She was heartbroken, but thinking someone must have taken it away, she gave up the idea of going back to look for it and didn’t phone the station to ask about it. But her tears quickly dried when an off-duty firefighter named Nyma showed up at her door. A ring camera caught Georgia and Nyma’s exchange, and the owner of Bows Boutique posted the video on the store’s Instagram page. In it, Nyma rings her doorbell and Georgia answers it using a phone app. Nyma explained where he found the lost purse and said he decided to drive straight to her house, so she wouldn’t have to experience an extra moment of panic. Georgia was moved to tears and kept offering to send Nyma money for his good deed, but he refused. He simply asked her to pay it forward, and explained that it was no trouble for him though Georgia knew he needed to drive hours to her house. Because she wasn’t home at the time, he left the purse in an empty garbage bag and left. The owner and Georgia were so touched by the gesture, and they started a search for the mystery man so they could give him a proper “thank you”. Georgia uploaded the video. It didn’t take long to find him. They invited him to the store for an official meet — and he went. “He is such a kind man,” reads another post. “It was an absolute pleasure to meet him. The video has got millions of views and we hope he will be a positive influence on many. ” 24. How did Georgia respond when realizing she lost her purse? A She did nothing to recover it. B. She made a phone call to the station. C. She planned to go back to look for it. D. She believed someone would send it to her. 25. Which can best describe Nyma? A. Devoted and generous. B. Energetic and independent. C. Honest and considerate. D. Responsible and hard-working. 26. What did Nyma advise Georgia to do? A. Pass on the kindness. B. Be more careful next time. C. Meet at the gas station for safety. D. Empty the garbage bag for her purse. 27. What can be the best title for the text? A. Two Strangers Meet for the First Time B. An Unexpected Meet with a Firefighter C. A Moving Journey Recorded on Social Media D. A Firefighter Drives Hours to Return a Purse 【答案】24. A 25. C 26. A 27. 根据文章第一段“but thinking someone must have taken it away, she gave up the idea of going back to look for it and didn’t phone the station to ask about it.(但她认为一定是有人把它拿走了,于是她放弃了回去找的想法,也没有给加油站打电话询问。)” 故选A。 根据文章第二段“Nyma explained where he found the lost purse and said he decided to drive straight to her house, so she wouldn’t have to experience an extra moment of panic.(Nyma解释了他是在哪里找到丢失的钱包的,并说他决定直接开车到她家去,这样她就不必再经历一丝恐慌。)”和文章第三段“Georgia was moved to tears and kept offering to send Nyma money for his good deed, but he refused. He simply asked her to pay it forward, and explained that it was no trouble for him though Georgia knew he needed to drive hours to her house.(Georgia感动得流下了眼泪,并一直提出要给Nyma钱以感谢他的善举,但他拒绝了。他只是让她将这份善良传递下去,并解释说这对他来说没什么麻烦,尽管Georgia知道他需要开车数小时才能到达她家。)”可知,Nyma不辞辛劳地开车数小时将捡到的钱包归还给Georgia,并且在Georgia要给他钱时他拒绝了,只是让她将这份善良传递下去,这说明Nyma是一个诚实且体贴的人。故选C。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第三段中“He simply asked her to pay it forward.(他只是让她将这份善良传递下去。)” 故选A。 通读全文,尤其是第二段“Nyma explained where he found the lost purse and said he decided to drive straight to her house, so she wouldn’t have to experience an extra moment of panic.(尼玛解释了他在哪里找到丢失的钱包,并说他决定直接开车去她家,这样她就不用再经历额外的恐慌了)”可知,文章主要讲述了消防员Nyma不辞辛劳地开车数小时将捡到的钱包归还给失主Georgia的感人故事,所以选项D“一名消防员开车数小时去还一个钱包”能够概括文章主旨,是本文最好的标题。故选D。 C A new study provides evidence that Mars contains a large ocean deep beneath its surface. The finding is based on data collected by the InSight Lander, a robotic explorer operated by the American space agency NASA. InSight, which landed in 2018, was designed to capture data from within the planet’s interior. The lander ended its operations on Mars in late 2022. For the current study, researchers used seismic (地震的) data collected by InSight. The team examined the data to study Martian quake activity. InSight had recorded more than 1,300 marsquakes. The device InSight used to measure ground movements is called a seismometer(地震仪). It is extremely sensitive to the Martian environment. The seismic data suggests liquid water exists deep beneath the ground where InSight operated from. Since water is considered necessary to support life, scientists say the presence of it on Mars leaves open the possibility that some form of life might exist, or existed there in the past. Numerous studies done before have also provided evidence that liquid water could exist on Mars. Scientists have already uncovered evidence that about 3 billion years ago, the surface of Mars likely had an active system of lakes, rivers and oceans. Scientists believe that Mars has lost its surface water as its