When she walked down the street, she spoke to everyone. It didn't matter if you were an elderly person or a child, or if you spoke English or Spanish. She had a smile and a conversation for you. However, as she aged, she noticed that her lifestyle was becoming rare. She wanted to know why, in the age of technology, most people believe they don't have time for communication that's longer than a text message. In fact, people hardly speak to one another nowadays. As much as I hated to admit it, I had noticed it too. My grandmother's wisdom inspired me to have a pen pal. It all started in 2013. I had gone to the University of Southern California to meet with Kerstin Zilm, who wanted to interview me about being a student struggling financially. I didn't know much about German culture or the German audience who would listen to the show, but I agreed to do so because I remembered my grandmother's wisdom I felt that telling my story was better than keeping it to myself. You never knew who could learn from your life experiences. Soon after learning my story from the show, a woman named Renate reached out to me, asking how she could help me financially with college. I was thankful that Renate wanted to help, but my pride didn't allow me to accept money. Thinking of my grandmother's wisdom,I didn't let the communication stop. I emailed Renate back, thanking her sincerely. From then on, Renate and I often emailed each other. She even sent me gifts and cakes on my birthday. And whenever I was in trouble, she was always there. She sent me virtual hugs at the moments when I needed them most. Though I have never met her in person, she is one of the most important people in my life. And I promise I will turn all the virtual hugs into real ones one day. 56. Talented and careful. C. Patient and creative. D. Honest and responsible. C eHealth can improve our lifestyle without the help of a health care provider. "You have1,563 steps left to reach your step goal for today. Would you like to take a walk?” When a sports watch provides such feedback, there is a much greater chance that you will take more steps. It also helps if an app teaches you something about health, "It's very good that you drink sugar-free cola. But it does have caffeine, which raises your blood pressure. " Social psychologist Talia Cohen Rodrigues interviewed 16 health care professionals and surveyed over 650 people with a special disease about their opinions and expectations of lifestyle interventions (干预) and eHealth. It's amazing that older patients prefer to see a health care professional because they may not be very skilled at technology. Younger patients want to be guided by an app or a coach to improve their lifestyle. Cohen Rodrigues believes that we need to offer patients choices. For example, current medical programs after a heart attack are rather uniform. People often receive group sessions and fixed content. If an app offers the opportunity to create a personalized program and give patients freedom in improving their lifestyle, it will be much more welcomed. Making progress with eHealth without human intervention sounds very enticing, especially in times when health care costs are increasing. However, is Health the solution to increasing weight-related issues and other lifestyle problems? Cohen Rodrigues fears not for two reasons. "If you drink tea instead of cola thanks to your app, it doesn't help if the supermarket keeps offering cheap cola, "said Cohen Rodrigues. "Secondly,eHealth can make many people aware of their behavior and help change it. But there are disadvantaged areas where we need to be careful about such solutions. Lower digital skills make eHealth less effective. Additionally, due to the lack of money, some people often have no mental space to work on their health. That's something we should deal with. Otherwise, successful eHealth will only worsen health differences. 61. How does eHealth encourage healthier behaviors. A. By offering personalized reminders. B. By connecting patients with doctors. C. By starting relaxing daily conversations. D. By providing prizes for healthy choices. 62. What result does Cohen Rodrigues' interview show? A. Technology-based health tools are widely popular. B. Patient age shapes preference for health guidance. C. Health care professionals support eHealth solutions. D. Traditional health care methods should be improved. 63. What problem is mentioned about some current medical programs? A. Little attention to specific needs. B. The shortage of medical experts. C. Poor follow-up care for patients. D. The high cost of health care. 64. What does the underlined word"enticing"in paragraph 4 probably mean? A. Unnecessary. C. Attractive. B. Confusing. D. Private. 