Lloyd Black, who became a member at Anytime Fitness in Semmes, Alabama, last year at age 90, was named as the club’s Member of the Month for January.
Ashley Seaman, the gym’s general manager, congratulated Black in a Facebook post that went viral (走红). “We have seen nothing but inspiration from him since he started,” Seaman wrote in the post along with a photo of Black wearing his overalls (工装裤). “He says he is 91 years young and talks about how much his workout routine has helped him in his daily routine. Seeing someone like him encourages others to keep it up and include fitness in their life. Seeing him in the gym three times a week working out in his overalls brightens our day.”
Black said he started working out to keep up with his lifestyle. “I had reached the point where I could no longer do simple housework, so I started going to the gym and it has really helped.” said Black. “I’m also inspired by my dad who never gave up.”
Black’s gym routine includes the running machine, upper body strength training and the leg press. As a result of his work at the gym, Black finds it easier to cut the grass at his house and work in his woodworking shop. He experiences less daily discomfort and moves more easily.
According to Seaman, Black has become a valued member of the gym through his devotion to improving his personal fitness, his helpfulness and his warmth toward other members.

The announcement that Indhu Rubasingham is to be the artist director of the Royal National Theatre (NT) in 2025 has been met with cheers, within the industry and without.
Workmates at the Kiln theatre in Brent, where Rubasingham has been director since 2012, describe her as inspiring, risk-taking and tough. Rufus Norris has called her “an exceptional artist who I respect and admire hugely”.
Rubasingham may be the NT’s female artistic director and the first person of colour in the role, but her own achievements contribute to her position. From a theatre with just 292 seats, she has commissioned (委托) and created productions of international quality. There has been Florian Zeller’s trilogy The father, The Mother and the Son and her production of Zadie Smith’s The Wife of Willesden. A recent success is Ryan Calais Cameron’s civil rights story Retrograde.
Rubasingham is not new to National Theatre: as Norris says, “it’s a place she knows well, having directed successfully in each of the three theatres”. However, it’s a big leap from the 292 seats of the Kiln to the challenges of NT, with 2,450 seats, plus outreach, educational and digital programs. All this has to be done against the worst financial (金融的) situations since the NT was founded in 1963.Today, any director of a national arts organization in the UK faces a hard time, with the financial black hole left by the pandemic (疫情).
Rubasingham, however, is all about the artists: the play-writers and actors and many other creative talents who make her theatre what it is. That’s the special talent she brings to this position. She herself has described it as “the best job in the world”.
5.What can we learn about Rubasingham from the first two paragraphs?
A.She is envied by Rufus Norris.
B.She is welcomed to take the position.
C.She doesn’t get along with workmates.
D.She has moved from the Kiln to the NT.
6.Why are Rubasingham’s productions listed in Paragraph 3?
A.To praise her success in directing.
B.To promote her works internationally.
C.To introduce her understanding of art.
D.To show her relationship with play-writers.
7.What challenges will Rubasingham face in her new position?
A.The pandemic. B.Little experience.
C.Lack of money. D.Technological problems.
8.Which of the following best describes Rubasingham?
A.Expert and creative. B.Flexible and generous.
C.Energetic and efficient. D.Well-meaning and well-rounded.
【答案】5.B 6.A 7.C 8.A

(23-24高一上·江苏盐城·期末)Tens of thousands of honeybees in Spain’s Canary Islands can now add “survived a volcano (火山)” to their wish list.
A report on Saturday told the story of five hives (蜂箱) of honeybees that were left unattended after the eruption (爆发) of the Cumbre Vieja volcano in La Palma, which happened on September 19, for about 50 days (their beekeeper had been forced to leave the area). When the beekeeper returned, he found the hives covered in volcanic ash (灰).
Inside the hives, however, the situation was completely different. To the beekeeper’s surprise, he found tens of thousands of live honeybees, who had managed to carry on despite the heat and harmful gases released by the volcano. They may have also gotten lucky because they were covered with light ash with small holes, which allowed air to pass through the hives.
Not all honeybees on La Palma were so lucky, though. Spanish news service EFE reported that a group of hives closest to the Cumbre Vieja had been covered completely by lava, hot volcano matter, which killed them.
Antonio Quesada, a spokesperson for the GranCanaria Beekeepers Association, said that a key part of the bees’ survival was propolis (蜂胶). Produced by bees, propolis is a sticky thing made from resins (树脂) the insects collect from plants. Often called “bee glue,” propolis is often used to smooth surfaces or cover the space in hives.
Quesada said the La Palma bees managed to seal (密封) themselves inside their hives to protect themselves from the volcanic gases, which can be harmful to people, animals, plants, and buildings. The bees also thought about food and ate from the honey stores they had inside their hives.
“It’s unbelievable how such a tiny animal that has been around for hundreds of thousands of years can have that ability to survive,” Quesada said.
That’s not all they did, though. Although they sealed themselves in their hives, they made sure to leave a very small pathway to the outside so they could get out one day.
9.What might the underlined word “unattended” in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Dead. B.Lucky. C.Alone. D.Homeless.
10.What surprised the beekeeper?
A.His beehives were covered with volcanic ash.
B.His bees remained alive under the volcanic ash.
C.His bees warned him of the eruption of the volcano.
D.His beehives remained unchanged in the volcanic lava.
11.What does Quesada think about the five hives of bees?
A.They’re fearful. B.They’re unlucky. C.They’re honest. D.They’re admirable.
12.What is the best title for the text?
A.Bees were rescued timely. B.Bees survived a volcano.
C.Bees benefited from propolis. D.A huge volcano happened.
根据第二段“their beekeeper had been forced to leave the area(养蜂人被迫离开该地区)”可知,养蜂人离开了,所以那些蜜蜂没人管,划线词unattended的意思是“无人看管的”,和Alone意思相近。故选C。
根据第三段“To the beekeeper’s surprise, he found tens of thousands of live honeybees, who had managed to carry on despite the heat and harmful gases released by the volcano.(令养蜂人惊讶的是,他发现了成千上万只活蜜蜂,尽管火山释放出热量和有害气体,它们还是设法生存了下来。)”
根据倒数第三段“Quesada said the La Palma bees managed to seal (密封) themselves inside their hives to protect themselves from the volcanic gases, which can be harmful to people, animals, plants, and buildings.(Quesada说,La Palma蜜蜂设法将自己封闭在蜂巢里,以保护自己免受火山气体的伤害,火山气体可能对人类、动物、植物和建筑物有害。)”和倒数第二段““It’s unbelievable how such a tiny animal that has been around for hundreds of thousands of years can have that ability to survive,” Quesada said.(Quesada说:“令人难以置信的是,这样一种已经存在了数十万年的小动物竟然有这种生存能力。”)”
通读全文,尤其是第三段“To the beekeeper’s surprise, he found tens of thousands of live honeybees, who had managed to carry on despite the heat and harmful gases released by the volcano.(令养蜂人惊讶的是,他发现了成千上万只活蜜蜂,尽管火山释放出热量和有害气体,它们还是设法生存了下来。)”

