专题03 阅读理解之记叙文12篇 (23-24高二上·北京石景山·期末)My House My mother moved a lot when she was growing up on account of Grandpa being in the army. She hated having to adjust to new schools and make new friends. That’s why I thought she was joking when she put forward the idea of moving. But she was completely serious. “For just the two of us,” my mother said, “an apartment in the city will suit our needs much better.” Personally, I think she’s lost her mind. I guess I can understand why she would want to move, but what about me and what this house means to me? I suppose if you looked at my house, you might think it was just another country house. But to me it is anything but standard. I moved into this house with my parents ten years ago. I can still remember that first day like it was yesterday. The first thing I noticed was the big front yard. To me it seemed like an ocean of grass — I couldn’t wait to dive in. The backyard was full of gnarled (扭曲的,粗糙的) and scary trees that talk on windy nights. But I grew to like them and the shadows they cast in my room. My father and I even built a small treehouse, where I often go to remember all the wonderful times we had before my father’s death. This house is special — maybe only to me — but special nevertheless. It’s the little seemingly insignificant things that make this house so special to me: the ice-cold tile floors that make me tremble on midnight; the smell of my father’s pipe that still exists: the towering bookcases of my mother; the view outside my bedroom window. This house holds too many memories, memories which would be lost if we gave it up. 1.Why did the author’s mother decide to move? A.Because she hated the countryside. B.Because Grandpa was on constant move. C.Because Dad’s death made her lose her mind. D.Because she thought a city flat more fit for them. 2.What impressed the author when she first moved into the house? A.The treehouse. B.The green grass. C.The big trees. D.The cold floors. 3.How did the author let us feel that the house was special to her? A.By arguing whether the house was standard. B.By explaining why the house suited their needs. C.By describing the small things related to her house. D.By comparing the differences between country and city life. 根据第一段中的“‘For just the two of us,’ my mother said, ‘an apartment in the city will suit our needs much better.’(‘就我们两个人而言,’我母亲说,‘城市里的公寓会更适合我们的需求。’)” 根据第二段中的“The first thing I noticed was the big front yard. To me it seemed like an ocean of grass—I couldn’t wait to dive in.(我首先注意到的是大前院。对我来说,这就像一片草地的海洋——我迫不及待地想扑进去。)”可知,当作者最初搬进这所房子时,给她留下深刻印象的是前院的绿草地。故选B。 3.推理判断题。根据第二段中的“I can still remember that first day like it was yesterday. The first thing I noticed was the big front yard. To me it seemed like an ocean of grass—I couldn’t wait to dive in. The backyard was full of gnarled(扭曲的,粗糙的) and scary trees that talk on windy nights. But I grew to like them and the shadows they cast in my room. My father and I even built a small treehouse, where I often go to remember all the wonderful times we had before my father’s death.(我还记得第一天,就像昨天一样。我首先注意到的是大前院。对我来说,这就像一片草地的海洋——我迫不及待地想扑进去。后院里长满了扭曲的可怕的树,在刮风的夜晚它们会说话。但我渐渐喜欢上了它们和它们在我房间里投下的阴影。我父亲和我甚至建了一个小树屋,我经常去那里回忆父亲去世前我们所有的美好时光。)”和第三段“This house is special—maybe only to me—but special nevertheless. It’s the little seemingly insignificant things that make this house so special to me: the ice-cold tile floors that make me tremble on midnight; the smell of my father’s pipe that still exists: the towering bookcases of my mother; the view outside my bedroom window.(这所房子很特别——也许只对我来说——但无论如何都很特别。正是那些看似微不足道的小事让这所房子对我来说如此特别:冰冷的瓷砖地板让我在午夜颤抖;我父亲烟斗的味道仍然存在:我母亲高耸的书架;我卧室窗外的景色。)”可推测出,作者通过描述与房子有关的小事来展现出作者对房子的特别情感。故选C。 (23-24高二上·北京顺义·期末)“The living environment in China is perfect for me, and I feel right at home even though my Chinese isn’t fluent. It’s not a difficult task to come to China without fluent Chinese. You can enjoy yourself here.” Since I left Japan, I started my journey in China. These have been my first thoughts on my time here in China. In February 2022, I began learning Chinese. Almost a year later, I found myself in Beijing, the capital of China. Before coming here, I had attended Chinese classes, and I could sense my progress in the language. As you might expect, studying for just one year wasn’t enough to say I was fluent in Chinese, and to be honest, I’m not there yet. But full skills in the language are not necessary to enjoy many attractions of life in China. The one thing that truly makes me feel comfortable and less lonely is making friends and joining in conversations. At Tsinghua University, where I studied in China, I made friends with many Chinese young people and enjoyed spending time with them for meals and other activities. They would often ask me to hang out together and go to KTV, which was a popular form among Chinese youth. During breaks from study, I often started travelling across China. I’ve visited cities like Shanghai, Chongqing and Changsha. Although I have experienced travelling on overnight trains for over 12 hours several times and visited unfamiliar cities, I never feel fearful or unwelcome as a foreigner. Chinese people are warm and welcoming to foreigners, and eager to join in conversations. I once joined in community activities in Northwest China’s Gansu province to gain a deeper understanding of China’s countryside