An Application Letter Writing Dear distinguished experts, good morning！ My teaching content is to write an application letter. Now, I will present my class from the following seven aspects: the analysis of the teaching material, the analysis of the students, teaching aims and teaching key point and difficult point, the analysis of teaching and learning methods, teaching aids, teaching procedures and teaching reflection. I. The analysis of the teaching material Writing, which is a form of testing students’ ability to apply for English, belongs to the part of language output. Meanwhile, it also undertake the cultivation of students’ language ability, cultural awareness, thinking capacity, and learning ability, implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. In order to review the ways of writing an English application letter, this class can be developed from aspects, which are how to write an application letter and what to write. The teacher guides students to review the writing structure, relevant information and expressions through TPS. The theme of the content belongs to people and society, in which the subject groups belong to the social services and interpersonal communication, which requires to do public welfare and volunteer service. In the writing content, the background information is that the 8th Liupanshui Tourism and Culture Industry Development Conference is recruiting volunteers to serve the foreign guests, which not only lets students learn the big event occurring in our hometown, but also inspires them to think of the spirit of being volunteers-that is to spread love and to serve the society. II. The analysis of the students As senior high school students, they have mastered a certain foundation for writing English application letters through the first round revision and the ability to analyse writing task and gain some useful expressions. However, their abilities to use knowledge is weak. They lack the abilities to analyse and summarize so it is difficult to express their opinions appropriately. III. The analysis of teaching aims and teaching key and difficult point According to the subject core competencies ,our learning aims are: 1. to review and consolidate the basic structure of the application letter; 2. to master the vocabulary and expressions of the application letter. 3. to summarize the spirit of volunteers and motivate students to contribute a strength to the development of their hometown.     On the basis of the above analysis,the key point of this lesson is :through reviewing each writing point of the application letter,students will pay attention to the  details and logical linking in the writing process.The difficult point is:how to expand students’ divergent thinking. IV. The analysis of teaching and learning methods Our teaching methods is task-based language teaching method. In  order  to cultivate students’ writing ability, the teaching process work as designed like this; lead-in, analysis ,writing,sharing and evaluation.  Purpose: This teaching method can interests their learning and enrich  their vocabulary in the form of student-centered,task-driven and group work. So as to help students improve their English writing level. Learning methods: group work,this learning method can help students break through the difficult point and help them cultivate their creative thinking,as well as offer ideas for the students with poor English.Independent learning.This method can improve students’ self-learning ability by summarizing writing tips and relevant expressions,Self-presentation. Students can practise their oral English and express themselves bravely and confidently through reading and present their writing with a projector. V. The analysis of the teaching aids The using of PPT can present the key points clearly. Learning plan is used for students to write on normally. Project can be used to show writing composition conveniently. Blackboard and chalk are used to present the key points clearly and summary. VI. The analysis of teaching and learning methods 1. Before—writing Step 1: Using video to import. Let students appreciate the beauty of their hometown and lead out writing tasks. (to enable students to understand the big events of their hometown and to inspire them to think about the spirit of volunteers, that is—to spread love and to serve our society. ) Step2:students read the writing task and sort out the structure of writing. (to reflect students' learning ability and thinking ability. ) 2.while—writing Step 3: Students write paragraph 1. (to consolidate the main points of writing in the first paragraph. ） Step 4: Students share paragraph 1. The teacher will timely make comments. (to enhance students' language expression ability and self-confidence.) Step 5: Students discuss the advantages of volunteers in groups. (to cultivate students' divergent thinking and improve their teamwork ability.） Step 6: Students share their ideas and the the teacher guides the students to sort out the writing points of the second paragraph. Step7:Students write paragraph 2. The teacher timely guides those who need help in their writing. Step 8: Students share paragraph 2. The teacher makes a timely comment . (to develop the students’ confident language expression skills by sharing paragraph2.) Step 9: students write paragraph 3 . 3. Post—writing Step 10: students correct each other’s composition according to the mutual evaluation standard. (to make it more clear for the students to master the skills of how to write an application letter) Step11：Students display his /her composition. (to enhance students' confidence by sharing and motivate them to learn from each other.) Step 12: summary. Let the students do a self-summary,the teacher needs to guide the students to summarize what they haven’t summarized . Step 13: Homework. Let students better their writing after class from the following aspects,such as handwriting, grammar, sentence structure, linking words and spelling and so on. (to cultivate students' self-examination and self-correction abilities.) 4.Blackboard design: write structure and key points on the left, and vocabulary on the right.