Chinese state media has praised a viral video series telling the story of a jade teapot coming to life and escaping from the British Museum to make its way back home.
The set of three short episodes, entitled Escape from the British Museum, shows the teapot turning into a young woman in a green dress, who then asks a London-based Chinese journalist to help her reunite with her family.
The plot line taps into growing Chinese criticism (批评) of the British Museum after reports last month that more than 1, 500 priceless objects were missing, stolen or damaged.
In August the state media Global Times called for the return of Chinese artefacts from the museum “free of charge”. “The huge loophole (漏洞) in the management and safety of cultural objects in the British Museum have led to the falling of a long-standing and widely spread claim that ‘foreign cultural objects are better protected in the British Museum’,” it said. It strongly supported the video series for touching on a “powerful message” about the importance of cultural heritage and reflecting “Chinese people’s eagerness for the return of the Chinese cultural relics”.
State broadcaster CCTV also gave the short films a glowing review saying: “We are very pleased to see Chinese young people are passionate about history and tradition. We are also looking forward to the early return of Chinese artefacts that have been displaced overseas.”
The museum incident made headlines around the world and revived earlier demands by the Chinese media to restore the country’s relics.
The new three-part show has set off a wave of nationalism among viewers, with many praising the creative plot that reduced them to tears by showing how the teapot experienced the happiness of returning to China to see pandas and watch a flag-raising ceremony on Tiananmen Square. “May all the cultural relics abroad return home as soon as possible!” said one of tens of thousands of people who commented on social media sites.
13.What can be learned about Escape from the British Museum?
A.It is filmed by the state media.
B.It consists of three short episodes.
C.It is supported by the British Museum.
D.It shows how a green princess makes her way home.
14.What do the underlined words “taps into” mean in the third paragraph?
A.Goes against. B.Agrees with. C.Makes use of. D.Brings about.
15.What was the attitude of Global Times toward the video series?
A.Disapproving. B.Objective. C.Tolerant. D.Supportive.
16.What is the text mainly about?
A.The reputation of Chinese artefacts worldwide.
B.The irresponsibility of the British Museum missing a teapot.
C.The influence of Chinese state media on the global viewers.
D.The popularity of the series about the return of Chinese relics.
根据第二段“The set of three short episodes, entitled Escape from the British Museum, shows the teapot turning into a young woman in a green dress, who then asks a London-based Chinese journalist to help her reunite with her family.”(这部名为《逃离大英博物馆》(Escape from The British Museum)的短片共三集,讲述了茶壶变成了一位身穿绿色连衣裙的年轻女子,然后她请求一位驻伦敦的中国记者帮助她与家人团聚。)
根据划线单词句中“…after reports last month that more than 1, 500 priceless objects were missing, stolen or damaged.”(上个月有报道称,有1500多件无价之宝丢失、被盗或损坏。)
根据第四段中“It strongly supported the video series for touching on a “powerful message” about the importance of cultural heritage and reflecting “Chinese people’s eagerness for the return of the Chinese cultural relics”.”(它强烈支持该系列视频,因为它触及了文化遗产重要性的“有力信息”,反映了“中国人民对中国文物回归的渴望”。)
根据文章大意以及第一段“Chinese state media has praised a viral video series telling the story of a jade teapot coming to life and escaping from the British Museum to make its way back home.”(中国官方媒体赞扬了一个广为传播的视频系列,该视频讲述了一个玉器茶壶复活并从大英博物馆逃回家的故事。)和最后一段“The new three-part show has set off a wave of nationalism among viewers, with many praising the creative plot that reduced them to tears by showing how the teapot experienced the happiness of returning to China to see pandas and watch a flag-raising ceremony on Tiananmen Square. “May all the cultural relics abroad return home as soon as possible! ” said one of tens of thousands of people who commented on social media sites.”(这部由三集组成的新剧在观众中掀起了一股民族主义浪潮,许多人称赞其富有创意的情节,通过展示茶壶如何经历回到中国看熊猫和观看天安门广场升旗仪式的快乐,让他们流下了眼泪。“愿国外的文物早日归国!”社交媒体网站上成千上万的人评论道。)可知,文章主要讲的是关于中国文物回归的系列节目很受欢迎。故选D项。

