Sharon, Aged 22
The most important thing to keep in mind when you go to high school is to be yourself. Besides, I don't know
what your middle school life was like, but high school teachers will not care about things such as how much
homework you already have in one night. It's best to just learn to deal with things and manage your time wisely so
that you can achieve your goal.
Frank, Aged 21
I think almost every kid feels both nervous and excited before their first day of high school.
But don't worry, you will probably love it. You can join in some activities that will make your high school life
more enjoyable. Good luck!
Eddie, Aged 20
When I started high school, I was really nervous, since I had been homeschooled all through middle school
and didn't really know anyone. I suppose the best advice would be to just relax. The first couple of days can be a
little bit hard, but things will become easier before you know it.
David, Aged 19
I'm not going to lie. The first day of high school is kind of frightening. But you'll get used to it. Don't be
afraid and just take it easy. Making some friends and staying with them will greatly help you get used to high
school quickly.
After the first week it's really not bad at all.
21. What can we infer from Sharon's words about high school?
A. Teachers are quite strict. B. Students often stay up late at night.
C. Teachers provide little care for their students. D. Students should make good use of their time.
22. How did Eddie feel on his first day of high school?
A. Excited. B. Bored. C. Relaxed. D. Worried.

they won 4:2 and won the gold medal.

also won honor for the Chinese table tennis team at this Olympics. Their excellent performance makes Chinese
people proud. It is believed that they will create more glories in the future.

Early on Wednesday morning, a big rocket called Long March-2F Y19 took off from Jiuquan in Northwest
China. It carried three astronauts on a trip to the China Space Station.
After about 10 minutes, the Shenzhou-19 spacecraft separated from the rocket and entered its designated
orbit (轨道) . This meant the launch was a success!
高一年级 英语试卷 第 5 页 共 10 页
The China Space Station will welcome the new Shenzhou-19 crew, led by experienced astronaut Cai Xuzhe
and newcomers Song Lingdong and female astronaut Wang Haoze, about 6.5 hours after takeoff.
Commander (指令长)Cai is going back to space just 22 months after his last trip, which is a record for the
shortest time between missions in the history of Chinese astronauts. Song and Wang, both born in 1990, are on
their first space mission. Wang is also China's first female spaceflight engineer.
This is the fourth time that astronauts have flown to the space station to work and do experiments, and it's the
33rd mission in China's manned space program. The main tasks include switching crews with the Shenzhou-18
astronauts, staying on the station for six months, doing space experiments, going outside the spacecraft and
managing cargo (货物) and so on.
After launch, Shenzhou-19 will connect to the Tianhe module of the space station about 6.5 hours later.
During their stay, they will get supplies from the Tianzhou-8 cargo spacecraft and be visited by the Shenzhou-20
crew. They will come back to Earth in late April or early May.
The Shenzhou-18 crew will return to Earth on November 4 after the new crew arrives.

carry more supplies. This helps the astronauts and makes the space station work more effectively.

Teens and their teachers know well that early-morning classes can be tiring. Doctors now have a solution: for

better teen health, push the sleep button on school start times. Janet Croft, who studies teens and sleep at the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta high schools, says, “Most teens are actually brain
dead when they go to these early classes. Too many students start their day as walking zombies(僵尸).”
One report stresses the importance of sleep for teens and describes the dangers from not getting enough sleep.
Studies in the past have shown over and over that teens lacking sleep face higher risks of being overweight and
being frustrated.
Many teens get too little sleep because they attend middle and high schools that start earlier than 8:30 am.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics(AAP),those early start times throw off a student’s internal body
rhythm, called the circadian clock(生物钟).Too little sleep disturbs that clock and causes problems.
The study conducted by the National Sleep Foundation found that nearly 6 in every 10 middle school
students and 9 in 10 high school students are sleeping too little. Yet many parents aren’t aware of this. In the same
study,7 of every 10 parents said they believed their kids did sleep enough. That study shows too many parents are
unaware of the science on teen-sleep needs, says Owens.
Kyla Wahlstrom, a former teacher, who has spent a lot of time with teens lacking sleep, says: “An incredible
number of students are either sleeping at their desks or sitting there like a lump, not asking questions or raising
their hands.”
Getting enough sleep can help a teen on the inside, too. Several studies have shown that children and
teenagers who don’t sleep enough are more likely to become obese, or extremely overweight. Teens lacking sleep
also are more likely to suffer from anxiety, depression and mood disorders. It’s time to recognize how important
sleep is, particularly to teenagers.
32. What does the author want to stress by mentioning “walking zombies” in Paragraph 2?
A. The students’ brain health is worrying.
B. The students are fond of computer games.
C. The students are so used to staying up very late.
D. The students are in a bad state of learning in early classes.
33. According to AAP in Paragraph 4, early school schedules affect teens by _________.
A. increasing their course load
B. affecting their circadian clock
C. affecting their performance at school
D. disturbing their relationships with classmates
34. What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A. The number of teens lacking sleep is growing fast.
高一年级 英语试卷 第 7 页 共 10 页
B. Physical and mental health are equally important to teens.
C. It is really necessary to adjust school start times in the morning.
D. Teachers should take measures to raise students’ interest in learning.
35. What’s the main idea of the text?
A. Parents are unaware of their kids’ sleep condition.
B. Being overweight is very common among American teens.
C. Early school start times can turn teens into the walking dead.
D. Researchers have found out how sleep is related to teens’ study.

