But why is that? Why do some people seem to always be at odds with those around them? There are potential explanations for why someone might have trouble getting along with others. One reason might be that they’re simply not used to being around people. If someone is used to being alone, they might not know how to act around other people. They might not know how to start a conversation or how to keep one going. Another reason why someone might have trouble getting along with others is that they might not be very social. Some people are just naturally quiet and shy and don’t enjoy being around large groups of people. This can make it difficult for them to get along with others because they might not know how to act in social situations. Lastly, some people have trouble getting along with others because they might not be very empathetic Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. If someone isn’t very empathetic, they might not be able to understand why someone is feeling a certain way. This can make it hard for them to understand and care about them or offer any support. While there are a few different reasons why someone might have trouble getting along with others, there are also a few different solutions. One solution is to simply try to be more understanding. If you can try to see things from the other person’s perspective (视角), it might be easier for you to get along with them. Another solution is to try to be more social. If you’re not outgoing, it can be challenging to break out of your comfort zone and actively seek out new social experiences. Go to events, meet new people, and put yourself in new situations. The more you do this, the easier it will be for you to get along with others. Lastly, try to be more empathetic. If you’re not very empathetic, try to practice being more understanding and supportive towards others. With time and practice, you should be able to get along with others much better. 4. What might be a reason why some people are not able to start conversations? A. They are sometimes quiet. B. They need more social skills. C. They are usually alone. D. They are not empathetic. 5. How can someone who is not outgoing improve their ability to get along with others? A. By being more understanding. B. By avoiding social situations. C. By developing empathy. D. By seeking new social experiences. 6. What does the text suggest about empathy? A. It is a natural character that someone was born with. B. It is a skill that can be learned and practiced. C. It is the most important factor in getting along with others. D. It is the most effective way to build relationships. 7. How is the text developed? A. Problems — Reasons — Solutions. B. Problems — Effects — Reasons. C. Reasons — Effects — Solutions. D. Effects — Solutions — Reasons. C 5. D 6. B 7. 根据第二段中的“If someone is used to being alone, they might not know how to act around other people. They might not know how to start a conversation or how to keep one going. (如果一个人习惯独处,他们可能不知道如何与他人相处。他们可能不知道如何开始谈话,也不知道如何让谈话继续下去。)”可知,有些人习惯了独处,不知道如何与别人相处,也不知道如何开始交谈,由此可知,有些人无法开始交谈的原因是他们习惯了独处。故选C项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第二段中的“If you’re not outgoing, it can be challenging to break out of your comfort zone and actively seek out new social experiences. Go to events, meet new people, and put yourself in new situations. The more you do this, the easier it will be for you to get along with others. (如果你性格不外向,那么走出自己的舒适区,积极寻求新的社交体验将是一项挑战。参加活动,结识新朋友,把自己置身于新环境中。你这样做得越多,你就越容易与他人相处。)”可知,一个不外向的人可以通过寻求新的社交体验来提高与他人相处的能力。故选D项。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据尾段的“Lastly, try to be more empathetic. If you’re not very empathetic, try to practice being more understanding and supportive towards others. With time and practice, you should be able to get along with others much better. (最后,试着多一点同理心。如果你不是很有同理心,试着练习更多地理解和支持他人。随着时间的推移和练习,你应该能够与他人相处得更好。)”可知,如果你不是很有同理心,试着练习更多地理解和支持他人,随着时间的推移和练习,应该能与他人相处的更好,由此可知,同理心是一种可以学习和练习的技能。故选B项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“It’s no secret that some people have a harder time getting along with others than others. But why is that? Why do some people seem to always be at odds with those around them? (众所周知,有些人比其他人更难与人相处。