(23-24高一上·浙江杭州·期末)Thousands of lives have been saved by giving blood-thinning drugs to people with a heart condition that leaves them at risk of a stroke(中风), according to the head of the NHS.
Since January 2022 about 460,000 people in England who suffer from atrial fibrillation(AF)- a dangerously irregular heart rate-have begun taking one of four anticoagulant(抗凝血剂) drugs that are proved to reduce stroke risk. Speedy introduction of the drugs has kept 4,000 people alive who would otherwise have died and prevented about 17,000 strokes, according to Amanda Pritchard. Strokes kill about 27,000 people a year in England and lead to about 120,000 being taken to hospital.
A drive to encourage take-up of the drugs means 90% of the 1.5 million people in England with AF are using them. That should result in fewer strokes, which are a leading cause of death and disability, given that AF causes about one in five strokes.
“The rapid introduction of these drugs is a big step forward in providing the best possible care for patients with heart disease”, Pritchard, the leader of NHS(National Health Service) England, will say in a speech today at the King’s Fund health experts’ yearly conference.
The drugs, called direct oral anticoagulants, help stop blood from clotting(凝血), therefore reducing the risk of a clot developing and causing a stroke. In 2021 the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence recommended that doctors use four anticoagulant drugs.
Dr Maeva May, the Stroke Association’s director, thought the widespread use of the drugs as “fantastic news”, because AF accounts for one in five strokes and strokes in people with AF are more likely to result in death or serious disability.
NHS England has used its spending power to cut deals with the makers of the four drugs, which has made them much more widely available. The British Heart Foundation praised the NHS’s “great progress towards its goal of reducing stroke deaths”.
17.What is the purpose of listing numbers in paragraph 2?
A.To attract the readers’ attention to strokes.
B.To introduce the specific information about AF.
C.To show the effects of four anticoagulant drugs.
D.To summarize the steps towards reducing deaths.
18.What is the main function of anticoagulant drugs?
A.To identify signs of strokes. B.To reduce blood pressure.
C.To keep heart beating. D.To prevent blood clotting.
19.What can be inferred about NHS England and drug makers from the text?
A.They have reached some agreements. B.They have provided free treatment.
C.They have established disease funds. D.They have reminded of stroke deaths.
20.Which is the best title for the text?
A.Recognising Signs of A Heart Attack B.A Breakthrough in Stroke Prevention
C.Exploring Kinds of Anticoagulant Drugs D.NHS England’s Life-Saving Conference
【答案】17.C 18.D 19.A 20.B
根据第二段“Since January 2022 about 460,000 people in England who suffer from atrial fibrillation(AF)- a dangerously irregular heart rate-have begun taking one of four anticoagulant(抗凝血剂) drugs that are proved to reduce stroke risk. Speedy introduction of the drugs has kept 4,000 people alive who would otherwise have died and prevented about 17,000 strokes, according to Amanda Pritchard. Strokes kill about 27,000 people a year in England and lead to about 120,000 being taken to hospital. (自2022年1月以来,英国约有46万患有心房颤动(AF)的人开始服用四种抗凝药物中的一种,这些药物已被证明可以降低中风风险。据Amanda Pritchard称,这些药物的迅速引入使4000人得以存活,否则他们将死亡,并预防了约17000例中风。在英格兰,中风每年造成约2.7万人死亡,约12万人被送往医院。)”可知,这一段利用数字来说明四种抗凝血药物对心房颤动病人的效果。故选C。
18.细节理解题。根据第五段“The drugs, called direct oral anticoagulants, help stop blood from clotting(凝血), therefore reducing the risk of a clot developing and causing a stroke. (这些药物被称为直接口服抗凝血剂,有助于阻止血液凝固,从而降低血栓形成和导致中风的风险。)”可知,抗凝血药物的主要作用是防止血液凝结。故选D。
19.细节理解题。根据最后一段“NHS England has used its spending power to cut deals with the makers of the four drugs (英国国家医疗服务体系(NHS England)利用其支出能力与这四种药物的制造商达成了协议)”可知,英国国家医疗服务体系和制药商他们已经达成了一些协议。故选A。
根据第一段“Thousands of lives have been saved by giving blood-thinning drugs to people with a heart condition that leaves them at risk of a stroke(中风), according to the head of the NHS. (英国国家医疗服务体系(NHS)负责人表示,通过给患有心脏病的人服用血液稀释药物,数千人的生命得以挽救,这些心脏病使他们有中风的风险。)”和最后一段“NHS England has used its spending power to cut deals with the makers of the four drugs, which has made them much more widely available. The British Heart Foundation praised the NHS’s “great progress towards its goal of reducing stroke deaths”.