areas and help the development of local communities and education. As a volunteer teacher at a local school, I shared traditional Japanese culture such as pop music and languages with the students. Since Japanese language came from Chinese, they are similar somehow. I told the students we could see the connections between our cultures through our daily language use. If you want to understand and experience the life in China, you’ll find a way to do so. I hope that many foreigners who may not speak Chinese fluently can still enjoy themselves here, just as I have. 1.How did the writer feel about living in China without fluent Chinese? A.Challenged. B.Bored. C.Nervous. D.Easy. 2.What mainly helped the writer get used to the life in China? A.Speaking fluent Chinese. B.Studying in a Chinese university. C.Having talks with Chinese friends. D.Getting to know many Chinese places. 3.The author joined in community activities in Gansu to ______. A.gain a deeper understanding of China’s city areas B.share traditional Japanese culture to the local people C.find out the differences between Japanese and Chinese D.help the development of local communities and education 4.According to the passage, which word can best describe the writer? A.Active. B.Funny. C.Humorous. D.Honest. 5.What can we learn from this passage? A.Japanese language didn’t come from Chinese. B.We may all feel fearful when visiting new cities. C.Language may not be a big problem when living in China. D.Hanging out to a KTV is necessary when visiting a new place. 根据第一段中的“The living environment in China is perfect for me, and I feel right at home even though my Chinese isn’t fluent.(中国的生活环境非常适合我,即使我的中文不流利,我也有宾至如归的感觉。)” 根据第三段中的“The one thing that truly makes me feel comfortable and less lonely is making friends and joining in conversations.(真正让我感到舒适和不那么孤独的一件事是交朋友和参加对话。)” 根据第五段中的“I once joined in community activities in Northwest China’s Gansu province to gain a deeper understanding of China’s countryside areas and help the development of local communities and education.(我曾经参加过中国西北部甘肃省的社区活动,以更深入地了解中国的农村地区,并帮助当地社区和教育的发展。)” 根据第三段中的“At Tsinghua University, where I studied in China, I made friends with many Chinese young people and enjoyed spending time with them for meals and other activities. They would often ask me to hang out together and go to KTV, which was a popular form among Chinese youth.(在我在中国学习的地方,清华大学,我结交了许多中国年轻人,喜欢和他们花时间一起吃饭和做其他活动。他们经常让我一起出去玩,去KTV,这是中国年轻人的一种流行形式。)”、第四段中的“During breaks from study, I often started travelling across China.(放短假时,我经常开始在中国各地旅行。)”、第五段中的“I once joined in community activities in Northwest China’s Gansu province to gain a deeper understanding of China’s countryside areas and help the development of local communities and education.(我曾经参加过中国西北部甘肃省的社区活动,以更深入地了解中国的农村地区,并帮助当地社区和教育的发展。)” 故选A。 5. 根据第一段中的“It’s not a difficult task to come to China without fluent Chinese. You can enjoy yourself here.(来中国时不会流利的中文不是一件困难的事情。你可以在这里玩得很开心。)”和第二段中的“But full skills in the language are not necessary to enjoy many attractions of life in China.(但是,要在中国享受生活的许多乐趣,完全掌握语言技能并不是必要的。)” (23-24高二上·北京海淀·期末)Adom Appiah, is not your typical High School Junior. He has taken his volunteerism to a whole new level by starting a nonprofit charity organization called Ball4Good. Amazingly, this innovative organization was a result of Adom’s 7th grade school assignment. At age 12, his history teacher, Mrs. Kelsea Turner, at Spartanburg Day School, had challenged her students to dedicate 20% of their class time to a service project. She suggested that they research a community need and then work independently on finding a solution. Adom was inspired. Adom had great passion for playing sports as a soccer and basketball player. So, he naturally thought of combining sports and community support into an athletics-oriented service project. His idea was to invite athletes, leaders and celebrities to play ball games to raise money for local charities. Ball4Good held its first Celebrity Basketball Game in 2017. He used donations received on his 13th birthday as seed money for the event. It was a huge success and raised over $70,000 for 13 local charities. Then, Adom’s idea has transformed into a movement that is helping communities through various ways such as celebrity sport events, charity drives and fundraising. It donates raised funds to various causes affecting children, such as autism, homelessness, abuse and cancer. If all these accomplishments about Ball4Good were not enough, the teen has also authored three motivational children’s books to inspire students to change the world and bounce back from failures. Donations from book sales have supported several charitable causes. In addition, he won a National Award (Gloria Barron for Young Heroes, 2019) that comes with a $10,000 prize for his public service efforts. Having multiple projects has not slowed Adom down, as he is currently hosting his own show called Kids Changing the World on TV. “I try to have kids involved in every step of the way, so they can figure out how things work in the business and philanthropist world,” Adom said. He wants people to know that success starts with believing in yourself. His goal is to expand Ball4Good’s reach. He believes that by encouraging others to get involved, he’s multiplying the impact of Ball4Good. 1.What inspired Adom Appiah to start Ball4Good? A.Passion for sports and support from a community. B.A school assignment given by his history teacher. C.His experiences of being a soccer and basketball player. D.Athletes, leaders and celebrities he invited to play games. 