Grammar Conditional sentences
总体思路
以假设问题“If you have a lot of money, what will you do?”导入,激发学生兴趣,引发学生思考,从而自然引入if引导条件状语从句的含义。然后引导学生观察文中例句,总结出条件状语从句的结构:主句加从句,从句之前要加逗号。通过对问题“If you have a lot of money, what will you do?”的回答,引出条件状语从句的三个原则即主将从现,主情从现,主祈从现。在对问题的回答中,引导学生要将时间和金钱花费在有意义的事情上,渗透育人观点。最后通过一首诗,巩固if引导的条件状语从句的应用,并启发学生要笑对生活,笑对世界。
微课脚本
Hello, boys and girls. Welcome to my English class. Today our topic is conditional sentences, if-clause.
正文讲解
PPT 1
T: We will talk about it from three aspects. Meaning, form and use.
PPT 2
T: Before we start, I have a question for you. If you have a lot of money, what will you do? Since you are just students, it is not possible for you to have a lot of time. So this is a hypothetical / ˌhaɪpəˈθetɪk(ə)l / situation. When we don't know if something will happen, we make a guess about the outcome.
PPT 3-4
T: Then we need to use the conditional sentence. We use it to talk about possible actions and the results of these actions. If-clause is one of the conditional sentences. If means 如果,假如.
PPT 5
T: We have many if-clauses in our articles. Such as, if you walk along the Bund, you will see many old buildings. If you enjoy history and natural beauty, you will love this garden. If you like sightseeing, you will love it. In these sentences, the part with if, we call it if-clause. It refers to conditions. The rest part, we call it main clause. It talks about the likely outcome. So we can get the structure, if clause comma plus main clause.
PPT 6
T: Also, we can put if-clause after the main clause. So we can get these sentences. You will see many old buildings if you walk along the Bund. You will love this garden if you enjoy history and natural beauty. You will love it if you like sightseeing. In these sentences, we don’t need a comma.
PPT 7
T: So we can work out the rule. We can put the if-clause after or before the main clause. If you put the if-clause before the main clause, pay attention to the comma.
PPT 8
T: When you use if -clause, please remember three principles. The first one, the verb in the if-clause is in the simple present tense. The verb in the main clause is in the simple future tense. In short, 主将从现. The second one, the verb in the if-clause is in the simple present tense. The verb in the main clause is modal verb, like can, should… 主情从现. The third one, the verb in the if-clause is in the simple present tense. We use imperative sentence in the main clause. 主祈从现.
PPT 9-14
T: Let’s focus on the first one. If +present, will +clause. Do you remember the question? “if you have a lot of money, what will you do?” Different person has different ideas. For me, I like books. So if I have a lot of money, I will build a library for me. Lily likes travelling. She wants to travel all over the world if she has a lot of money. Leo is a game lover. If he has a lot of money, he will buy a new computer. Lucy is a kind girl. If she has a lot of money, she will buy a new house for her family. No matter how much money you have, just remember. If you have a lot of money, you should spend them on meaningful things. In this sentence, I use the modal verb, should.
PPT 15
T: More examples with modal verbs in main clauses. If you want to have a lot of money, you should study hard. If you study hard, you can get good grades. If +present, modal verb +clause.
PPT 16
T: If you want to get good grades, study hard. Do homework carefully. Don’t sleep in class. In these sentences, we use If +present, imperative sentence in the main clause.
PPT 17-18
T: Let’s have a summary. First, If means 如果,假如. We use it to talk about possible actions and the results of these actions. Second, Normally, there are two parts in a sentence. We can use if clause comma plus main clause. Or main clause plus if clause. Third, When use if clause, please remember these three principles.
PPT 19
T: Last, here’s a poem for you. Life is like a mirror. If you smile at it, it will smile at you. If you are fed up with it, it will be tired of you, too. If you smile at it, you will gain a life full of smiles. If you smile, the world will smile at you.
T: Thank you for watching. Hope you enjoy this video.
