(2023-2024学年高二上学期·宿迁市·期末统考)Located in Ontario, Canada, the Niagara Falls is the seventh wonder of the world and the fastest flowing waterfall in the world. When I went to tour it, I found there were some truly amazing ways to ___41___ the waterfall.
One way was to take a ___42___ to the center of the Niagara Falls. Everyone on board was given a raincoat that looked more like a garbage bag. We would need it later on when we got close to the waterfall. There were huge waves and thick mist(迷雾), although we were still far away from Niagara Falls. Inside the mist, another boat approached us. As that boat ___43___, we waved hello to the blue-coated ___44___. After a while, we were as ___45___ as possible to the waterfall, which was like a wall in front of the boat. The ___46___ here was white with huge waves that threatened(有……危险)to ___47___ over the boat. A few minutes was enough to make this a very exciting trip.
Another ___48___ was to go behind the waterfall. This adventure started with everybody walking into a wet and ___49___ tunnel(隧道)one by one. It was ___50___ by several lanterns, making us see the tunnel clearly. As the tunnel came to an end, I could see that we had ___51___ onto a platform at the foot of the waterfall. ___54___ I experienced Niagara Falls, I was shocked by how ___55___ it was. And I look forward to taking the zip line(滑索)next time to view Niagara Falls from the sky. It will definitely be a wonderful time, too.

(2023-2024学年高二上学期·盐城中学·期末校考)There are countless reasons to stay up late; however, here’s one good reason to go to bed.
The less a student sleeps every night, the lower their grade-point average(GPA)will be, according to a two-year study of the sleep habits of more than 600 students.
Researchers found that every lost hour of average nightly sleep at the start of an academic term was associated with a 0.07-point ___41___ in a student’s end-of-term GPA. When a student slept less than six hours a night, the ___42___ of lost sleep on a student’s grades was even more ___43___, said David Creswell, the lead author of the study.
“You’re ___44___ this sleep debt,” Creswell said. “And that has a pretty negative role ___45___ people’s academics.” Sleep, especially uninterrupted sleep, helps the brain ___46___ and memorize information it has learned. And when someone is sleep-deprived, attention span and memory are also damaged.
But students face a variety of “___47___ pressure” that keeps them up late, Creswell said. The average student in the sample group ___48___ fell asleep at about 12:00 p.m. and these students slept about 6 hours a night.
It’s not clear why less sleep would cause someone to have a lower GPA, Creswell said. Sleeping for longer, ___49___ periods of time allows for REM sleep, a period of unconscious rapid eye movement that corresponds with high activity in the brain. Creswell said he ___50___ that a regular pattern of ___51___ sleep creates a “sleep debt” over time, leaving students unable to concentrate. “These students are going to attend their class with a ton of sleep debt, and they’re having trouble staying focused and ___52___ in classrooms,” Creswell said. “Those things can really harm your ability to really ___53___ with the material. What’s more, sleep is so important that it is like the ___54___ that holds students’ lives together in lots of aspects.”
“Fundamentally, it ___55___: If we’re not sleeping well, all systems are not a go,” Creswell said. “Our body is not prepared for the day ahead of us and what we’re asking it to do if we don’t have that good, basic amounts of night-time sleep.”