2.According to the passage, we can learn that Ball4Good . A.aims to promote community sports B.held its first activity with Adom’s own savings C.helps communities simply through celebrity sport events D.uses raised money to help children in various difficulties 3.Which of the following can best describe Adom Appiah? A.Kind and humorous. B.Generous and patient. C.Innovative and inspiring. D.Hardworking and reliable. 根据第二段的“At age 12, his history teacher, Mrs. Kelsea Turner, at Spartanburg Day School, had challenged her students to dedicate 20% of their class time to a service project. She suggested that they research a community need and then work independently on finding a solution. Adom was inspired.(12岁时,他在斯帕坦堡走读学校(Spartanburg Day School)的历史老师凯尔西·特纳(Kelsea Turner)要求学生们拿出20%的上课时间来做一个服务项目。她建议他们先研究一下社区的需求,然后各自独立地寻找解决方案。Adom受到了启发)”可知,Adom创办了非盈利组织Ball4Good是受到了历史老师布置的作业的启发。故选B。 2.细节理解题。根据第四段“Then, Adom’s idea has transformed into a movement that is helping communities through various ways such as celebrity sport events, charity drives and fundraising. It donates raised funds to various causes affecting children, such as autism, homelessness, abuse and cancer.(然后,Adom的想法变成了一场运动,通过各种方式帮助社区,比如名人体育赛事、慈善活动和筹款。它将筹集到的资金捐赠给影响儿童的各种事业,如自闭症、无家可归、虐待和癌症)”可知,Ball4Good使用捐款帮助处于各种困难中的孩子们。故选D。 3.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段内容“If all these accomplishments about Ball4Good were not enough, the teen has also authored three motivational children’s books to inspire students to change the world and bounce back from failures. His goal is to expand Ball4Good’s reach. He believes that by encouraging others to get involved, he’s multiplying the impact of Ball4Good.(他想让人们知道,成功始于相信自己。他的目标是扩大Ball4Good的覆盖范围。他认为,通过鼓励其他人参与进来,他正在扩大Ball4Good的影响力)”可推知,Adom是一个很有创新且鼓舞人心的人。故选C。 (23-24高二上·北京昌平·期末)Running with Heart My name was missing from the list. All my friends had made the cheer-leading team. But somehow my name was not there. I felt lost and embarrassed. Knowing that next year would bring a new round of try-outs, I began practicing routines on my own, hoping to become a cheerleader the next year. But my dad suggested that I get involved in running track — just to try it out for a year. I had always been the fastest kid to run a mile in gym class, so I figured that I might as well sign up for running for just one season. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. In the first race on the track team, I took the last place. Race after race, I continued to place last and I felt my lungs burning from the effort. I wanted to quit, feeling like a failure. But my dad reminded me that once you are committed to something, you should always follow through. So I finished my first track season, placing last in every race. The next year came. Although running was not a popular activity, like cheer-leading was at our school, I signed up again to run the long-distance races. I wanted to challenge myself. Within one year, I became the fastest female cross-country runner on our school’s team. A few years later, I placed 3rd in the Ohio State meet. Not only that, but I was offered an athletic scholarship for college. Classmates may have laughed at me for choosing running over cheer-leading, but I didn’t care. I wasn’t running track to be cool or to prove anything to anyone else. Running made me proud of who I was. When I chose to be a runner, I chose to be true to myself. We all make that choice every day — we can be who we were born to be or we can simply follow the crowd. For me, I am happiest to be...just me. 1.After failing to make the cheer-leading team, the author ________. A.wanted to quit B.blamed her father C.turned to her friends D.continued to practice 2.The author managed to finish her first track season mainly because she ________. A.wanted to prove herself B.was inspired by her father C.got an athletic scholarship D.performed well in the races 3.Which of the following words can best describe the author? A.Confident and honest. B.Creative and ambitious. C.Generous and committed. D.Hardworking and determined. 4.In the passage, the author mainly wants to show that we should ________. A.follow others’ opinions B.try out for popular activities C.appreciate who we really are D.help those who are in trouble 【答案】1.D 2.B 3.D 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。 根据文章第一段“Knowing that next year would bring a new round of try-outs, I began practicing routines on my own, hoping to become a cheerleader the next year.(知道明年会有新一轮的试训,我开始自己的常规练习,希望来年能成为一名啦啦队队长)”可知,在没能成为啦啦队队长后,作者继续练习。故选D项。 2. 根据文章第二段“But my dad reminded me that once you are committed to something, you should always follow through. So I finished my first track season, placing last in every race.(但我爸爸提醒我,一旦你致力于某件事,你就应该坚持到底。所以我完成了我的第一个田径赛季,在每一场比赛中都排在最后)”可知,作者之所以能完成她的第一个田径赛季,主要是因为她受到了父亲的激励。故选B项。 3.推理判断题。根据文章第二段“In the first race on the track team, I took the last place. Race after race, I continued to place last and I felt my lungs burning from the effort. I wanted to quit, feeling like a failure. But my dad reminded me that once you are committed to something, you should always follow through. So I finished my first track season, placing last in every race.