It was a hot summer day and I had just pulled into the gas station to fill up my car. Aftcr filling
it up, I started to walk inside to pay. That is when I noticed them. Two elderly women were standing
back from their car. There was shock and fear on their faces, I looked and saw what they saw, five
yellow jackets (小黄蜂) building a nest around their gas cap. I suddenly felt scared. I shared the
ladies'fear.
Yellow jackets have never been friends of mine. Several times these wasps (黄 峰) have
attacked me while I was cutting the grass, stinging(垫) me each time I ran over their nests. The
worst time, however, was when I was a young boy. A friend of mine and I were playing in my
backyard. I must have stepped on one of their nests again because before I knew it, both of us were
being chased and stung by the yellow jackets while we ran away screaming. I ran to my mom with
tears in my eyes. She ran a cold bath and put us both in it to ease (减轻) the pain before giving us
medicine to help us feel better
Still, I knew I couldn't let fear stop me now. I. reached into my pocket for a paper towel I had
there, tore out the nest and stepped on it while the wasps buzzed around me. Both of the ladies
thanked me for what I did
You can't let the fear of being stung-either physically or emotionally-keep you from doing
what is right. We need to love each other and change the world for the better. And the only way you
can do this is through helpful acts and kindness. Don't let the yellow jackets in your life hold you
back.

In my opinion, the wheel is the most important thing that human beings have ever invented. I
might seem strartge to 3ay mat something so simple-looking and so common could be so important.
Firstly, wheels influence almost every part of our lives. Wheels are used, for example, in clocks
machines and cars. If you visit just one factory, you will see how important wheels are. 67__
Secondly, wheels play a great part in food production. Wheels are used to grind (磨碎) differen
kinds of corn into flour (面i粉). They are then used to mix flour and other foods into bread. We also
need wheels to transport (运输) the wheat (小麦). 68__
Thirdly, our world would be completely different if we did not have the wheel for transport
Before the wheel was invented, people used to have to travel on foot or by riding on an animal
They didn't know where to put their heavy bags.69 That is what we would be doing now
if we did not have the wheel. Everything would take longer to do
We would be back to the Stone Age if the clever ancient peoplo had not invented the wheel
Our modern world would simply be impossible. 70.
A. It took long to finish their journeys.
B. You will see wheels on almost every machine
C. The wheel is surely the most important invention of all time.
D. But if you consider the following points, you will probably agree with me.
E. If we did not have the wheel, we would have much difficulty in food production.