为什么会这样呢?为什么有些人似乎总是与周围的人不和?)”可知,第一段提出问题;根据第二段“There are potential explanations for why someone might have trouble getting along with others. (对于为什么有些人与他人相处有困难,有一些潜在的解释。)”、第三段中的“Another reason why someone might have trouble getting along with others is that they might not be very social. (有些人可能与他人相处困难的另一个原因是他们可能不太善于社交。)”以及第四段中的“Lastly, some people have trouble getting along with others because they might not be very empathetic (有同感的). (最后,有些人很难与他人相处,因为他们可能不是很善解人意。)”可知,此处分析了有些人很难与他人相处的原因;根据第五段中的“While there are a few different reasons why someone might have trouble getting along with others, there are also a few different solutions. (虽然有些人与他人相处困难的原因不同,但也有一些不同的解决方案。一个解决办法就是尽量多理解别人。)”;第六段中的“Another solution is to try to be more social. (另一个解决办法是试着多参与社交活动。)”以及最后一段中的“Lastly, try to be more empathetic. (最后,试着多一点同理心。)”可知,该部分给出如何与他人相处的解决方法,综合以上信息可知,本文是按照“问题——原因——解决方案”展开的。故选A项。 C The hike to the lost Incan city of Choquequirao is one of the most difficult in Peru. From the town of Cachora, which is 161km west of Cusco, it's an 18km walk to Capuliyoc Mountain, then down to Playa Rosalina, where travellers camp for the night. Waking early, travelers then have to cross the Apurímac River and walk uphill to camp close to the ruins. Then, the next morning, it's another 2km walk up to the ruins, 3, 100m above sea level. To get back? Well, it's the same way you came. “I've had people in their 60s and 70s do it,” said Juan Barrios, a guide from the Adventure Life company. “But some people come out thinking that because it's only 28km from the drop off they can do it in a day. Six or seven days for the hike is best.” It makes sense, then, that Choquequirao draws only about 30 people a day during the high season (June through August). Compare that to the 2, 500 people who arrive each day at the famous Incan city of Machu Picchu. But for those who make the journey, the rewards (回报) are great: beautiful mountain views at every turn, and the chance to explore the wonderful ruins nearly alone. Believed to be created around the same time as Machu Picchu, in 1445, Choquequirao is actually larger than better-known Machu Picchu. But very little has been written about Peru's other lost city and researchers are still uncovering new parts of the ruins, leaving life on the mountain relatively untouched. But officials say that the building of the first cable car (缆车) to Choquequirao will shorten the several-day walk to a 15-minute cable car ride. As a result, the number of travellers that now make the journey each week could turn into 3,000 visitors per day. Choquequirao is beautiful now because of how untouched it is. Even though the lost city was discovered by Spanish explorer Juan Arias Díaz in 1710, the ruins still make you feel as though you're the first to find them. Will it be the same when more travellers flood in (大量涌入)? 8. What does the first paragraph centre on? A. How tall Choquequirao is. B. How to get to Choquequirao easily. C. What great views Choquequirao has. D. How hard the trip to Choquequirao is. 9. In what way is Choquequirao different from Machu Picchu? A. Choquequirao is older. B. Choquequirao is quieter. C. Choquequirao is smaller. D. Choquequirao is better known. 10. How are the ruins of Choquequirao? A. They're still being dug out. B. They're in a generally poor condition. C. They're being renewed at the moment. D. They've been researched internationally. 11. What does the author think of Choquequirao in the future? A. It will be more attractive. B. It will develop at a slow speed. C. It won't necessarily take a turn for the better. D. It won't be more popular than Machu Picchu. D 9. B 10. A 11. 通读第一段,尤其是“The hike to the lost Incan city of Choquequirao is one of the most difficult in Peru.(前往失踪的印加城市Choquequirao的徒步旅行是秘鲁最困难的旅行之一)”可知,第一段的中心是去Choquequirao的旅程有多难,故选D。 根据第三段的“It makes sense, then, that Choquequirao draws only about 30 people a day during the high season (June through August). Compare that to the 2, 500 people who arrive each day at the famous Incan city of Machu Picchu.(因此,Choquequirao在旺季(6月到8月)每天只吸引大约30人就说得通了。