(在田径队的第一场比赛中,我得了最后一名。一场接一场的比赛,我仍然是最后一名,我感到我的肺在努力燃烧。我想退出,感觉自己很失败。但我父亲提醒我,一旦你承诺了一件事,你就应该一直坚持到底。所以我完成了我的第一个赛道赛季,每场比赛都是最后一名。)”可知,作者是个努力刻苦,意志坚定的人。故选D项。 4.主旨大意题。根据文章最后一段“Running made me proud of who I was. The 12-year-old’s mom suffers from allergies, and something in their house was causing her head to hurt. After going to the hospital, they discovered the cause of the headache: the candles. His mom had no choice but to get rid of the scented (有香味的) items. However, he knew his mother really loved candles. To lift her spirits, he set up a lab in the family’s kitchen in the fall of 2019 and made a candle using only natural ingredients, such as soy and coconut waxes (蜡) and essential oils. Chemicals in her old candles were causing the headaches. He named his first product Jurassic Orange, which is similar to the fruit in color and smell. Jurassic Orange was a hit with his mom, whose headaches disappeared. But Alejandro wasn’t done experimenting. Within a few months, he had about six scents, including Chunky Sweaters and Cozy Socks, which smells like a fruit drink mixed with a pine forest. In September 2020, he put his first collection of candles on Etsy, the online marketplace that specializes in handmade goods. He also sold candles at seasonal markets, such as the one in downtown D.C. where the vice president was shopping for holiday gifts last year. He recommended two candles to the vice president. She took some of his advice. Jesse Benites, general manager of a big shopping mall, said the vice president’s visit “skyrocketed” Alejandro’s fame. A senior manager contacted Alejandro and invited him to rent one of the 12 retail carts at the mall. On September 1,2022, Smell of Love Candles opened on the second level of the shopping center. Alejandro is the mall’s youngest business owner. Inside the mall, Alejandro turned a large room into his production facility, where he and his staff make 600 to 700 candles a week. There were altogether 25 scents on the shelf. He continued to make new scents and wanted to see all his candles in every single household and love and joy come into the houses. Alejandro’s candle business makes a good profit, but for him, the money he earned is not just for his own college fund but for local charities. 1.Alejandro started his business because he wanted to________. A.solve his mother’s problem B.earn some money for the family C.make more people love candles D.change the way candles are made 2.What do we know about Smell of Love Candles? A.It was visited by the vice president. B.It mainly sells candles on the Internet. C.It teaches people how to make candles. D.It will offer new scents of the candles. 3.The money Alejandro made will be used to____. A.open more chain stores B.help more people in need C.invent new scents of the candles D.promote his candles to more families 4.According to the passage, which words can best describe Alejandro? A.Organized and loving. B.Smart and outgoing. C.Caring and creative. Born in 1873 in a small house in the rocky hills above Athens, Spiridon helped his father tend the sheep from a very young age. After gathering the wool, they walked to the Athens market to sell it. It was in Athens Spiridon’s father told him the legend of Pheidippides, who ran from the village of Marathon to Athens, to tell his people that the Greeks had won a great battle, but died after delivering the message. The run of nearly 25 miles had been too much for him. The legend had inspired him for many years. By the time he was in his early twenties, Spiridon was making a living selling fresh water from the hills. Twice a day he would load two barrels full of water on his mule and run alongside the mule to Athens, a trip of more than eight miles. Spiridon’s legs and heart grew strong from all that running. When he heard that a long race would be part of the Olympic Games, he decided to enter. The race would be called marathon, in honor of the legend of Pheidippides. Held on the last day of the Olympics in Athens, the race included many excellent runners from several countries. When there were six miles to go, Edwin Flack of Australia was in the lead. A.in the village of Marathon B.because of the long-distance run C.on his way delivering the message D.in the great battle that the Greek had won 2.How was Spiridon earning his living by the time he entered the race? A.By selling the wool. B.By running the mule. C.By selling fresh water from the hills. D.By helping his father tend the sheep. 3.What can we learn from the passage? A.To load water, Spiridon ran the mule to Athens every day. B.Spiridon practised running by loading barrels full of water. C.Spiridon did not run faster than others at the beginning of the race. D.The Olympic Games were held to honor the legend of Pheidippides. 4.Spiridon’s story is written to ________. A.describe how Spiridon succeeded B.honor the legend of Pheidippides C.remember the first Olympic Games D.motivate the athletes of the Olympic marathon 【答案】1.B 2.C 3.C 4.D 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。1896年,一个来自希腊名叫Spiridon Louis的年轻人跑出了有史以来最激动人心的马拉松比赛,获得冠军。文章讲述了他受到Pheidippides传说的启发,开始参加比赛的经历。