In the time before air-conditioning, southern China’s sky wells played a key role in keeping people’s homes cool. Could they do it again today?
A skywell, or “tian jing”, is atypical characteristic of traditional homes in southern and eastern China. Different from a northern Chinese courtyard, or “yuan zi”, a skywell is smaller and less open to the outdoor environment. Its size and design differ from place to place.
Skywells were designed to cool buildings at a time well before air-conditioning existed. When wind blows above a skywell house, it can enter the indoor space through the opening. Because outdoor air is often cooler than indoor air, the incoming wind travels down the walls to the lower stories and create airflows by replacing warmer indoor air, which rises and leaves through the opening.
Although skywell buildings have existed in China for hundreds of years, in recent times they have often been forgotten by people who prefer modern buildings. Over the past two decades, however, skywell buildings have been making a comeback.
Yu Youhong, 55, has spent more than 30 years restoring (修复) skywell homes in Wuyuan county of Jiangxi province, apart of the old Huizhou. One of the skywell homes restored by Yu is in the village of Yan, in Wuyuan county. The deserted 300-year-old house was bought by Edward Gawne, a former marketing director from the UK, and his Chinese wife, Liao Minx in, in 2015. The couple turned the three-storey house into a 14-room hotel with the help of Yu. They kept the spaces surrounding the sky wells in their original state: open and with natural airflow. Gawne says that even without air conditioning the skywell areas are very comfortable in summer.
Yu says he expects sky wells to be more and more popular among younger generations especially as sustainability (可持续性) becomes an important element for new buildings.
25.What do we know about the sky wells?

(23-24高一上·广东深圳·期末)The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), China’s leading aircraft maker, created the country’s first fully solar-powered drone (无人机). The large drone, Qimingxing 50, took off at 5:50 pm on September 3rd, 2022, from an airport in Yulin of Shaanxi Province and stayed in the air for 26 minutes before landing on the same runway. AVIC said that all systems of the unmanned plane functioned well on its first flight.
Powered by six electric motors with solar batteries, the drone is designed to conduct long-time operations in near space. Near space is that part of Earth’s atmosphere at altitudes of 20 to 100 kilometers. It is above the top altitudes of commercial airliners but below orbiting satellites.
Qimingxing 50, also called “quasi-satellite”, features high operational efficiency and eco-friendliness and will be tasked with high-altitude reconnaissance (侦察), forestry fire monitoring, atmospheric environmental inspection, aerial mapping, communication signal relay and other operations.
“Thanks to its capability to conduct very long endurance flights in near space, the drone can essentially become a substitute for satellites,” a Chinese aerospace expert said. Satellite services are not always available due to the limited number of satellites and relatively fixed schedules of overhead passes. In time-sensitive missions, near-space drones can offset these disadvantages, the expert said, noting that satellite services could also be damaged in wartime, so near-space drones could replace them in this occasion.
The successful first flight of the Qimingxing-50 lays a solid foundation for the development of key technologies in the country’s new energy field, the composite (复合的) material field, which will enhance China’s ability to perform tasks in near space and over far oceans. AVIC will seize the opportunity to increase investment and speed up the development of large solar-powered unmanned aircraft.

B.It started the trend of using solar batteries in aircraft.
C.It developed China’s first fully solar-powered drone.
D.It greatly improved the speed of commercial airliners.
41.What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us about Qimingxing 50?
A.Its design features. B.Its diverse functions.
C.Its operating procedures. D.Its environmental benefits
42.What does the underlined word “offset” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Detect. B.Expose. C.Analyze. D.Remove.
43.What will AVIC do in the future?

(23-24高一上·广东深圳·期末)Paul Durietz is a 76-year-old social studies teacher from Illinois, the United States. On September 1, he set a Guinness World Record for the world’s longest teaching career. Mr. Durietz has been teaching for 53 years — since he was 23 years old.
When he was just 11, Mr. Durietz says, he made up his mind to be a social studies teacher. Social studies is the study of history, and how people, countries, and cultures are connected. He became interested in history after hearing stories from his father, who fought in World War II.
Mr. Durietz got his first teaching job at Woodland Middle School in Gurnee, Illinois in 1970. Ever since then, he’s been teaching social studies at the same school. He says he loves sharing his knowledge of history with students. “Teaching is never boring,” he says. “Every day is different.”
Things have changed a lot since Mr. Durietz first began teaching. When he started, he wrote on a blackboard with chalk, and the students used paper textbooks. These days, he and the students use computers and digital whiteboards. Despite this, Mr. Durietz says the students are still pretty much the same — except that now they have cell phones.
With or without technology, Mr. Durietz has used creative activities to help his students learn. For example, he has organized virtual field trips, geography contests, and special days about the US Civil War. He has even organized elections at school to help his students learn about politics.
Mr. Durietz wasn’t really trying to set a record. But his family, friends, and the people he works with encouraged him to apply to Guinness to see if he’d set a record. He had. Now he still has no plans to retire any time soon. “Keep working on what I love to do in life,” he says.

(23-24高一上·北京通州·期末)The issue of how to feed a growing population is a crucial issue for the 21st century. The issue was high on the agenda (当务之急) at the recent United Nations Climate Change Conference in Egypt. According to the UN, by 2050, we will need to produce 60% more food to feed a world population of 9.3 billion.
Cambridge Judge Business School supports a number of businesses which aim to promote sustainable agriculture practices. One of the most important fields is precision (精准) agriculture, the science of improving crop yields and assisting management decisions using the latest technology. Outfield Technologies is targeted at high value fruit farming. Farmers buy their own drones (无人机), and then the Outfield software creates flight plans over the farm and processes the images taken by the drones.
By counting the fruit on branches and measuring trees, farmers can see where to apply fertiliser with greater precision, reducing usage and improving soil sustainability. Outfield’s software can also recommend where to start harvesting to reduce waste and labour costs. The rising cost of labour globally has become a huge issue within the agricultural industry, for reasons including the shortage of backpackers (some of whom become seasonal workers) in New Zealand, and the rise of minimum pay in South Africa.
The data gathered by drones can also predict yields. “Priming” the supply chain ensures a smoother journey from the farm to fruit bowl in your home. When an apple is picked, it is stored in a refrigerated environment for up to six months before being transported to a pack house to be washed, sorted, packaged, before being moved to a delivery centre and finally appearing on supermarket shelves. The chain depends heavily on transportation, but by predicting yields, Outfield aims to reduce waste as traders can predict fruit levels and reduce greenhouse gases caused by refrigerated storage.
Outfield co-founder Oil Hilbourne said, “The agricultural industry needs more investment to change. More money for 5G, education and investment in start-ups.”
60.What does Outfield Technologies do for farmers?
A.It offers them free flights.