Starting high school is a great experience for every teenager. Whether you are coming from the countryside

to drink and smoke often increases in high school. 38
Although there is a lot of pressure, it is nothing you cannot deal with. If you are feeling pressure to do
something that you feel is wrong, talk to a friend, parent or counsellor to find a solution. 39 If you are not
successful academically, find someone to help you. If you feel lonely, try to join a school club or group to make
new friends.
40 With time, you will come to be thankful for everything about your experience. On the point of
starting you high school, are you ready?
A. You will experience many changes.

范文
Dear Miss Zhang,
A good parent-child relationship, based on understanding and respect, is of great benefit to teenagers’ mental and physical health, allowing them to explore this world confidently and freely.
Teenagers and parents can work together to set up a good parent-child relationship. The key to avoiding tensions and keeping the peace is regular and honest communication. For parents, it is advisable to treat children as independent individuals, listening to children’s ideas and encouraging them to think on their own rather than decide everything for them.
Meanwhile, when teenagers disagree with parents and a conflict is on the way, take a minute to calm down and try to understand the situation from parents’ point of view. Please remember that everything will turn out all right in the end!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

1.W: What’s your dream job?
M: From junior high school days, I knew how to make things taste good and I am really good at it. So I think that’s what I’d like to do when I graduate.
2.W: Have you ever seen the movie Nezha? I’m going to see it this weekend.
M: No, not yet. Who are you going with?
W: With Amy. You can come with us if you want to.
M: I’d like to, but I have a few things to do on the weekend.
3.M: Excuse me, I think you charged me too much for the tea.
W: Oh, let me see. Sorry, it’s correct.
M: But tea is only $1.25.
W: You are right. Tea is $1.25, but you drank two.
4. W: Excuse me, can you tell me the way to the nearest bank please?
M: Yes. Go along this street and turn right. The bank is on the left, opposite a school.
W: Turn right and it’s on the left. Thank you!
M: You’re welcome!
5.M: What do you recommend to me to ease my flu?
W: Try making a combination of honey, lemon, and a little cinnamon, and heat it slightly. A few spoons of this will help you feel better.
M: Ah, that sounds helpful! I should try it. Thank you for your tip!
6-7 W: Hi, Johnny! Where are you going?
M: Hi, Dorothy! I’m going to the cinema.
W: Oh, really? With whom? Your girlfriend? Anyone in your class?
M: Hey, Dorothy. I don’t have a girlfriend. Don’t upset me. I go alone.
W: Oh! Sorry! I didn’t know that. That’s too bad. I’ll go with you.
M: No, thanks. Just leave me alone.
W: Hmm... Okay. Have a good time, Johnny.
M: Thanks. See you tomorrow at school.
8-9 W: Hey, Jude. What are you doing here?
M: Oh, thank goodness you’re here. I need your help.
W: What’s the problem?
M: Well, I have to give a presentation in class tomorrow morning and I really need to practise it beforehand.
W: So, you need someone to help you give it a try?
M: Bingo! Do you have time to help me out?
W: No problem. When do you want to practice?
M: Right away.

10-12 W: How was your trip?
M: It was really fun, but I don’t think the family that I visited will invite me back.
W: Why not?
M: Well, I guess I asked some embarrassing questions while I was visiting.
W: What do you mean? What did you ask?
M: I asked the father how much his car cost. And I asked the mother how much money she made in her job.
W: Oh, yeah. That’s considered to be personal information.
M: I know. I’m not sure why I asked those questions. I guess I was just nervous.
W: Why don’t you send them an email and explain that you didn’t mean to ask inappropriate questions, but that you were nervous? And thank them for letting you stay with them.
M: That’s a good idea. At least it will make me feel better.

13-16.W: When studying English, don’t you think an electronic dictionary is necessary?
M: I can’t agree more. So I bought one last Sunday.
W: Really? It is considerably expensive.
M: Will you buy one, too?
W: Yes, I will. I went to a department store last Saturday. But I didn’t buy one, because it was too expensive for me.
M: A department store? Everything is expensive there.
W: Well, where should I go and buy one then?
M: I bought mine at the Young Electronic Mall. That place offers low priced goods, and has various sorts of electronic dictionaries to choose from.
W: Well, then I could make a careful comparison of them and see which one is better. How about going shopping with me at the Young Electronic Mall?
M: Of course, I will!