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中“It was in Athens Spiridon’s father told him the legend of Pheidippides, who ran from the village of Marathon to Athens, to tell his people that the Greeks had won a great battle, but died after delivering the message. Expected start time was at around 7 pm,” she wrote on social media. “I grabbed takeout for the kids, filled my gas tank, replaced my broken phone charger and then hit the dirt roads at around 5:30 to head home before the storm hit.” She took a dirt road because she thought it would be better for the winter driving conditions. “Just as the pavement (路面) turned into gravel (石子路), the wind picked up and visibility became reduced. The wind whips the snow from the open fields across the roads and creates sometimes dangerous conditions,” she said. “I found myself driving with my head out of the driver’s window, watching the edge of the gravel as my guide, while I crawled forward at 15km/hr, not actually looking forward at the road ahead. I did this for about 10 km, until I could no longer see and I had to stop, right where I was—12 km from home.” She pulled over and called 911. The operator suggested she wait the storm out, but the storm was not projected to let up until dawn. “What if I didn’t make it home at all?” she wondered. She posted her location on the Pense community webpage in hopes someone might be able to find her. That’s when 80-year-old Andre Bouvier Sr. got a call about St. Onge’s urgent request for help. He lived about half a mile away from where she was pulled over. His tractor would not start so he decided to head out on foot with a flashlight. To his surprise, he found two other vehicles with people who also needed help stranded together with St. Onge. He led all seven stranded people back to his home and welcomed them in for the evening. “This family fed us and gave us a warm place to rest our eyes for a few hours,” she said. “When we all woke up at 5 am, he had already plowed the driveway for us, and at around 5:30, we headed to town. Visibility was better, but still very, very poor.” “In the end, we all made it home safely and I have never hugged my kids tighter.” As for Bouvier, he didn’t want much credit for his efforts. “Everybody would have done the same thing,” he said. “You don’t think about it. You just do it.” 1.In spite of the warning, St. Onge still tried to drive back home mainly because she ________. A.didn’t trust the weather forecast B.was fully prepared for the storm C.had thought she could get home before the storm began D.took the dirt road that she thought would be safe enough 2.What’s the main factor that made it impossible for St. Onge to go on driving? Thank you judges for this honor and giving this award in my hand. I am very delighted to have won $50,000 for my project. My project came about as I was constantly hearing about plastic pollution on the news. And I also see the real effects on our beaches every day. I discovered, to my shock, that at present no filtration(过滤)for microplastics takes place in any European wastewater treatment centers, so I set up my project and started looking for a solution. Seeing that there was none, I decided to study further, finally finding a way to use the fberofluid(铁磁流体), a liquid which sticks to the plastic allowing it to be removed using magnets(磁体).After over 1,000 tests I have proved that my method would remove 87% or higher of microplastics. I grew up in West Cork, Ireland. My hometown is surrounded by untouched nature. This has been my first inspiration about how nature works. I soon discovered that science really was in everything. The fact that I lived in such a remote place meant that I had to build my own equipment and lab to do tests and experiments. Inspired by scientists such as Ben Feringa and his work with organic chemistry and nanotechnology(纳米技术), I would like to study chemistry or chemical engineering when finishing my last year of secondary school. Both of these subjects will be suited to me as I really enjoy problem-solving and experiments. One of the most valuable rewards from the science fair for me is the opportunity to present my work to a group of professional judges. Winning the prize is a great honor to me as this is a recognition of my project and ideas. Also, the prize will give my project more attention. There is nothing I would like to see more than my project to be used in removing microplastics in our oceans worldwide. 1.Why did Fionn set up the project? A.To win the prize. B.To clean the air. C.To remove microplastics. D.To build a wastewater center. 2.According to paragraph 3, what gave Fionn the creative ideas? A.The sandy beaches. B.The nature of his hometown. C.The new technology. D.The results of his experiments. 3.According to the passage, which word can best describe Fionn? A.Honest. B.Determined. C.Fearless. D.Humorous. 4.This passage might be_________. A.a news report B.a science survey C.a thanks-giving letter D.an awarding speech 【答案】1.C 2.B 3.B 4.D 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。作者Fionn Ferreira是一个科学比赛的获奖者。他介绍了自己使用铁磁流体从水中去除微塑料的实验项目及获奖的经历, 表达了自己对科学的热爱。 1.推理判断题。根据第一段最后一句“I discovered, to my shock, that at present no filtration (过滤) for microplastics takes place in any European wastewater treatment centers, so I set up my project and started looking for a solution.