Have you heard of the saying "Don't judge (评价) a book by its cover"? Well, in Chinese, we
often say"Don't judge people by their looks".
八年级英语第5页,共6页
Imagine you meet someone new at school. They might look different from you in hair, clothes or
looks. It's important not to make any judgments about them just because of how they look.
Sometimes, people make a mistake by judging others by their looks. They might think someone
is mean or unfriendly just because they have a serious face or wear unusual clothes. But sometimes
seeing is not believing!
In reality, people are like books with a great many pages. In order to understand them, we need to
"read many pages". That means talking with them, learning about their interests and ideas, and
spending time with them. Think about your best friends. When you met them for the first time, you
might not know they would be your friends. But as you spent time together, you realized how amazing
they were.
Don't judge people by their looks, and open our heart to the people around us. If we do so, we'll
start to understand and treasure the differences between us, like different cultures, different
backgrounds, and different ways of thinking.
So, let's keep an open mind and be nice to everyone we meet, no matter how they look. When we
do so, we make a big difference to the world, and we make a world where everyone feels important
and accepted. After all, the most amazing things are hidden. They are in each one of us!