相比之下,每天有2500人抵达印加著名城市马丘比丘)”可知,Choquequirao不同于马丘比丘,Choquequirao更安静。故选B。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第三段的“But very little has been written about Peru's other lost city and researchers are still uncovering new parts of the ruins, leaving life on the mountain relatively untouched.(但关于秘鲁另一座失落的城市的报道很少,研究人员仍在发掘废墟的新部分,使山上的生活相对未受影响)”可知,Choquequirao的废墟仍在挖掘中。故选A。 根据最后一段的“Choquequirao is beautiful now because of how untouched it is. Even though the lost city was discovered by Spanish explorer Juan Arias Díaz in 1710, the ruins still make you feel as though you're the first to find them. Will it be the same when more travellers flood in (大量涌入)?(Choquequirao现在很美,因为它是如此的原汁原味。尽管这座失落的城市是在1710年由西班牙探险家胡安·阿里亚斯(Juan Arias) Díaz发现的,但它的废墟仍然会让你觉得自己是第一个发现它们的人。当更多的游客涌入时,情况还会一样吗?)”可推知,Choquequirao在未来不一定会变得更好,故选C。 D Gold Coast family holidays are always great fun whether you are from Australia or from abroad. There are beautiful beaches, adventure parks, nature parks and so much more. There are so many sights to see here. It is a pity to drive in a car and you'll miss a great part of it. Australia is home to many animals and birds that can only be seen when moving slowly and going into the areas that they live. When you are on a bicycle, you have the advantage of being able to stop whenever you want to see an interesting animal or bird that you have never seen before. It is a quieter mode(方式) of transportation as well, so you might even be able to take a picture. When you are on the beach, you can breathe that clean air and view the beauty of the water and sand. It is a totally different experience from either simply sunbathing or passing it in a car. There are many choices of hiring a bicycle to experience the Gold Coast attractions. There are stores that will fit a bike perfectly to your size. These bikes for both adults and children are in many styles and colors to please any taste. If you have ever wanted to try a tandem bike (双人单车), now is your chance, because they have those too. A bicycle hire on Gold Coast is something that everyone should try at least once. This is a wonderful chance for anyone who likes to cycle and it is also a cheap way to travel with your family. 12. You'd better not drive in a car on Gold Coast because  . A. you will break the traffic rules B. you will cause much noise C. you can't enjoy the beautiful sights well D. you can't drive into some parks 13. The following advantages of hiring bikes are mentioned EXCEPT that  . How to hire bikes on Gold Coast. B. What kinds of bikes there are in stores. C. What bikes are the most popular. D. Who can hire bikes on Gold Coast. 15. What's the author's attitude towards a bike hire on Gold Coast? A. He supports it very much. B. He thinks it's a personal choice. C. He doesn't like this way of traveling. D. He thinks it's only good for adults. C 13. D 14. B 15. 根据第二段“There are so many sights to see here. It is a pity to drive in a car and you’ll miss a great part of it.” 根据第三段“...being able to stop whenever you want to see an interesting animal or bird...be able to take a picture”(无论你什么时候想看一个有趣的动物或一只鸟你都可以停下来,你可以拍照)可知,A、C正确;根据最后一段的“a cheap way to travel”可知,B正确;根据第三段的“It is a totally different experience from either simply sunbathing or passing it in a car.”(骑自行车游览和单纯的日光浴及开车是完全不一样的经历)可知,D项骑自行车是做日光浴的好方法,是错误的,故选D。 根据第四段“There are many choices of hiring a bicycle...These bikes for both adults and children are in many styles and colors...try a tandem bike”(租赁自行车有很多选择,成年人和孩子们的自行车有很多样式和颜色),因此推断本段主要介绍的是商店里自行车的种类,故选B。 根据最后一段“everyone should try at least once...a wonderful chance...(每个人都应当尝试一次……一个极好的机会)”可推断,对于自行车租赁,作者是极力推荐的,故选A。 第二节 七选五(共5小题,每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 I have collected some examples that should be an inspiration to anyone who desires to be successful. B It’s no secret that some people have a harder time getting along with others than others. A Problems — Reasons — Solutions. B. Problems — Effects — Reasons. C. Reasons — Effects — Solutions. D. Effects — Solutions — Reasons. C The hike to the lost Incan city of Choquequirao is one of the most difficult in Peru. C.