(令我震惊的是,我发现目前欧洲任何污水处理中心都没有对微塑料进行过滤,所以我开始寻找解决方案)”以及第二段第一句“Seeing that there was none, I decided to study further, finally finding a way to use the fberofluid(铁磁流体),a liquid which sticks to the plastic allowing it to be removed using magnets(磁体). So it was not alarming as the night grew on and she did not arrive home. As 11 pm passed, her family began to worry. They called her but did not get any answer. They then reached out to Lisa’s best friend, who said Lisa had left to drive home at 9 that night. The family thought about calling the police that evening but the police typically don’t define a person missing unless there is no contact for 24 hours. The next morning there was still no sign of Lisa. All the family could do was sit home and wait. Lisa’s son decided to drive along Lisa’s route and carefully look for her. He found Lisa’s car had crashed into a tree. What’s worse, there was no sign of Lisa at all. The family called the police. The police began their search. But due to the heavy rain, the search team was called back. The family was very disappointed but still hopeful and continued the search. 700 feet from Lisa’s car, they finally found Lisa under a rock. After a few days in hospital, Lisa recovered. She explained that she passed out after her car slid off the road in the rain. After she came to herself, Lisa managed to climb out of the car. While walking to find help, Lisa was exhausted and unable to figure out the direction. So she couldn’t walk on and climbed under a rock as it started raining again. Scared as she was, she turned to her faith in hopes of living to see her son again. 1.When should Lisa arrive home after visiting her friend? A.About 9 pm. B.About9:30pm. C.About 11pm. D.The next morning. 2.Why did the family give up calling the police that night? A.Lisa stayed with her best friend. B.The rocks had blocked all the roads up. C.The police usually refused to come at night. D.They had been out of touch with Lisa for less than a day. 3.Why was Lisa unable to go home by herself? A.She was lost. B.She was injured. C.She was locked in her car. D.She was caught by heavy rain. 【答案】1.B 2.D 3.A 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章记叙的是Lisa到朋友家拜访,回程路上车在雨中滑出路面后,她晕了过去,最后她的家人和警方经过不懈努力找到了她。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段“One day, Lisa Holman told her family she would be out that night visiting her friend, only about half an hour drive from her house.(有一天,Lisa Holman告诉家人,她当晚要出去拜访朋友,她家离朋友家只有大约半小时的车程。)”可知Lisa家与朋友家车程约半小时;结合第一段最后一句“They then reached out to Lisa’s friend, who said Lisa had left to drive home at 9 that night.(然后他们联系了Lisa的朋友,她说Lisa那天晚上9点开车回家了。)”可知Lisa晚上9点离开朋友家,所以她本应该在九点半到家。故选B项。 2.细节理解题。根据第二段“The family thought about calling the police that evening but the police typically don't define a person missing unless there is no contact for 24 hours.(当晚他们想报警,但警方通常不会认定一个人失踪,除非24小时内没有联系。)”由此可知24小时内没有联系,警方不会认定失踪处理,所以他们放弃了报警是因为Lisa失踪还不足一天。故选D项。 3.细节理解题。根据最后一段“She explained that she passed out after her car slid off the road in the rain. After she came to herself, Lisa managed to climb out of the car. Frankie, a young woman who feels lucky to have had the caring support from her dad Frankie’s dad raised her, and they were very close. When he suddenly passed away two years ago, Frankie didn’t know how she would survive. With no family or relatives to take her in, she fell into a depression. She bounced from home to home, losing trust she’d ever gain stability. One Friday afternoon, Frankie sat at a park bench outside of school. As she was worrying about where she was going to live, she suddenly remembered something her dad would tell her when she was little. “Don’t ever give up,” said Frankie. “If dad were here, he would tell me that.” Those words encouraged her to seek help from Noel, a YouthCare case manager, who helped her find accommodation at Catalyst, one of YouthCare’s community living programs, YouthCare provided a path back to stability. Frankie was thankful to have a routine: dish washings after dinner, weekly game nights, and check-ins with a mental health doctor every Thursday. At Catalyst, Frankie received consistent support and found additional resources for her mental health care. Outside of her Thursday appointments, she participated in weekly homework assignments focused on well-being and goal-setting for the future. Noel showed great surprise at Frankie’s positive changes with each passing day. She earned her GED, and it wasn’t long before she began searching for her first job. With the help of Noel, Frankie applied for a handful of positions in health or fitness. Frankie jumped with excitement when she received an interview call for a front desk position at a local gym! Dressed in green, her dad’s favorite color, Frankie entered her interview with confidence. Noel smiled very happily when Frankie received a second call later that day with news that she got the job. Too many young people come to YouthCare with their own story. Each of them deserves a path back to stability a stable home, consistent support, and access to treatment services necessary to become well. Like Frankie, they can imagine new possibilities and change the course of their own story through encouragement and treatment. 1.What was the main cause for Frankie’s depression? A.Her desire to get a job. B.Her fear of homelessness. C.Her lessons of adolescence. D.Her inability to deal with relatives. 