65. Why does Cohen Rodrigues have doubts about the use of eHealth? A. Its long-term benefits can be unclear. B. It mainly suits disadvantaged communities. C. It fails to deal with mental health problems. D. Its effects are influenced by real-life conditions. D Failure is probably the most exhausting experience a person ever has. There is nothing more tiring than not succeeding. We experience this tiredness in two ways: as start-up fatigue(疲惫) and performance fatigue. In the former case, we keep putting off a task because it is either too boring or too difficult. And the longer we delay it, the more tired we feel. Such start-up fatigue is very real, even if not actually physical, not something in our muscles and bones. The solution is obvious though perhaps not easy to apply: always handle the most difficult job first. Years ago, I was asked to write 102 essays on the great ideas of some famous authors. Applying my own rule, I determined to write them in alphabetical order(按字母顺序), never letting myself leave out a tough idea. And I always started the day's work with the difficult task of essay-writing. Experience proved that the rule works. Performance fatigue is more difficult to handle. Though willing to get started, we cannot seem to do the job right. Its difficulties appear so great that, however hard we work, we fail again and again. In such a situation,I work as hard as I can---then let the unconscious take over. When planning Encyclopaedia Britannica(《大英百科全书》), I had to create a table of contents based on the topics of its articles. Nothing like this had ever been done before, and day after day I kept coming up with solutions, but none of them worked. My fatigue became almost unbearable. One day, mentally exhausted, I wrote down all the reasons why this problem could not be solved. I tried to convince myself that the trouble was with the problem itself, not with me. Relieved,I sat back in an easy chair and fell asleep. An hour later, I woke up suddenly with the solution clearly in mind. In the weeks that followed, the solution which had come up in my unconscious mind proved correct at every step. Though I worked as hard as before,I felt no fatigue. Success was now as exciting as failure had been depressing. Human beings,I believe, must try to succeed. Success, then, means never feeling tired. 66. People with start-up fatigue are most likely to . A. seek help B. work hard C. delay tasks D. accept failure 67. What does the author recommend doing to prevent start-up fatigue? A. Writing essays in strict order. B. Dealing with the hardest task first. C. Leaving out the toughest ideas. D. Building up physical strength. 68. On what occasion does a person probably suffer from performance fatigue? A. Before starting a difficult task. B. After finding a way out C. If the job is rather boring D: When all the solutions fail 69. According to the author, the unconscious mind may help us A. find the right solution get some nice sleep C. gain complete relief D. ignore mental problems 70. What could be the best title for the passage? A. Success Is Built upon Failure B. How to Handle Performance Fatigue C. Fatigue: An Early Sign of Health Problems D. Getting over Fatigue:A Way to Success 第Ⅲ卷 非选择题 (满分30分) 第四部分 写作 (共两节,满分30分) 第一节 阅读表达(共5小题; 每小题2分,满分10分) 阅读短文,并按照题目要求用英语回答问题。 Six days a week, up and down the red hills of northeast Georgia, my grandfather brought the mail to the folks there. At age 68, he retired from the post office, but he never stopped serving the community. On his 80th birthday, I sent him a letter, noting the things we all should be thankful for-good health, good friends and good outcomes. By most measurements he was a happy man. Then I suggested it was time for him to slow down. At long last, in a comfortable home, with a generous pension, he should learn to take things easy. “Thank you for your nice words,” he wrote in his letter back, “and I know what you meant, but slowing down scares me. Life isn't having it made; it's getting it made.” “The finest and happiest years of our lives were not when all the debts were paid, and all difficult experiences had passed, and we had settled into a comfortable home. No. I go back years ago, when we lived in a three-room house, when we got up before daylight and worked till after dark to make ends meet. I rarely had more than four hours of sleep. But what I still can't figure out is why I never got tired, never felt better in my life. I guess the answer is, we were fighting for survival, protecting and providing for those we loved. What matters are not the great moments, but the partial victories, the waiting, and even the defeats. It's the journey, not the arrival, that counts.” The letter ended with a personal request:“Boy, on my next birthday, just tell me to wake up and get going, because I will have one less year to do things-and there are ten million things waiting to be done.” Christina Rossetti, an English poet, once said:“Does the road wind uphill all the way? Yes, to the very end.” Today, at 96, my grandfather is still on that long road, climbing. 71. What was the author's grandfather before he retired? ( no more than 5 words) 72.