(23-24高一上·天津河北·期末)McCormick Place in Chicago, the largest convention center (会议中心) in North America, is covered in glass that is enjoyable for humans but deadly for birds. On Oct 5, over 1,000 migrating birds died from colliding with (相撞) its glass walls in a single day.
According to data from Cornell University, the number of birds killed there during that one night is roughly equal to the typical yearly bird collision deaths at the building.
One key reason for the accident is the glass. During the day, birds fly toward glass as it reflects a perfect image of the sky and nearby trees. As night falls, the bright light from glass buildings attracts birds who fly according to the location of the moon and stars. The recent collision happened on the night of Oct 5, when the lights in the building were on for an event.
After colliding with a building, many birds will die on the spot from a broken skull. Others may continue to fly for some distance, but they rarely survive for more than a few hours, as Brendon Samuels, who researches bird window collisions at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, told The Guardian.
Every year, nearly one billion birds collide with glass in the US, according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service. In China, bird collisions are not uncommon, either. In the autumn of 2022 and spring of 2023, the National Anti-bird Collisions Action Alliance reported a total of 190 cases of bird collisions, which included several types of birds listed as second-class protected wildlife.
These tragedies (悲剧) could have been avoided if appropriate (合适的) measures had been taken. Many places around the world have already put forward bird-related guidelines on building design. These include reducing the use of glass in building walls and applying bird-friendly materials and visual markers (视觉标记) to the buildings’ walls. Turning off lights at night during migration seasons can also significantly help reduce bird collisions.
Alongside guidelines on bird-friendly building design, people can also do their bit to help birds by putting stickers (贴纸) on glass windows in their homes and closing the curtains at night.
64.What do we know about the bird collision event that happened in Chicago on Oct 5?
A.It happened during the day.
B.About 10,000 birds were killed.
C.McCormick Place closed because of it.
D.The building`s glass is a key cause of it.
65.According to the passage, what happens to the birds after they collide with buildings?
A.Many die instantly or within a few hours due to injuries.
B.They fly back to where they came from.
C.They will be rescued and rehabilitated.
D.Most survive but with minor injuries.
66.What are the typical characteristics of bird-building collisions?
A.Common and harmful to birds.
B.Unavoidable and friendly to birds.
C.Rare and damaged to both birds and buildings.
D.Infrequent and preventable to both birds and buildings.

最后一段首句“The rise of Hanfu culture also means the birth of an emerging business. (汉服文化的兴起也意味着一种新兴商业的诞生。)”提出汉服文化的兴起带来新兴商业的诞生,其后“Miss Cang has been running a Hanfu store for four years. The store provides Hanfu rental and photography services. “Many international schools now come to us for Hanfu events on traditional holidays,” Miss Cang said. Her store also actively participates in Hanfu festivals. (仓小姐经营汉服店已经四年了。该店提供汉服租赁和摄影服务。“现在很多国际学校在传统节日来找我们举办汉服活动,”仓老师说。她的店也积极参加汉服节。)”用仓小姐经营的汉服店来证明汉服文化对商业的影响。故选C项。
72.主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第一段中“The development of Hanfu culture has witnessed (见证) numerous changes in recent years and is taking on various forms. (汉服文化的发展近年来发生了许多变化,呈现出多种形式。)”和下文内容可知,文章介绍了汉服文化的发展趋势,包括越来越多人喜欢汉服文化,社交媒体的普及使人们更容易获取相关信息,爱好者对汉服设计和风格有更高的要求,文化的发展引发了各种活动,同时也催生了相关的商业,所以“The development of Hanfu culture. (汉服文化的发展)”是文章主要内容。故选A项。

