B Whenever I think of Ms. Anita Moore, I always smile and feel lucky to have her as my teacher. All of her students knew she loved being a teacher. Her classroom was always a sale place where we were encouraged to share, think, and express ourselves. One of the classes that I remember is a reading class when Ms. Moore read a story aloud and started to cry. A person in the story reminded her of her grandmother. She shared with us her relationship with her grandmother, which was a great way to help us understand the story she read to us. Ms. Moore tried her best to make a connection with each student in her classroom. She knew what we liked and used that information to bring our interests into the classroom. That is one of the reasons why Ms. Moore will always be my favorite teacher. She brought various types of books to our classroom and allowed us to take them home. It was she that helped my love for reading grow. Ms. Moore not only dealt with classroom instruction. She decided that our school should have a choir (合唱团) and that all of her students should audition (试演). Without her, I would never have taken part in this type of after- school activity. Once it was time for the yearly 5th grade weekend camping trip, my parents refused to let me attend. Ms. Moore came to my home to try to persuade (说服) them. Although I was still not allowed to go, it was amazing to me that a teacher would visit my home to help me be part of a school tradition with my classmates. Ms. Moore was a wonderful example of a loving teacher. From her, I’ve learned to make connections with students and look for ways to help them learn and feel successful. 4. Why did Ms. Moore cry in the reading class? A. The story was too sad. B. She was moved by the students. C. Her grandmother was in the story. D. She was reminded of her grandmother. 5. What can we learn about Ms. Moore from paragraph 3? A. She was good at writing books. B. She excited the writer’s love for reading. C. She gave away many books to poor students. D. She was the favorite teacher of the whole class. 6. Which of the following best describes Ms. Moore? A. Curious and strict. B. Humorous and confident. C Intelligent and caring. D. Quiet and knowledgeable. 7. Why does the author write this text? A. To share her childhood. B. To introduce her school. C. To remember her teacher. D. To make social connection. C Harvesting fruit is a very precise operation. The fruit must be picked when it is perfectly ripe (成熟的). But with pickers in short supply in recent years, growers needed to quickly find another way to harvest their crops. Tevel Aerobotics Technologies came to help farmers with the Flying Autonomous Robots(FARs)that can help pick fruit. “Not finding enough fruit pickers is every farmer’s biggest concern,” Yaniv Maor, Tevel’s founder and CEO said. Ask any farmer, anywhere in the world and they’ll tell you they don’t have the people. Food production is increasing, but labor availability (劳动力可用性) is decreasing. If there are not enough pickers, fruit will go bad on the trees. The flying robots will work day and night in almost any weather, without taking a break, to pick as much ripe fruit as possible. Maor set up Tevel in 2017 and developed the technology after seeing young people pick fruit and get tired after a few hours. He realized that there had to be a better way, so he began developing the software and artificial intelligence (AI) that are needed for the smart robot pickers. “We have to teach the robots about the structure of each fruit, how to get close to the fruit and how to turn it and pick it from the tree,” Maor said. The flying robots circle round trees and pick only the ripe ones with a twist (扭动) of their arms. The robots are fitted with cameras that use AI to assess the size and color of the fruit so that only the ripe ones are picked. The cameras also ensure that the robots’ paths are not blocked. The robots are picking Asian pears in Israel. In 2022, the FARs were used in pilot programs in Italy to pick peaches and other fruits, as well as in the US. They don’t substitute labor. Instead, they are a solution for the fewer human pickers. In the future fewer people will work in picking and more will work in managing the robots, analyzing the data and making decisions. 8. Why are the FARs developed? A. To meet the shortage of fruit pickers. B. To improve the AI for smart robots. C. To help farmers keep the fruit. D. To relieve the tiredness of farmers. 9. What can we know from paragraphs 2 and 3? A. The robots can help produce more fruit. B. Maor developed the robots just for fun. C. The robots can work without stop in bad weather. D. Farmers pay more attention to the food quality. 