Hi, I’m Mike. I work as a writer for GROWING UP. I hope I can help you with your problems.
Dear Mike,
I’m not very good at giving advice to other people. A friend of mine recently bought some trainers online, but they were fake (假的). Everyone except him can tell that they’re fake. I don’t know how to bring this up with him. Can you give me some advice?
Joseph
Dear Joseph,
A long time ago, a friend of mine told me what he liked most about me. It was that I always “kept it real”. Do you know the meaning of it? It means being honest and open, even when your thought is unpopular.
I suggest that you keep it real with your friend. If no one else is brave enough to tell him about his shoes, then maybe you should be the one to do it. You don’t have to do it in a mean (刻薄的) way. Just go to your friend secretly and bring it up. Your friend will thank you because you are honest.
On the other hand, who really cares if the shoes are fake? Is it really that big of a deal? Maybe you should just forget about it. If other people are making fun of him for having fake shoes, they really have a problem.
Mike

Time to Break the Cradle (摇篮)!
Many teenagers experience home-life as if it were a cradle. Meals are cooked and clothes are washed. Lots of teenagers cannot wash clothes or cook a meal. They have lots of homework but often no housework. But how are you going to learn the skills you will later need in life if everything is done for you?
We all need to prepare for real life, especially the housework. At university, I had to learn to shop, prepare my food, cook meals, clean up and wash clothes. I especially enjoyed cooking.
Some people might say you can order food online and book a washing service. In fact, good life skills will make you a better student at school, a better employee at work, a better parent at home. Making a meal needs good planning, skillful chopping (切), control of temperature and a good nose! It makes you smarter!
This all needs to start early. Without life skills, your education will be incomplete. One day, you will wonder why you have no clean socks and why your best friends can cook a delicious meal but you can not!

C. Students should only focus on their homework.
D. Friends should cook a delicious meal for you.

There’s a new sport at this year’s Paris Olympics: breaking. The sport combines dancing and acrobatics. To win the gold, breakers will spin, flip, and shuffle to hip-hop music. Here’s what you need to know about the sport.
Why is it called breaking?
Breaking started in the 1970s. At parties, dancers got up to perform during musical “breaks,” which gave breaking its name. Breaking is now an important part of hip-hop culture.
Who can be a breaker?
Anyone can be a B-girl or a B-boy, which is what breakers call themselves. Montalvo is an American B-boy. “Breaking is awesome because it’s part of hip-hop culture. It doesn’t matter what color you are, who you are, where you’re from,” he says. “It’s all about peace, love and having fun.” Do the breakers pick their own music?
No! In breaking competitions, a DJ picks the music. The breakers never know what songs the DJ will pick.
How do breakers describe their dance?
Breakers have their own language to describe their dance. A “top rock” is when a breaker dances while standing up. A “down rock” is when a breaker dances on the floor, moving their arms and kicking their legs.
53. How can breakers win the gold? (不超过10个词)

(不超过10个词)