(23-24高一上·上海松江·期末)Nothing compares with the joy of coming home to a lovely pet. Besides keeping one company, pets may also decrease stress, improve heart health, and even help children with their social skills. Over the past 10 years, researchers have been looking at what the possible effects are.
Animals can offer comfort and support. Dogs are especially good at this. They’re sometimes brought into hospitals or nursing homes. Ann Berger, a researcher at the NIH Clinical Center, teaches the patients with serious diseases about mindfulness to help decrease stress and manage pain. “Mindfulness includes attention, awareness, etc.,” Berger says, “all those are things that animals bring to the table. People kind of have to learn it, while animals do this innately.” Researchers are also studying the safety of bringing animals into hospital settings because animals may bring people more germs (病菌). A current study is looking at the safety of bringing dogs to visit children with a certain kind of illness. Scientists will be testing the children’s hands to see if there are dangerous levels of germs brought by the dog after the visit.
Dogs may also help in the classroom. One study found that dogs can help children with ADHD, a disease related to attention. Researchers divided children with ADHD into two groups. The first group of kids read to dogs once a week for 30 minutes. The second group read to toys like dogs. After 12 weeks, kids who read to the real animals showed better social skills. They also had fewer behavioral problems. “Animals can become a way of building a bridge for the social communication,” says Griffin, a child development expert at NIH. He adds that researchers are trying to better understand these effects and whom they might help.
While pets may bring many health advantages, an animal may not work for everyone. Recent studies suggest that living with pets at an early age may help protect young children from developing allergies (过敏), but for people who are allergic to certain animals, having pets in the home can do more harm than good.
Researchers will continue to explore the many effects of having a pet. They are trying to find out what’s working, what’s not working, and what’s safe.
78.When the author says “animals do this innately” in paragraph 2, he probably means ______.
A.animals learn from humans to do this B.animals teach people to stop doing it
C.animals are born to be able to do this D.animals learn to do this as humans do
79.What does the study about dogs in the classroom tell us?
A.Reading to real dogs could help kids improve behavior.
B.Researchers brought dogs there to attract kids’ attention.
C.Dogs have poorer social skills than the kids with ADHD.
D.Toy dogs work as well as real dogs in accompanying kids.
80.What can we learn about the researchers in the passage?
A.They still have a long way to go in exploring pets’ effect.
B.They don’t doubt the safety of using animals in hospitals.
C.Berger helps patients to gain the ability to cure themselves.
D.Griffin doesn’t agree that dogs improve children’s reading.
81.What might be the best title for the passage?
A.Pets’ Various Work B.The Power of Pets
C.Pets as Assistants in School D.Patients’ Call for Pets
【答案】78.C 79.A 80.A 81.B
根据第二段“People kind of have to learn it, while animals do this innately. (人们必须去学,而动物animals do this innately。)”
根据第三段“After 12 weeks, kids who read to the real animals showed better social skills. They also had fewer behavioral problems. (12周后,给真正的动物读书的孩子们表现出了更好的社交能力。他们的行为问题也较少。)”可知,给真正的狗狗读书可以帮助孩子们改善行为。故选A。
根据最后一段“Researchers will continue to explore the many effects of having a pet. They are trying to find out what’s working, what’s not working, and what’s safe. (研究人员将继续探索养宠物的许多影响。他们试图找出什么有效,什么无效,什么是安全的。)”可知,在探索宠物的影响方面,他们还有很长的路要走。故选A。
根据第一段“Nothing compares with the joy of coming home to a lovely pet. Besides keeping one company, pets may also decrease stress, improve heart health, and even help children with their social skills. Over the past 10 years, researchers have been looking at what the possible effects are. (没有什么比得上回家有一只可爱的宠物带来的快乐了。除了陪伴,宠物还可以减轻压力,改善心脏健康,甚至帮助孩子掌握社交技能。在过去的10年里,研究人员一直在研究可能的影响。)”可知,这篇文章主要介绍宠物对人们的影响。所以,用B项“The Power of Pets”作为本文题目,与文章主题相符合。故选B。

(23-24高一上·上海奉贤·期末)It keeps what’s inside a mystery until you open it. There are usually toys in mystery boxes; but now, food has been added to the list.
Recently, the trend of “leftover mystery boxes” has become popular in many Chinese cities such as Beijing, Nanjing and Chengdu. Stores pack boxes full of unsold food or food nearing its expiration date at low prices.
“We make the leftover mystery boxes available to buy at the end of the day,” Wu Tian, a staff member at a convenience chain store in Beijing, told China Daily. The food, such as milk, bread and sandwiches, is sold at about half the original price and is usually sold out quickly. Many bakeries have also joined the “mystery box club”.
Due to their low price, leftover mystery boxes “are very promising as a new business mode” and can attract more consumers, Hong Yong, an expert at the Ministry of Commerce, told China Daily. “In addition, they follow the concept of zero-waste and environmental protection.”
In 2021, the total amount of food waste in China reached 160 million tons, with an average of 93 grams per meal per person, China Food Newspaper reported. Since the passage of China’s Anti-Food Waste Law in April 2021, people’s awareness of food waste reduction has increased. Leftover mystery boxes can be an effective way for people to deal with food waste.
However, some people have raised food security concerns. If consumers buy a food mystery box for their breakfast the next morning, even if the food looks fine at the moment, it may have gone bad overnight. Moreover, food made in the store, such as bread, isn’t labeled with the production date in many cases, according to China Consumer News. If a consumer unpacks a mystery box and discovers that the food tastes bad or has already passed the last date, then it will be difficult for them to protect their rights, such as getting money back.
Only by considering both food safety and consumer rights can mystery blind boxes achieve a win-win situation for both buyers and sellers, commented China Youth Daily.
82.What leads to the rise of the trend of “leftover mystery boxes”?
A.Stores make the leftover mystery boxes available at night.
B.People feel like such food as milk and bread more attractive.
C.It offers customers lower prices for those unsold food.
D.It goes against the concept of zero-waste and environmental protection.
83.The underlined word “expiration” in the 2nd paragraph is closest in meaning to .
A.ending B.producing C.purchasing D.selling
84.Why are some people worried about customers buying a food mystery box?
A.Because the food has gone bad when it’s bought.
B.Because customers’ rights are hard to protect.
C.Because the production dates are not clear enough.
D.Because customers cannot get a refund in many cases.
85.What’s the most suitable title for this passage?
A.Concerns Over Food Security B.Mystery Boxes of Leftover
C.A Solution to Food Waste D.A Win-win Situation
【答案】82.C 83.A 84.B 85.B
根据第四段中“Due to their low price, leftover mystery boxes “are very promising as a new business mode” and can attract more consumers, Hong Yong, an expert at the Ministry of Commerce, told China Daily.(商务部专家洪勇在接受《中国日报》采访时表示,由于价格低廉,剩菜盲盒“作为一种新的商业模式非常有前途”,可以吸引更多的消费者)”可知,导致了“剩菜盲盒”风潮的兴起的原因是它以更低的价格提供未售出的食品。故选C项。
根据划线词所在句“Stores pack boxes full of unsold food or food nearing its expiration date at low prices.(商店里装满了未售出的食品或接近expiration期的食品,价格很低)”中“date”和“at low prices”可推知,通常要快过期了的食品会低价出售,所以expiration date是指食品安全终止日期,expiration可理解为ending。故选A项。
根据第六段中“However, some people have raised food security concerns. If consumers buy a food mystery box for their breakfast the next morning, even if the food looks fine at the moment, it may have gone bad overnight. Moreover, food made in the store, such as bread, isn’t labeled with the production date in many cases, according to China Consumer News. If a consumer unpacks a mystery box and discovers that the food tastes bad or has already passed the last date, then it will be difficult for them to protect their rights, such as getting money back.(然而,一些人提出了对食品安全的担忧。
通读全文,结合第一段中“It keeps what’s inside a mystery until you open it. There are usually toys in mystery boxes; but now, food has been added to the list.(在你打开它之前,里面的东西一直是个谜。通常会有玩具在盲盒里;但现在,食物也加入其中)”和第二段中“Recently, the trend of “leftover mystery boxes” has become popular in many Chinese cities such as Beijing, Nanjing and Chengdu.(最近,在北京、南京、成都等中国许多城市,“剩菜盲盒”的风潮开始流行起来)”可知,本文报道了“剩菜盲盒”的兴起,并分析这一潮流兴起的原因和问题。

