Exam stress!
MIM123 ◀REPLY
Hi, guys! I have a big exam next Friday. These days I'm studying for it. Every evening I read my study notes for an hour and then I watch some videos for 15 minutes on my phone to relax! What about you? Do you also worry about exams? What are your study habits?

George de Mestral was an engineer. One day in the 1940s, he was walking his dog in a forest. Lots of burrs(带刺的小果实) stuck to his trousers and he found it hard to get them off.
What made the burrs stick so well? When George got home, he looked at them carefully. He found that each burr had many tiny hooks(挂钩). These hooks could hold onto anything, such as clothes, animals, or even human hair. “Nature is a great engineer!” he thought. “Maybe I can make a new fastener (紧固件) with tiny hooks.”
George decided to weave(编织) tiny hooks on one piece of cloth. By pressing the two pieces together, they would stick to each other. However, it was very hard to make these tiny books. They had to be strong enough to stick to each other. They also needed to be practical, so that the user could pull on them to get them off the books.
George used nylon fibers(尼龙纤维) to make the hooks. After years of hard work, he was able to weave hundreds of tiny hooks onto small pieces of cloth. He set up the Velcro Company in 1952 for making these fasteners.

There were stalls(摊位) selling boxes of chocolates, sweets, jams and so on. All the stall owners were very friendly, explaining their ways of making chocolate, showing us photos of their factories, and, of course, letting us try their products! My friend bought some great chocolate cups— you can drink, and you can eat the chocolate up!
We then went to a class where we learnt how to make big chocolate with dried fruit! I was a little nervous before the class, as there were only 12 students in a class, and I wasn't sure if my French would be good enough to understand everything! Luckily, everyone was very friendly the lady next to me was making notes of everything we did, so she explained the words I didn't understand. In the end, the class stayed in the room and talked about how much we were enjoying the day of eating lots of chocolate! It tasted delicious, and we all got to take some home!
