When storms come, most people stay at safe places. But some get up close to storms to take photos.
They’re called “storm chasers”. Liu Yijing, a young photographer, is one of them.
Born in Jiangxi, Liu has been interested in storms. In kindergarten, his favorite picture book was
about winds. When his classmates at primary school watched cartoons, he watched weather reports. In
high school, he read lots of books about weather and also studied meteorology (气象学).
In college, Liu opened a photo shop with his friend because they loved photography. However, their
business was bad in 2019. So they had to close the shop and return home. When Liu stayed at home, a
storm hit his hometown. Unexpectedly, some photos Liu took during that storm caught many people’s
attention, so he started his job as a storm photographer from then on.
In 2020, Liu went to Inner Mongolia to take photos of storms. His first trip wasn’t successful. On his
second trip, he took an amazing photo. The photo showed how clouds gave rise to a tornado (龙卷风).
“How excited I was! While taking the photo, I couldn’t control myself and kept shouting excitedly,” he
says, adding that the picture has become famous online.
A storm may be beautiful when nature shows its power (力量 ). But it can bring dangers. So Liu
makes videos to help people understand meteorology and its influence on life. “Through my photos, I
hope people will learn about some terrible weather events and be prepared before they happen,” Liu says.

Zhou Chuna, a normal 15-year-old girl, shared her experience of cosmetic surgery (整容手术), more
and more young people in China are having cosmetic surgery. It was reported that 19 percent of Chinese
medical beauty customers in 2020 were aged 18 or under.
Many beauty clinics (诊所) say that being more beautiful gives people an advantage in society, but
the truth is that failed examples of cosmetic surgery are common to see. Once a teenage girl named Zhang
had double eyelid surgery.
Moreover, a large number of beauty care centers actually open against the law. It is said that China
has about 13, 000 beauty clinics.
6
More worrying, there is heated competition among the medical beauty clinics to win more teenage
customers.
Some businesses use catchphrases like “Only by becoming prettier can you be more loved” to spread
“appearance stress”. And many beauty clinics advertise directly to teenagers, encouraging them to “make
some changes and let your classmates be amazed by your beauty in the new term”. ▲ . One
Internet user said she saw an advertisement for a 15-yuan treatment for pimples (青春痘) but the staff at
the beauty clinic gave her a year’s surgery plan which cost 8, 000.
Many experts have said it’s dangerous for teenagers to have cosmetic surgery. Teenagers are more at
risk to advertisement and social pressure, not to mention their level of physical maturity (成熟). That’s
why they are calling for stricter rules on the beauty clinics when it comes to the treatment of teenagers.

A.the possible danger of cosmetic surgery
B.the popularity of cosmetic surgery with teenagers
C.the hot discussion about cosmetic surgery

B.These ads cause problems for the teenagers’ study

A break the law B pass the law C.according to the law
( )56.By writing this passage, the writer wants to ________.
A.call for stricter rules on beauty surgery on teenagers
B.point out the danger of the false advertising to teenagers
C.ask the government to pass laws to stop the cosmetic surgery
D
I used to tell my friends that museums were a silly idea for a weekend getaway — until I visited one
of them with my family last week.
We started by looking at some old paintings in a big room. My mom explained that they were created
by famous artists a long time ago. And that’s when the trip started to get interesting for me.
Next, we went to a room with real dinosaur bones (恐龙骨头 ). They were huge, and I couldn't
believe that animals that big ever existed (存在). We learned how they lived and looked for food. It was
cool!
Then, we entered a room with old handcrafts (手工艺品). There were bowls, musical instruments,
and even a pyramid (金字塔 )! I couldn’t believe they were made so long ago — without modern
machines. It was amazing to see how people used to live back then.
Lastly, we visited a room with real live insects and animals. There were butterflies flying all around
and even a big spider! I got a little scared, but my mom told me they were behind glass and couldn’t hurt
me.
After we saw everything, we went to the gift shop. I got a cool ruler with dinosaur facts on it and a
little toy dinosaur. My sister got a book about space, and my dad got a cool T-shirt.
Going to the museum was fun! I learned so much about history, science, and art. Guess what? I’m
taking back everything I said about museums — and I can’t wait to go back and see what else is there!
( )57. What did the writer see first in the museum?
A. Some butterflies. B. Some bones. C. Some paintings.
( )58. What might the writer think of the handcrafts?
A. They were old but amazing. B. He couldn’t understand them.
C. They were symbols of different cultures.
7
( )59. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. The writer started to like museums.
B. The writer visited the museum twice.
C. The writer liked the history museum best.
( )60. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
(①=Paragraph 1,②=Paragraph 2 ...)
A.①/②/③④⑤⑥⑦ B.①②/③④⑤⑥ /⑦ C.①/②③④⑤⑥ /⑦
第二节 阅读填空(共 5小题;每小题 2分,满分 10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有一项为多余选项。
“I've told you a million times: put your dirty clothes away!” “Go to do your homework right now!”
61 Many of you may answer “yes”. Anyway, there are many chances to drive your parents angry.
Parents become angry and upset for many reasons. Sometimes they’re thinking about their own
experiences. For example, some parents did poorly in school when they were kids, and they worry that
their kids will get bad grades just like they did. Parents also worry about mistakes they may have made in
raising their children. If their kids do something wrong, the parents might think they didn’t teach their
kids well enough. 62 If their son or daughter spends an hour a day playing video games now, what
will happen in five years? It seems like parents can be unreasonable (不明理的) sometimes, but they are
just hoping for the best for you.
63 Here is some advice on how to have a stronger relationship with your parents. These days,
it’s easy to send a message or talk online. But face-to-face communication is still important. 64
Next, when you find yourself getting angry with your parents, pause (暂停) and try to relax before you
continue. Put yourself in their shoes (换位思考) and try to understand their opinions. Then you can tell
them your needs.
65 But with healthy communication and understanding, maybe next time it doesn’t have to lead
to a fight.
