People may never see this kind of thing in the real world. But in fact it is dangerous for every astronaut when they go on a spacewalk. To protect astronauts, scientists at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in the US make smart spacesuits.

It helps them return to their spaceship if their rope gets lost. But astronauts have to turn on the special bag by hand. So they had better be careful when going on a spacewalk.
The smart spacesuits can take astronauts back to their spaceship safely and easily. They just need to put their hands on the button of the spacesuits. They can tell the astronauts where they are. They can also tell how much air there is in their spacesuits.

Not every one in the world loves operas. However, the Sydney Opera House has to be truly one of the most iconic (标志性的) buildings in the world.
The Sydney Opera House was designed by a Danish architect named Jorn Utzon. Its tops are called “shells” and the design of the “shells” was one of the hardest parts of the project. Jorn Utzon said that the final design of the shells was inspired by peeling an orange. It is said that the shells of all the tops form a ball if connected. Utzon also developed a protection plan for the building.
Though it is beautiful, the design was very difficult to put into practice because nothing like this was done before. Sadly, Utzon had to leave in the middle of the building because of high costs and his bad relationship (关系) with engineers. At last, after 14 years, the building was completed in 1973, at a total cost of about 102 million Australian dollars. But the architect never returned to Australia to see the completed building.
The Sydney Opera House has been described as the building that changed a nation. It was like, suddenly, Australia was on the world map. People don’t think Australians just eat pies or go to the beach. They have a valuable culture, too.
Today, the Opera House hosts over 40 shows a week. There’s something for everyone: operas, ballets, concerts, pop art and so on. But if you want to watch international performances, you really have to book far, far ahead.

Tips for Green Travel with Kids
Travelling doesn’t mean not considering all the environment-friendly choices we work so hard to achieve in our daily life. Here are a few tips for green travel with kids.
Booking nonstop flights whenever possible will reduce carbon emissions (碳排放). If the closest local airport doesn’t have nonstop flights to a certain place, check other local airports to see if there are nonstop flights. 41
When you’re travelling by car, it’s easy to find fast food restaurants for snacks. 42 My kids love to help plan snacks. I let them create their own snacks for the trip at home.
Reusable water bottles are easy to bring along. Whenever you travel at the airport, keep your reusable bottles empty until you have passed through the security checkpoint (安检关卡). 43 Single-use plastic water bottles create unnecessary waste and the plastic can be harmful to your health.
44 Turn off the tap after washing your hand. Open a few windows and turn off the air conditioner. You should also help your children keep their good, green habits from home to hotel while travelling. Sometimes vacation can mean more than one shower each day—once in the morning and again after getting out of the swimming pool. Pay attention to the number of showers and the length of showers. 45
A.In this way, you can save water and energy.
B.But you can pack healthy food before starting off.
C.Fill them up on the other side.
D.You might have to drive a bit further, but it is totally worthwhile.
E.Save energy by turning off the hotel room lights when you go out.

Some people a 47 went to space with their spaceships. Because of the w 48 gravity and other environmental factors (环境因素) in space, they could only stay for a short time there.
It is no longer a dream for people to l 49 the Earth for space.

A.design B.meaning C.beauty D.shape

45.根据前文“Sometimes vacation can mean more than one shower each day — once in the morning and again after getting out of the swimming pool. Pay attention to the number of showers and the length of showers.”可知,提到了注意淋浴的次数和时间,空处应是给出这样做的理由。选项A“这样,你可以节约水和能源。”符合语境,故选A。
