In 2015, car designer and artist Brian Peterson moved to Santa Ana, California. Outside his apartment, he often heard a homeless man shouting on the street corner. Brian would pass by the man on his way to work, but they never spoke. However, one day, he decided to talk to the poor man.
Brian learned that the man’s name was Matthew. He came to California to follow his dream of becoming a musician. However, he soon fell on hard times and ended up living on the street for over ten years. Brian found the beauty in Matthew’s story, face, and dreams. He asked Matthew if it would be okay for him to paint (画) his portrait (肖像), and Matthew agreed.
Brian knew that art could do something pretty big, so he founded his project “Faces of Santa Ana” with the hope of encouraging more artists to help the homeless.