atmosphere became less thick. This likely turned the planet into the dry, dusty world it is today. They have theorized that much of the ancient water escaped out into space or remained buried under the surface. The data suggests liquid water sits between 11 and 20 kilometers down in the Martian crust. The water is likely contained in a deep layer of igneous rock beneath the Martian surface. Scientists said that the water likely moved down from the surface billions of years ago, when water is believed to have flowed freely on Mars. There is currently no way to confirm the study’s suggested existence of liquid water because it sits so far beneath the Martian surface. Such a confirmation would require large drills and other specialized equipment. 28. How did the researchers get the finding? A. By analyzing the previous research. B. By conducting an experiment on Mars. C. By referring to the data from a robotic explorer. D. By comparing the Martian surface with that of Earth. 29. Why did water disappear from the surface of Mars according to the scientists? A. Its structure changed. B. Its atmosphere thinned. C. Its temperature rose. D. Its surface broke into pieces. 30. What’s the author’s attitude towards the new discovery? A. Objective. B. Tolerant. C. Unclear. D. Uncaring. 31. What’s the text mainly about? A. There are frequent quakes on Mars just like on Earth. B. Scientists have been searching for signs of life on Mars. C. New study suggests Mars has a large underground ocean. D. An advanced device for exploring Mars has ended its mission. C 29. B 30. A 31. 根据第一段中“A new study provides evidence that Mars contains a large ocean deep beneath its surface. The finding is based on data collected by the InSight Lander, a robotic explorer operated by the American space agency NASA. InSight, which landed in 2018, was designed to capture data from within the planet’s interior.(一项新研究提供了证据,证明火星表面深处有一个巨大的海洋。这一发现是基于由美国宇航局操作的机器人探测器“洞察号”收集的数据,洞察号于2018年着陆,旨在捕捉火星内部的数据)”可知,这项发现是研究人员依据一个在火星登陆作业的一个机器探测器收集到的数据而得出结论的。故选C项。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第六段中“Scientists believe that Mars has lost its surface water as its atmosphere became less thick. This likely turned the planet into the dry, dusty world it is today.(科学家们认为,火星失去了地表水,因为它的大气层变得不那么厚了)”可知,依据科研人员的说法,火星的地表水消失是因为它的大气层变薄造成的。 根据最后一段“There is currently no way to confirm the study’s suggested existence of liquid water because it sits so far beneath the Martian surface. Such a confirmation would require large drills and other specialized equipment.(目前还没有办法证实该研究提出的液态水的存在,因为它位于火星表面以下很远的地方。这样的确认将需要大型钻机和其他专业设备)”可知,作者对此科学发现的态度是客观的。故选A项。 D This past week, Sotheby’s announced the auction in New York of Thomas Taylor’s original watercolor illustration for the first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Published by Bloomsbury in 1997, the title kicked off the famous seven-book series. In a statement shared with NPR, the auction house said the artwork is expected to sell for 400,000 to 600,000 — a record estimate for any Harry Potter-related material ever offered at auction. Taylor’ s illustration, which describes the boy with his trademark round glasses and scar boarding the train to Hogwarts from King’s Cross Station’ s platform 9¾, was first offered at auction at Sotheby’s in London in 2001, according to the statement. At that point, there were only four published Harry Potter books, yet Pottermania was already taking hold: the artwork sold for a then-record-breaking £85,750. Sotheby’s says it expects the return of the artwork to the auction to do better this time around, as the love for Harry Potter-related fare has only increased over the past couple of decades with the release of the Harry Potter films. In 2021, an unsigned first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone sold for $421,000 — the current record for a Harry Potter-related item. What does Thomas Taylor himself think of his early, giant success? It was this artist’s first professional assignment. “Normally, when you start out as an illustrator, you kind of hope that your first work will be a bit forgotten and then you’ll develop and get better and better. But in this case, this first piece of work has sort of followed me in my entire career. So I look at it and I think, ‘Why did I paint that? Why didn’t I paint something more exciting?’” But he said he’ s finally made peace with it — in part because of how valuable his Harry Potter book cover painting has become at auction. 32. What does the text say about the auction in New York? A. It will cooperate with Bloomsbury. B. It will probably set a record. C. It is hosted by Taylor. D. It is about books of Harry Potter series. 33. What does the underlined part “taking hold” in paragraph 3 probably mean? A. Necessary. B. Formal. C. Familliar. D. Popular. 