2.How did YouthCare influence Frankie? A.She realized the value of family affection. B.She had a stable life to achieve her potential. C.She learned the importance of interview confidence. D.She built up her courage to be a mental health doctor. 3.Which would be the best title for the passage? A.Frankie’s Job Hunting in Fitness B.The Friendship between Frankie and Noel C.Finding the Support Needed to Move Forward D.Looking for Reliable Relatives to the Homeless 【答案】1.B 2.B 3.C 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章通过写Frankie在YouthCare的经历,讲述了我们要学会找到前进所需的支持。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中“With no family or relatives to take her in, she fell into a depression. Outside of her Thursday appointments, she participated in weekly homework assignments focused on well-being and goal-setting for the future.(YouthCare提供了一条回归稳定的道路。Frankie很感激自己有一个常规:晚饭后洗碗,每周比赛之夜,每周四去心理健康医生那里检查。在Catalyst,Frankie得到了持续的支持,并为她的心理健康护理找到了额外的资源。除了周四的约会之外,她还参加了每周的家庭作业,重点是幸福感和未来的目标设定)”可知,YouthCare帮助Frankie拥有了稳定的生活,实现她的潜力。故选B项。 3.主旨大意题。结合全文和最后一段“Each of them deserves a path back to stability a stable home, consistent support, and access to treatment services necessary to become well.(他们每个人都应该有一条回归稳定的道路,一个稳定的家,始终如一的支持,以及获得康复所需的治疗服务)”可知,文章通过写Frankie在YouthCare的经历,讲述了我们要学会找到前进所需的支持。由此可知,Finding the Support Needed to Move Forward(找到前进所需的支持)适合作本文最佳标题。故选C项。 (22-23高二上·北京延庆·期末)The Cloud Runners Today, the first thing you see when you drive into the small town of McFarland, California, is a welcome poster. “Home of the State Champions,” it says proudly. Written across the bottom are the names of the members of the running teams that have brought McFarland nine state championships over the past twenty years. Today, this little farming town is the “home of champions”, but things weren’t always like this. It all began with a group of seven young men, who were McFarland High School’s first running team. They were called “cloud runners” because it looked like they were floating on a brown cloud of dust as they carved paths through the surrounding fields. They weren’t a very good team. But the turning point came one hot summer afternoon when the young men were doing hill practice. As there were no hills in McFarland, their coach, Jim White, made them run up and down large piles of nut shells covered in white plastic sheets. “Enough!” one of the young men cried. The sound of breaking shells could be heard as he beat his fists on the sheet. The plastic tore and a river of nut shells poured out. “Do you know what these are, Mr White? They’re almond(巴旦木)shells. Do you know where they come from? My family has been working on farms picking almonds for forty years. You and your family, living in your big comfortable home, eat these without giving a single thought to where they came from. And now you are making us run on them! I’ve had enough!” “We’re losers, Mr White, not winners,” another young man continued, his face wet with tears and sweat. “Nothing has changed here for forty years and nothing’s ever going to change! Running is for rich kids in private schools in the big city, not for us poor farm boys. We can’t even afford real shoes for running. We belong in the fields, picking. We’re ‘pickers’. I’m going home!” Something in Jim White’s heart changed that day. He went into the fields and worked with the “pickers”. He bought running shoes for the boys. He spent evenings having dinner with the boys’ families. His wife baked and sold cookies to raise money. One small act of kindness led to another. Other families began to take notice, and slowly, the entire town came to support Mr White as he helped these young men change from farm workers to champions. 1.Why is the small town of McFarland called “Home of the State Champions”? A.Because Jim White became state championship. B.Because the running teams got nine state championships. C.Because a group of seven young men got championships. D.Because Mr. White changed the farm workers to champions. 2.What made the boy cry in the practice? A.The tiredness of running. B.The pain of training. C.The difficulties of living. D.The sound of breaking shells. 3.Which of the following can best describe Jim White? A.Ambitious and strict. B.Understanding and kind. C.Optimistic and persistent. D.Responsible and confident. 【答案】1.B 2.C 3.B 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。主要讲述了在加州小镇法克麦兰,一支名不见经传的越野赛跑队拿下9次州冠军的追梦经历。 1.细节理解题。根据文章第一段“Written across the bottom are the names of the members of the running teams that have brought McFarland nine state championships over the past twenty years. You and your family, living in your big comfortable home, eat these without giving a single thought to where they came from. (我的家人在农场采摘巴旦木已经有四十年了。你和你的家人,住在舒适的大房子里,吃着这些东西,根本不考虑它们来自哪里。)”和第五段“Nothing has changed here for forty years and nothing’s ever going to change! Running is for rich kids in private schools in the big city, not for us poor farm boys. We can’t even afford real shoes for running. (四十年来这里没有任何改变,也不会有任何改变!跑步是大城市里私立学校的富家子弟的事,不是我们这些乡下穷小子的事。我们甚至买不起真正的跑步鞋。)”可知,队员们都家境贫苦,需要通过繁重的体力劳动养活自己,他们沮丧地认为生活多艰,根本无法追逐梦想,故选C项。 3.推理判断题。