W: The United Nations says over 250 million children of primary school age cannot read, write or do basic maths. 120 million children have spent little or no time on school. Countries are poorer when children do not go to school. Each year, countries lose up to $130 billion. The UN says there is a global “learning crisis”. In one-third of countries, 75% of primary school teachers do not have enough training. The UN says it is important “to focus on quality”.
Most children not going to school are girls. Countries get richer if girls go to school—up to 25% richer in 40 years. Almost two thirds of girls in Arab countries and parts of Africa may never go to school. In Yemen, just 36% of girls can read and write. Reuters says poorer girls in developing countries won’t be able to read or write until 2072. The good news is that in Laos, Rwanda and Vietnam, the number of children not going to school has fallen by 85% in the last five years.

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

Sharon, Aged 22
The most important thing to keep in mind when you go to high school is to be yourself. Besides, I don't know what your middle school life was like, but high school teachers will not care about things such as how much homework you already have in one night. It's best to just learn to deal with things and manage your time wisely so that you can achieve your goal.
Frank, Aged 21
I think almost every kid feels both nervous and excited before their first day of high school.
But don't worry, you will probably love it. You can join in some activities that will make your high school life more enjoyable. Good luck!
Eddie, Aged 20
When I started high school, I was really nervous, since I had been homeschooled all through middle school and didn't really know anyone. I suppose the best advice would be to just relax. The first couple of days can be a little bit hard, but things will become easier before you know it.
David, Aged 19
I'm not going to lie. The first day of high school is kind of frightening. But you'll get used to it. Don't be afraid and just take it easy. Making some friends and staying with them will greatly help you get used to high school quickly.
A. Excited. B. Bored. C. Relaxed. D. Worried.

Early on Wednesday morning, a big rocket called Long March-2F Y19 took off from Jiuquan in Northwest China. It carried three astronauts on a trip to the China Space Station.
After about 10 minutes, the Shenzhou-19 spacecraft separated from the rocket and entered its designated
orbit (轨道) . This meant the launch was a success!
Song and Wang, both born in 1990, are on their first space mission. Wang is also China's first female spaceflight engineer.
This is the fourth time that astronauts have flown to the space station to work and do experiments, and it's the 33rd mission in China's manned space program. The main tasks include switching crews with the Shenzhou-18 astronauts, staying on the station for six months, doing space experiments, going outside the spacecraft and managing cargo (货物) and so on.
After launch, Shenzhou-19 will connect to the Tianhe module of the space station about 6.5 hours later.
During their stay, they will get supplies from the Tianzhou-8 cargo spacecraft and be visited by the Shenzhou-20 crew. They will come back to Earth in late April or early May.
The Shenzhou-18 crew will return to Earth on November 4 after the new crew arrives.
For this mission, the developers made the Shenzhou-19 spacecraft better by improving its design, so it can carry more supplies. This helps the astronauts and makes the space station work more effectively.
28. What does the underlined word "designated" mean in the second paragraph?
A. Planned B. Named C. Changed D. Tested
29. What is Wang Haoze's special achievement?
A. She is the young. B. She is the first female leader.
C. She is China's first female spaceflight engineer. D. She has flown to the space station four times
30. Which of the following statements is TRUE?
A. Shenzhou-19 separated from the rocket after 20 minutes
B. Cai Xuzhe is on his first space mission.
C. The Shenzhou-18 will return on November 14.
D. Improvements in the spacecraft design allow it to carry more supplies.
31. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?
A. A Successful Launch of Shenzhou-19
B. The History of China's Space Exploration
C. The Main Tasks of Shenzhou-18 Crew
D. The Development of China's Space Technology

Teens and their teachers know well that early-morning classes can be tiring. Doctors now have a solution: for better teen health, push the sleep button on school start times. Janet Croft, who studies teens and sleep at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta high schools, says, “Most teens are actually brain dead when they go to these early classes. Too many students start their day as walking zombies(僵尸).”
One report stresses the importance of sleep for teens and describes the dangers from not getting enough sleep. Studies in the past have shown over and over that teens lacking sleep face higher risks of being overweight and being frustrated.
Many teens get too little sleep because they attend middle and high schools that start earlier than 8:30 am. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics(AAP),those early start times throw off a student’s internal body rhythm, called the circadian clock(生物钟).Too little sleep disturbs that clock and causes problems.
The study conducted by the National Sleep Foundation found that nearly 6 in every 10 middle school students and 9 in 10 high school students are sleeping too little. Yet many parents aren’t aware of this. In the same study,7 of every 10 parents said they believed their kids did sleep enough. That study shows too many parents are unaware of the science on teen-sleep needs, says Owens.
Kyla Wahlstrom, a former teacher, who has spent a lot of time with teens lacking sleep, says: “An incredible number of students are either sleeping at their desks or sitting there like a lump, not asking questions or raising their hands.”
Getting enough sleep can help a teen on the inside, too. Several studies have shown that children and teenagers who don’t sleep enough are more likely to become obese, or extremely overweight. Teens lacking sleep also are more likely to suffer from anxiety, depression and mood disorders. It’s time to recognize how important sleep is, particularly to teenagers.

Whether you are coming from the countryside or the city, there are many things about high school that are different from your old school environment. 36
