Here are some programs you can choose from. High School Exchange Individuals studying for a semester or full year in Australia will usually live with a host family. This is a great opportunity for students to see what daily family life is like in Australia. Students learning English will see their language skills improve from communicating with their new friends and family, while those familiar with the language already can use this opportunity to learn more about the day-to-day life in Australia. Youth Travel Tours Travel tours for teens are a wonderful way for high school students to spend a short, concentrated amount of time abroad. Tours are usually for different themes such as cooking, adventure travel, or volunteerism. Students will have a fun, unique experience while incorporating educational components like environmental or cultural studies-and all without missing your normal coursework back home. Summer Study Program For students who only have the few months of summer break available, an advanced summer program is perfect. Just keep in mind, the summer of the northern hemisphere is actually the winter of Australia. Oftentimes these summer programs can be partnered with universities that will allow students to receive college credits. 21. What can High School Exchange offer? A. C On August 20th, 2024, the Chinese gaming industry reached a milestone with the global launch(发行)of Black Myth: Wukong, a new AAA action role-playing game developed by Game Science. Within hours of launch, it topped Steam’s most-played single-player list, drawing much attention on social media. Black Myth: Wukong draws on Chinese mythologies (神话) and the classic novel Journey to the West. It allows players to imagine the role of Sun Wukong and start great adventures, creating some lively and impressive sights, like high mountains, wild roads and ancient temples. The various gods and other figures with Chinese-style designs in the game are based on The Classic of Mountains and Seas, breathing new life into the ancient stories of Chinese mythology. Feng Ji, Game Science’s CEO, stressed that the game was created completely by a Chinese team to bring Chinese stories to the global gaming stage. He said, “The story and artistic ideas always break new ground, integrating (融入) Chinese stories and classical culture into the game.” He believed that a game’s true value is not decided by how much it costs or how much it will make, but by the satisfactory enjoyment it offers players. According to the Xinhua News Agency, to create a truly immersive (沉浸式的), world-class game, the game’s production team spent years traveling across China, visiting historical and cultural sites, and integrating them into every game. The game designs 36 locations which look like real-world sites, with 27 of them in Shanxi Province, China, offering players a unique and immersive experience. The game has increased interest in Shanxi’s cultural heritage. On its launch day, the search online increased by over 10%. Bookings for trips to Shanxi have doubled since July, and the number of tourists to Shanxi has grown by 50%. Shanxi has many tourist attractions but lacks recognition both at home and abroad. D In a number of studies, researchers found highly trained dogs may be more successful than untrained pets in independently solving newly-presented problems. Researchers have discovered that one of the factors (因素) behind this process may be persistence (坚持). It includes reinforcement, the rule that behaviors that are rewarded become stronger and more often. The other side of this is extinction, which refers to the fact that behaviors that are not rewarded grow weaker and become less likely to appear. When extinction sets in, the animal will simply quit before the problem is solved. It is possible that highly trained dogs have learned to persist and thus are less likely to be affected by extinction, which would make them better problem solvers. In this recent study, the researchers looked at 26 adult dogs divided into two groups, “trained dogs” and “pet dogs”.There were two tasks that the dogs were tested on. One was a social learning task where the dog had to learn to look directly into the experimenter’s eyes. Every time the dog stared at the experimenter’s face, they received a treat (reinforcement). Once the dogs were performing this task, the extinction stage began, and the staring behavior was no longer rewarded in order to see how persistent the newly learned behavior was. The second task focused on problem-solving. It involved a flat disk that had bone-shaped plastic bones. The dogs had to learn to remove the plastic bones to get the treat hiding under each one. After the series (一系列) of rewarded experiments, the extinction stage began, and no more reinforcements were provided for removing the bones. In the social learning task, the trained dogs stared at the experimenters more than the pet dogs during extinction. While in the problem-solving task, the trained dogs picked up a larger number of bones during extinction. In other words, for dogs who had been trained, their newly learned behaviors persisted longer and were stronger than the behaviors of the pet dogs who received no training in any area. 32. How does the author introduce the topic? A. By listing a fact. B. By raising a doubt. C. By making a comparison. D. By showing a conclusion. 33. Which of the following can be seen as “reinforcement”? A. Chaining a dog up while walking it every day. B. Giving a goat some grass every time it stands up. C. Putting a fish back into the pool every time it jumps out. D. Shouting at a cat every time it fails to catch a mouse. 34. How can dogs benefit from training in the experiment? A. They are better at helping their friends. B. They can grow stronger than untrained dogs. C. They are more likely to live longer. D. Their newly learned behaviors last longer. 