根据最后一段“He went into the fields and worked with the “pickers”. He bought running shoes for the boys. He spent evenings having dinner with the boys’ families. His wife baked and sold cookies to raise money. To our left, snow-covered mountains disappear into clouds that seem almost close enough to touch. On the grassland in front of us, we can just make out a herd of graceful animals. This is why we’re here — to observe Tibetan antelopes. Tibetan antelopes live on the plains of Xizang, Xinjiang, and Qinghai. Watching them move slowly across the green grass. I’m struck by their beauty. I’m also reminded of the danger they are in. They are being hunted, illegally, for their valuable fur. My guide is Zhaxi, a villager from Changtang. He works at the Changtang National Nature Rcserve. It covers an arca of about 120,000 square miles. The reserve is a shelter for the animals and plants of northwestern Xizang. To Zhaxi, protecting the wildlife is a way of life. “We’re not trying to save the animals,” he says. “Actually, we’re trying to save ourselves.” The 1980s and 1990s were bad times for the Tibetan antelope. The population dropped by more than 50 percent. Hunters were shooting antelopes to make money. Their habitats were becoming smaller as new roads and railways were built. In order to save this species from extinction, the Chinese government placed it under national protection. Zhaxi and other volunteers watched over the antelopes day and night to keep them safe from attacks. Bridges and gates were added to let the antelopes move easily and keep them safe from cars and trains. The measures were effective. The antelope population has recovered and in June 2015, the Tibetan antelope was removed from the endangered species list. The government, however, does not intend to stop the protection programmes, since the threats to the Tibetan antelope have not yet disappeared. In the evening, I drink a cup of tea and watch the stars. I think about the antelopes and what Zhaxi told me. Much is being done to protect wildlife, but if we really want to save the planet, we must change our way of life. Only when we learn to exist in harmony with nature can we stop being a threat to wildlife and to our planet. 1.Why did the writer visit Xizang? A.To watch the Tibetan antelopes. B.To go on a short hike from camp. C.To see the snow-covered mountains. D.To visit their friend Zhaxi in Changtang. 2.What happened to the Tibetan antelopes in the 1980s and 1990s? A.Their habitats disappeared. B.They were attacked by other animals. C.They were shot by hunters for money. D.Their population dropped by less than 50 percent. 3.What can we know about the Changtang National Nature Reserve? A.It was built by volunteers and villagers. B.Its protection programmes have been stopped. C.It was founded to protect the wildlife that live there. D.Its antelopes are on the list of endangered species now. 4.What does the author intend to tell us? A.The importance of a good lifestyle. B.Protecting wildlife is protecting ourselves. C.Changtang is the best place to observe Tibetan antelopes. D.More volunteers are needed to keep the antelopes from attacks. 【答案】1.A 2.C 3.C 4.B 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。作者在文中记录了去西藏观察藏羚羊的经历,并且在与导游扎西的沟通中了解到保护藏羚羊,保护自然的重要性。由此感悟:人类应与自然和谐共生。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段“On the grassland in front of us, we can just make out a herd of graceful animals. A.Active. B.Funny. C.Humorous. D.Honest. 5.What can we learn from this passage? A.Japanese language didn’t come from Chinese. B.We may all feel fearful when visiting new cities. C.Language may not be a big problem when living in China. D.Hanging out to a KTV is necessary when visiting a new place. (23-24高二上·北京海淀·期末)Adom Appiah, is not your typical High School Junior. A.follow others’ opinions B.try out for popular activities C.appreciate who we really are D.help those who are in trouble (23-24高二上·北京昌平·期末)Alejandro Buxton’s candle business started with a headache. A.Organized and loving. B.Smart and outgoing. C.Caring and creative. D.Generous and honest. (23-24高二上·北京平谷·期末)Marathon Man In 1896, a young man from Greece named Spiridon Louis ran one of the most exciting footraces ever. But Spiridon, who had started out at a slower, steady pace, began to gain ground, and won the first Olympic marathon. A.a news report B.a science survey C.a thanks-giving letter D.an awarding speech (23-24高二上·北京石景山·期末)One day, Lisa Holman told her family she would be out that night visiting her friend, only about half an hour’s drive from her house. (23-24高二上·北京朝阳·期末)The shift from adolescence (青春期) to adulthood can be hard and often filled with hardship and lessons learned, especially for young people experiencing homelessness. A.She realized the value of family affection. B.She had a stable life to achieve her potential. C.She learned the importance of interview confidence. D.She built up her courage to be a mental health doctor. 3.Which would be the best title for the passage? A.Frankie’s Job Hunting in Fitness B.The Friendship between Frankie and Noel C.Finding the Support Needed to Move Forward D.Looking for Reliable Relatives to the Homeless (22-23高二上·北京延庆·期末)The Cloud Runners Today, the first thing you see when you drive into the small town of McFarland, California, is a welcome poster. D.The sound of breaking shells. 3.Which of the following can best describe Jim White? A.Ambitious and strict. B.Understanding and kind. C.Optimistic and persistent. D.Responsible and confident. (22-23高二上·北京房山·期末)The air is thin and we have to rest several times on the short hike from camp. 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!22 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