(23-24高一上·湖北武汉·期末)As activists and leaders first gathered in Dubai for COP28, the UN’s climate summit (峰值), a week ago, the chances of significant progress seemed small. The choice of the summit’s host country — the United Arab Emirates (阿拉伯联合酋长国), one of the world’s leading petrol (汽油) states with its chairman the head of its national oil company, threatened to turn the event into a funny show.
Instead, COP28 proved productive. For the first time the world has agreed to move away from the coal, oil and natural gas that are the major causes of global warming. The 198 parties to the UN Framework Convention (框架协定) on Climate Change agreed on a text that called for a change away from fossil fuels (化石燃料) “in a just and orderly way”.
An agreement between America and China ahead of the summit helped lay the basis. It meant that the two largest polluters and powers together tried to turn language on fossil fuels into the deal, which helped influence certain petrol states to move towards agreement.
Yet a global agreement is only one small step. A far bigger and harder one will be to translate words on a page into action in the real world. Reducing dependence on fossil fuels will depend on making them uncompetitive. Rich countries can achieve the purpose with a combination of carbon prices and subsidies for clean technologies. That is, the government can charge the companies using fossil fuels and reward those using clean technologies.
Poorer countries will need help. Developing countries with fossil-fuel reserves argued that it was unfair to expect them to give up one of their few income streams without being given aid to do so. The aid is expected to be around $25bn — 50bn a year in funds over the rest of this decade. Meanwhile, rich countries will try to limit their responsibility to the developing world.
In a sense, bridging the gap will determine whether the beginning of the end for the fossil-fuel age has come.
86.What had been expected of COP28 in Dubai?
A.Heated debate. B.Little progress.
C.Great achievement. D.Practical agreement.
87.What can we know about the agreement reached by the 198 parties?
A.It turned the deal of cutting fossil fuels into reality.
B.It confirmed the major causes of global warming.
C.It showed the common desire for a green world.
D.It promised a quick reduction in fossil fuels.
88.What does the underlined word “subsidies” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Fines. B.Plans. C.Funds. D.Investigations.
89.What’s the passage mainly about?
A.COP28 found a solution to global warming.
B.COP28 failed to achieve its original purpose.
C.The rich world has a duty to poorer countries.
D.The world reached a deal in reducing fossil fuels.
根据第一段中“As activists and leaders first gathered in Dubai for COP28, the UN’s climate summit (峰值), a week ago, the chances of significant progress seemed small. (一周前,当活动人士和领导人首次齐聚迪拜参加联合国气候峰会COP28时,取得重大进展的可能性似乎很小)”和第二段的“ Instead, COP28 proved productive.(然而COP28证明是富有成效的)”可知,原本人们认为这次大会进展甚微。故选B项。
87.推理判断题。根据第二段中“For the first time the world has agreed to move away from the coal, oil and natural gas that are the major causes of global warming. The 198 parties to the UN Framework Convention (框架协定) on Climate Change agreed on a text that called for a change away from fossil fuels (化石燃料) “in a just and orderly way”. (世界首次同意不再使用煤炭、石油和天然气,这些都是导致全球变暖的主要原因。《联合国气候变化框架公约》的198个缔约方就一份文件达成一致,呼吁“以公正有序的方式”改变对化石燃料的依赖)”可知,大家一致同意减少对化石燃料的依赖,以解决全球变暖问题。由此推知,这展示了大家对绿色世界的共同愿望。故选C项。
88.词句猜测题。根据画线词的下文“That is, the government can charge the companies using fossil fuels and reward those using clean technologies. (也就是说,政府可以向使用化石燃料的公司收费,并奖励那些使用清洁技术的公司)”可知,政府会奖励使用清洁技术的公司,因此是会对清洁技术给予补贴或资助,画线词的意思应该与Funds“资金”相近。故选C项。
89.主旨大意题。通读全文可知,并结合第二段“For the first time the world has agreed to move away from the coal, oil and natural gas that are the major causes of global warming. The 198 parties to the UN Framework Convention (框架协定) on Climate Change agreed on a text that called for a change away from fossil fuels (化石燃料) “in a just and orderly way”.(世界首次同意不再使用煤炭、石油和天然气,这些都是导致全球变暖的主要原因。

A.Many die instantly or within a few hours due to injuries.
B.They fly back to where they came from.
C.They will be rescued and rehabilitated.
D.Most survive but with minor injuries.
66.What are the typical characteristics of bird-building collisions?