34. How did Taylor feel about his first illustration in the beginning? A. Confused. B. Excited. C. Proud. D. Regretful. 35. Where might this text appear? A. In a newspaper. B. In a textbook. C. In Harry Potter books. D. In a children’s picture book. B 33. D 34. D 35. 根据文章第一段“Sotheby’s announced the auction in New York of Thomas Taylor’s original watercolor illustration for the first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.(苏富比拍卖行宣布将在纽约拍卖托马斯·泰勒为《哈利·波特与魔法石》第一版绘制的原版水彩插图。)”和第二段“a record estimate for any Harry Potter-related material ever offered at auction.(这是任何哈利·波特相关物品在拍卖会上估价最高的一次。)” 根据上文“At that point, there were only four published Harry Potter books (当时《哈利·波特》只出版了四本书)”和下文“the artwork sold for a then-record-breaking £85,750. (这幅艺术品卖出了当时创纪录的85750英镑)”可知,虽然当时《哈利·波特》只出版了四本书,但“波特热”已经蔚然成风,由此可知,taking hold意为“流行的”。故选D。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“But in this case, this first piece of work has sort of followed me in my entire career. So I look at it and I think, ‘Why did I paint that? 故选A。 In today’s digital world, people are willing to seek instant satisfaction. ____36____ But that’s where being patient comes in, even if you tend to go the other way. Some people are naturally more patient than others. However, it’s kind of like dancing, and everyone can improve with practice. Be more mindful. ____37____ That’s because mindfulness helps you live in the present moment. This allows you not to get stressed out about some future happening. If you find your mind wandering about the things you have to do while you are waiting for the dentist, take deep breaths to connect to your senses and do some relaxation exercises. ____38____ There are some things that you can control and things you cannot. While the things you can’t control are the ones that are out-of-your-hands, you can work on the ones that you can control. Set goals to change the things in your life that you can control, whether it is quitting smoking or spending more time with your partner. Actively listen. If you take the time to actively listen to what people are saying to you instead of thinking ahead about your response, you can stay in the present moment. ____39____ Become more empathetic (有同理心的). It is easy to lose patience with other people, especially if they are not doing what you expect them to, like when your child refuses to get dressed for school on a day when you are already running late. But rather than just thinking how this affects you, stop and consider that these actions aren’t about causing you problems. ____40____ Maybe your child was bullied (欺凌) in school. Being more empathetic will help you on your journey to be a more patient person. A. Focus on what you can control. B. Think about why the child refuses to dress. C. This will train you to be a more patient person. D. You may ask how to make yourself more mindful. E. Some children are naturally able to call upon patience better than others. F. Practicing mindfulness in your everyday life can help you become more patient. G. That might be why people are not used to having to wait or working on something anymore. G 37. F 38. A 39. C 40. 【36题详解】 根据上文“In today’s digital world, people are willing to seek instant satisfaction.(在当今的数字世界中,人们愿意寻求即时的满足感。)”和下文“But that’s where being patient comes in, even if you tend to go the other way.(这就是耐心的作用,即使你倾向于相反的方向。)” That might be why people are not used to having to wait or working on something anymore.(这可能就是为什么人们不再习惯于等待或工作的原因。) 【37题详解】 本段主题是“Be more mindful(更加专注)”,结合下文“That’s because mindfulness helps you live in the present moment. This allows you not to get stressed out about some future happening. (这是因为正念帮助你活在当下。这让你不会对未来发生的事情感到压力。)”可知,正念可以帮助你活在当下,减少未来的压力。所以选项在说明正念和耐心的关系。选项F“Practicing mindfulness in your everyday life can help you become more patient.(在日常生活中练习正念可以帮助你变得更有耐心。)” 本段开头提到“There are some things that you can control and things you cannot.(有些事情你可以控制,有些事情你不能)”,结合下文“Set goals to change the things in your life that you can control(设定目标来改变你能控制的事情)”可知,本段主要讨论的是要关注自己能控制的事情。选项A“Focus on what you can control(关注你能控制的事情)”与段落内容紧密相关。故选A。 【39题详解】 本段讨论的是“Actively listen(积极倾听)”,结合上文“If you take the time to actively listen to what people are saying to you instead of thinking ahead about your response, you can stay in the present moment.(如果你花时间积极倾听别人对你说的话,而不是提前考虑你的反应,你就能活在当下。)” C“This will train you to be a more patient person.(这样做会训练你成为一个更有耐心的人)”与段落内容紧密相连,指出积极倾听有助于培养耐心。故选C。 【40题详解】 本段讨论的是“Become more empathetic.(变得更加有同理心)”,结合上文“It is easy to lose patience with other people, especially if they are not doing what you expect them to, like when your child refuses to get dressed for school on a day when you are already running late. But rather than just thinking how this affects you, stop and consider that these actions aren’t about causing you problems.