10. What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about? A. How the robots work. B. What the robots are made up of. C. Why the robots are useful. D. Where the robots are used. 11. What does the underlined word “substitute” in the last paragraph mean? A. Inspire. B. Support. C. Worry. D. Replace. D If you expect to work in the future in the travel industry, you should begin learning Chinese. That’s because Chinese people spent nearly $258 billion in total on international travel last year. That’s more than twice the combined amount spent on international travel by people from the United States and Germany, the next two biggest-spending nations. The Chinese are relative (相对的) newcomers when it comes to traveling beyond their nation’s borders and only a small percentage of them travel outside of China each year. Given the size of that nation’s population, even that small percentage represents well over 100 million Chinese travelers to foreign destinations. Yet Chinese citizens flew, on average, just 65 miles last year vs. the 227 miles flown on average by US residents (居民), the 285 miles flown on average by Germans, the 271 miles flown on average by those from the United Kingdom, and the 632 miles flown by the average Canadian last year. China’s high total spending on international travel and its low average number of miles flown on international travel may show that while only a small percentage of China’s residents actually travel outside their homeland, those who do spend a lot of money don’t go that far. But there are reasons for China’s low average of miles travel on international trips. A small percentage of Chinese now have enough money to travel internationally, while the number of people who do travel outside of China is growing fast every year. Besides, a large percentage of Chinese people traveling abroad stay close to home. However, as more and more Chinese gain the financial ability to travel internationally and as Chinese become more and more interested in visiting destinations farther and farther away from home, their spending on international travel and the average distances flown will both rise rapidly. 12. Why is it important to learn Chinese for the future work in travel industry? A. Because being good at Chinese is a must for future work. B. Because Chinese is most commonly used in travel industry. C. Because travel industry requires employees to learn Chinese. D. Because China will probably be a big-spending nation in international travel. 13. What can we infer from Paragraph 2? A. There is indeed great potential in Chinese travel market. B. People from different countries have different preferred destinations. C. Chinese people are more willing to travel abroad compared with Canadians. D. People going on a journey around the world hate taking international planes. 14. In what countries may many Chinese people choose to travel at present? A. North America. B. Developing countries. C. Southeast Asia. D. European countries. 15. Which of the following words can best describe the future of Chinese people’s traveling abroad? A. Hopeless. B. Bright. C. Confusing. D. Unclear. If you will take a vacation with your family or friends, renting a yacht (游艇) in Cabo is one of the choices you need to consider. However, there was one class Ella worried about more than any other class-art. She didn’t know why she just wasn’t good at drawing, painting, or cutting. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t seem to master the skills. Ms. Amanda, the art teacher, stood at the front of the room. “Class, next Friday our school is going to hold an art competition,” she announced. Ms. Amanda was a great teacher, and Ella liked her a lot. But this announcement made Ella nervous. “Everyone in the school will have to create a piece of artwork to show in the library. You can use the different types of artwork we have been studying.” Ms. Amanda was quite excited when she spoke while Ella found herself sinking lower in her chair. Ella had the whole weekend to work on her project, but she could not think of anything to do. As Friday drew near, Ella felt frightened. She knew she couldn’t draw or paint well enough to make something that would stand out. So after school Ella asked Ms. Amanda if she could write an art paper instead of doing an art project. “I understand this project scared you, Ella,” Ms. Amanda said. “Just remember, you can create any kind of art you want.” Ms. Amanda smiled at her: “Art is a person’s way of expressing his or her feelings. It isn’t always painting, drawing, or cutting. I know you will think of something very creative, and I can’t wait to see it.” Ella finally decided to face her fears and give it a try. When Ella arrived home, she took out a piece of paper and a pencil. She remembered Ms. Amanda’s words. “Art is a person’s way of expressing his or her feelings.” Ella wrote the word “terrified” on her paper. She crumpled (揉皱) the paper and threw it to the side of her desk. Then Ella stared at the crumpled ball. Suddenly an idea struck her. Why not create something out of crumpled paper? ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On Friday, Ella carefully carried her project into the library. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1--5ACCBB 6—10CBCBA 11—15CAABA 16--20BCACA 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2024—2025学年度上学期期中考试 高一英语B 时间:120分钟 满分:150分 范围:必修一 1—3单元 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。 1.What does the man like reading the most? C. Intelligent and caring. D. Quiet and knowledgeable. 7. Why does the author write this text? A. To share her childhood. B. To introduce her school. C. To remember her teacher. D. To make social connection. 4. D 5. B 6. C 7. A. Inspire. B. Support. C. Worry. D. Replace. A 9. C 10. A 11. 根据第一段“But with pickers in short supply in recent years, growers needed to quickly find another way to harvest their crops.(但由于近年来采摘机供不应求,种植者需要迅速找到另一种收割作物的方法)”可知,开发飞行机器人是为了满足采摘人员采摘水果的短缺。故选A项。 根据第二段“The flying robots will work day and night in almost any weather, without taking a break, to pick as much ripe fruit as possible.(这些飞行机器人将在几乎任何天气下不分昼夜地工作,不间断地采摘尽可能多的成熟水果)”可知,飞行机器人几乎可以在任何天气下不间断地工作。 根据第四段“The flying robots circle round trees and pick only the ripe ones with a twist (扭动) of their arms. The robots are fitted with cameras that use AI to assess the size and color of the fruit so that only the ripe ones are picked. The cameras also ensure that the robots’ paths are not blocked.(飞行机器人绕着树转,用手臂一扭,只摘成熟的树。这些机器人配备了摄像头,利用人工智能来评估水果的大小和颜色,以便只采摘成熟的水果。摄像头还可以确保机器人的路径不被阻塞)”可知,第四段主要讲了机器人是如何工作的。故选A项。 D If you expect to work in the future in the travel industry, you should begin learning Chinese. A. Hopeless. B. Bright. C. Confusing. D. Unclear. D 13. A 14. C 15. 根据第一段“If you expect to work in the future in the travel industry, you should begin learning Chinese. Given the size of that nation’s population, even that small percentage represents well over 100 million Chinese travelers to foreign destinations. (这是因为去年中国人在国际旅游上总共花费了近2580亿美元。这是美国和德国人在国际旅行上花费总和的两倍多,这两个国家是接下来两个最大的消费国家。在出国旅游方面,中国人相对来说是新手,每年只有一小部分人出国旅游。考虑到中国的人口规模,即使是这个很小的比例也代表着远超过1亿的中国出境游客。)”可知,从第2段我们能推断出中国旅游市场确实有很大的潜力。故选A。 根据第四段中的“Besides, a large percentage of Chinese people traveling abroad stay close to home. (此外,很大一部分出国旅游的中国人呆在离家近的地方)”可知,出国旅行的中国人中有很大一部分人去的目的地离中国较近。即出国旅行的许多中国人可能会选择离中国较近的地方。四个选项中东南亚离中国最近。故选C。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“However, as more and more Chinese gain the financial ability to travel internationally and as Chinese become more and more interested in visiting destinations farther and farther away from home, their spending on international travel and the average distances flown will both rise rapidly. (然而,随着越来越多的中国人有经济能力出国旅游,随着中国人越来越有兴趣去离家乡越来越远的地方旅游,他们在国际旅行上的支出和平均飞行距离都将迅速上升。)”可知,中国人出国旅游的市场前景是光明的。故选B。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 If you will take a vacation with your family or friends, renting a yacht (游艇) in Cabo is one of the choices you need to consider. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Why not create something out of crumpled paper? The crumpled paper reminded her of a snowball. Ella didn’t have to draw or paint or even cut. Ella made many paper balls, glued them all together, and placed them on a big piece of hard paper to form a snowman. The snowman wore a hat made of black paper and a scarf made of red paper. Her finished project was really wonderful. On Friday, Ella carefully carried her project into the library. She noticed the smile and the nods from teachers and other students as she put her work on a table. Ms. Amanda walked over to Ella. “You have created a creative piece of artwork. I am so proud of you!” Ms. Amanda said. Ella was proud of herself too. Her pride grew when Ms. Amanda placed a first-place star on her artwork. “Maybe I am a good artist after all,” Ella thought. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①让某人想起:remind sb. of sth./make sb. think of ②完成:finish/complete ③注意:notice/spot 情绪类 ①微笑:smile/beam ②以……为骄傲:take pride in/be proud of 【点睛】[高分句型1] The snowman wore a hat made of black paper and a scarf made of red paper.(made of为过去分词短语作后置定语) [高分句型2] She noticed the smile and the nods from teachers and other students as she put her work on a table.(as引导时间状语从句) 1--5ACCBB 6—10CBCBA 11—15CAABA 16--20BCACA 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