It keeps what’s inside a mystery until you open it.

D.It promised a quick reduction in fossil fuels.
88.What does the underlined word “subsidies” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Fines. B.Plans. C.Funds. D.Investigations.

A.COP28 found a solution to global warming.
B.COP28 failed to achieve its original purpose.
C.The rich world has a duty to poorer countries.
D.The world reached a deal in reducing fossil fuels.

(23-24高一上·湖南湘西·期末)During the Halloween season, many people visit pumpkin (南瓜) fields or carve pumpkins. But paddle (用桨划) a 1,000-pound pumpkin in a race? On October 22 in Oregon, paddlers in Halloween clothes did just that.
The West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta took place on the lake in Tualatin, a small city outside Portland. Back in 2004, a club called the Pacific Giant Vegetable Growers (PGVG) came up with the idea for the event. The PGVG wanted to alter their large pumpkins into boats and paddle them. They asked the city of Tualatin if they could use the lake for a party.
The first year, about 100 people showed up. Now, about 20,000 come to watch the races. “It’s just a good time to finally have some fun with these pumpkins that we’ve spent countless hours all year long trying to grow,” said Jim Sherwood, a champion pumpkin grower, who is one of the Regatta’s founders and organizers.
The PGVG provides pumpkins for the Regatta’s five races. This year, paddlers came from across the country and from as far away as France and Japan. “Surprisingly, it’s on a lot of people’s wish list to paddle a pumpkin,” said Heidi Marx, the event’s director for the city of Tualatin.
Just before the races began, the growers emptied the pumpkins. The paddlers dressed in holiday clothing jumped in, and the first race started.
Gary Kristensen from Happy Valley, Oregon, won the first race. He was dressed as the movie character Mrs. Doubtfire. It was Kristensen’s fourth year winning a pumpkin race. “Once everybody thinks you will win, it starts to give you a little bit of pressure,” he said. “Fortunately, my pumpkin was pretty fast.”

The 19th Asian Games was held in Hangzhou, capital of East China’s Zhejiang Province from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
The Asian Games is the largest sporting event in Asia. Its predecessor (前身) was the Far Eastern Games. In 1948, Guru Dutt Sondhi, the leader of Indian sports, felt that the Far Eastern Games were not good enough to reflect the level of Asian sports and the unity spirit of Asian people, and suggested establishing the Asian Games so that all Asian countries could participate.
The Hangzhou Asian Games is the third Asian multi-sport event held in China, with 12,417 athletes from all 45 Asian countries and regions participating. Some rising sports that have recently gone viral among young people made their first appearance at this year’s Games, such as break dance and e-sports. Weiqi, a mind sport, has returned to the Hangzhou Games after a 13-year absence since it appeared at the Guangzhou Games in 2010. Certain regional sports in Asia, especially dragon boat racing, kurash, and sepak takraw, though not recognized as Olympic sports, were medal-awarded events at the Asian Games.
In the lead-up to the sporting event, the design details of the victory ceremony elements, including bouquets (花束), trays, and podiums, were revealed. The bouquet, named “Fruits of Victory”, blends traditional Chinese elements such as rice ears and lotus pods, signifying fruitful harvests, and wishes the athletes a journey of accomplishment and honor. The medal tray’s design is inspired by the ripples of the West Lake and describes the elegance of lakes and hills. (23-24高一上·湖南株洲·期末)Will Smith jumped into a live volcano and kayaked (划皮艇) down an Icelandic whitewater river for his latest project. But he wasn’t making an action movie. It was personal.
Smith, a Hollywood leading man who admits that he’s far from enjoying outdoor activities, has put himself in danger while filming Welcome to Earth, a Disney original series from National Geographic. He was afraid at that time, but he says “It’s really difficult to enjoy things if you’re scared. I think the ability to see how beautiful things are is directly connected to your openness to them and fear closes you down.”
Smith says he was once scared of everything and hated water, but he learns to read the rapids (急流) while whitewater kayaking, rescues turtles near the Great Barrier Reef and goes 3,000 feet below the sea in a deep-water submarine.
Dr. Albert Lin, an engineer and explorer who has uncovered lost cities previously for National Geographic, was astonished to find that Smith was able to control his fears even in the face of real danger. While diving in the underground lake in Namibia, Smith got into trouble and Lin watched him “dropping at a rate that felt like maybe we wouldn’t see him again. “But Smith was able to control his mind and deal with the situation. “I respected Will Smith, the actor, before, but now I definitely have grown to truly respect Will Smith, the human being,” says Lin.
Produced by famous filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, the series carries on the tradition of National Geographic pushing the exploring envelope (极限) and employing the latest technology to help us understand our world. “I hope this can help people out there get a sense of how absolutely incredible our planet is,” says Lin.
The experts Smith has paired with teach him about speed, smell and sound and the colors out there he might miss. “You can’t really want to protect something that you don’t understand. And you can’t want to protect something that you can’t recognize as beautiful,” Smith says.