(很容易对别人失去耐心,尤其是当他们没有按照你的期望行事时,比如,在你已经快要迟到的一天,你的孩子却拒绝穿上上学的衣服。但是,与其只是一味地想着这对你造成了什么影响,不如停下来想一想,这些行为并不是为了给你制造麻烦。)”可知,当你的孩子拒绝为你期望的事情(如上学穿衣服)时,要停下来考虑他们的行为并不是为了给你制造麻烦。选项B“Think about why the child refuses to dress.(思考孩子为什么拒绝穿衣服)”与段落内容紧密相关,建议从孩子的角度思考问题。 By nature, I’m a shy person. I once found myself at the heart of friendship breakdown in senior 2, during a seemingly ordinary music class filled with the harmonies of new melodies (乐曲). The room was filled with the soft tones of guitars and the melodious voices of my classmates as we practiced a lively folk song. My deskmate, Bob, who was often the life of the party, suddenly found himself sitting alone, surrounded by a sea of busy classmates. Feeling ignored, he got a plan to get attention and slipped Jenny’s cherished pencil case, decorated with stickers from her favorite anime (动漫), into my backpack in secret while I was absolutely absorbed in the song. As the bell rang, signaling the end of the class, Jenny sprang into action, preparing for her upcoming math class. To her disappointment, her careful search for the pencil case turned out to be empty-handed, and in the end she got more and more anxious she looked around, seeking answers. Bob, seizing the moment, approached and whispered with false sincerity, “Jenny, have you checked David’s bag? It might have gotten mixed up somehow.” Without a second thought. Jenny’ s mistrust clouded her judgment, and she marched over to my desk with determination. It seemed that she had found out the last straw (稻草). At that time, I felt innocent and wronged, but in order to prove my innocence, I decided to have Jenny check my backpack. I stood back to let Jenny search my backpack thoroughly. My heart sank when the pencil case emerged, its anime stickers shining brightly in the light. Jenny’s eyes widened in disbelief, and her voice trembled with anger as she accused me. “David, I never believed that you would do such a thing. You seem so honest, but you’re nothing but a thief!” I tried my best to explain my innocence to Jenny. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Seeing my great trouble, Bob felt guilty. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】I tried my best to explain my innocence to Jenny. But she was in no mood to listen to my explanation because she was in great anger. “We’re done, David. I won’t trust you anymore. Don’t speak to me, and I won’t speak to you.” With that, she went away angrily, leaving me alone. I felt a mix of shock, hurt and confusion. Days turned into a cycle of isolation and self-doubt. I found myself avoiding eye contact with others, afraid of the whispers and stares that seemed to follow me wherever I went. Seeing my great trouble, Bob felt guilty. One day he approached me and told me the truth, his eyes filled with sincerity. “David, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for it to go this far. I would go to Jenny to admit my fault.” When Jenny listened in silence, her expression softened as the truth revealed itself. “David, I’m so sorry. I should have listened to you.” Her words were a comfort to my wounded soul, and tears of relief welled up at the corners of my eyes. From that day on, we worked to rebuild our friendship, making it stronger and more stable than before. 词汇激活 行为类 信任:trust/have faith in 离开:go away/depart from 充满:be filled with/be full of 情绪类 生气地:angrily/furiously 害怕的:afraid/scary 【点睛】[高分句型1] I found myself avoiding eye contact with others, afraid of the whispers and stares that seemed to follow me wherever I went.(运用了that引导定语从句) [高分句型2] From that day on, we worked to rebuild our friendship, making it stronger and more stable than before.(运用了现在分词作状语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 海南省2024—2025学年高三学业水平诊断(一) 英 语 考生注意: 1. How much is the shirt? A. She did nothing to recover it. B. D This past week, Sotheby’s announced the auction in New York of Thomas Taylor’s original watercolor illustration for the first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. A Necessary. B. Formal. C. Familliar. D. Popular. 34. How did Taylor feel about his first illustration in the beginning? A. Confused. B. Excited. C. Proud. D. Regretful. 35. Where might this text appear? A. In a newspaper. B. In a textbook. C. In Harry Potter books. D. In a children’s picture book. In today’s digital world, people are willing to seek instant satisfaction. ____36____ But that’s where being patient comes in, even if you tend to go the other way. As the bell rang signaling the end of the class, Jenny sprang into action, preparing for her upcoming math class. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$null