35. Which of the following can be the best title of the text? A. How to Pick out a Suitable Pet Dog B. Why Persistent Dogs Make Better Pets C. Why Trained Dogs Solve Problems Better D. Her name was Mrs. Thompson. And as she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children a lie. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. But that was impossible because there in the front row, slumped (萎靡不振) in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard. Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he didn’t play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. And Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a red pen, making bold (粗大醒目的) Xs and then putting a big “F” at the top of his papers. At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child’s past records and she put Teddy’s off until last. However, when she reviewed his information, she was surprised. Teddy’s first grade teacher wrote. “Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners... He is a joy to be around.” His second grade teacher wrote. “Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness (绝症) and life at home must be a struggle.” His third grade teacher wrote, “His mother’s death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best but his father doesn’t show much interest in him and his home life will be in trouble.” Teddy’s fourth grade teacher wrote. “Teddy is quiet and doesn’t show much interest in school. He doesn’t have many friends and sometimes sleeps in class.” By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped (包;裹) in beautiful paper and tied with pretty ribbons (丝带), except for Teddy’s. First of all, we should form the good habit of keeping early hours. As the saying goes, early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. In addition, we’re supposed to take meals slowly and regularly, which contributes to good digestion and health. Last but not least, it’s strongly recommended that we should spare as much time as possible to work out. Only in this way can we live a happy and healthy life and make our study more productive. I sincerely hope my advice will be of some help to you. Yours, Li Hua 第2节 (满分25分) Mrs. Thompson opened it in the middle of the other presents. Inside the heavy, brown paper, she found a small box, with some dirty hand prints obviously seen. Upon spotting this ugly item, his classmates burst into laughter while Teddy lowered his head awkwardly, speechless. Curiously, Mrs. Thompson opened it, her hands covering her mouth in no time and tears welling up from her eyes. Laid inside was a single, perfect white seashell with a note written in Teddy’s untidy handwriting: “For you, Mrs. Thompson. Thank you for being my teacher.” At that moment, mixed feelings swept over her. She couldn’t contain her emotion and rushed to hug Teddy tightly. After the children left, she cried for at least an hour. Each tear that fell carried a weight of regret. She reflected on all the times she had judged Teddy without truly understanding his struggles. How could she have been so cruel to a poor boy? Then she made a silent promise to be more careful and understanding to her students. From that day forward, Mrs. Thompson did everything she could to reach out to him. When marking his papers, she offered him more encouragement and support. Slowly but surely, she began to see a change in him. Sometimes genuine care can truly make a difference to others’ life, whether you’re a teacher or somebody else. Thompson opened it in the middle of the other presents.”,再结合文本最后一段“Teddy给老师的圣诞节礼物明显不如其他学生的漂亮”可知,本段续写的主要内容为:牛皮纸里面包的是什么;同学们看到礼物的反应;老师的反应。 根据续写第二段开头语“After the children left, she cried for at least an hour.” Mrs. 故选A。 Last December, Xing Bin,...... was so eager to know...... from December to January this year. 故选A。 25. During the month, Xing worked more than 10 hours and...... he earned 10 yuan each hour, and 20 yuan at most. 故选A。 29. 故选A。 根据第二段中“It involves reinforcement, the principle that behaviors that are rewarded become stronger and more frequent.” 根据最后一段中“In other words, for dogs who had been trained, their newly learned behaviors persisted longer and were stronger than the behaviors of the pet dogs who received no training in any area.” 通读全文尤其根据第二段中“It is possible that highly trained dogs have learned to persist and thus have developed resistance to extinction, which would make them better problem solvers.” 下文it代指being a good leader。故选E。 37. 故选A。 根据下文“...No injuries to the children on the bus were reported… what could have been a very severe accident.” pass out昏倒。 44. jump into action立即行动。 45. be seated就座。 46. take control of控制。 49. attend to照顾……。 50. 根据故事情节和下文“No injuries to the children on the bus were reported.” 本题考查强调句型:it is +强调部分+that/who+其他内容。此处强调的是主语these three rivers,指物,故填that。 58. 分析句子结构可知,设空处应为谓语,根据之后的时间状语over the past three years可知,此处应为现在完成时;主语nine other areas为复数,且动词choose与主语之间为被动关系,应填have been done结构。 63. 故填its。 65. (Text 1) W: What can I do for you? Would you like some beef? M: Thanks. I just need some vegetables and seafood. (Text 2) W: I really want to go to the beach this weekend. The weatherman said it’s going to be warm. M: Good. I hope it doesn’t cool off. Here one minute it’s hot, and then the next minute it’s cold. (Text 3) W: What do you think of technical education and general education? M: They should enjoy equal importance. But technical schools should improve the quality and level of education. (Text 4) M: Do you have an order number there, Mrs. Garcia? W: Yes. It’s TP12FS. M: Ah, yes. TP12FS is the correct number for the purple teapot. The yellow one you wanted is TP12SF. (Text 5) M: Where did we leave off last time? W: We finished the third paragraph of the text. M: Thanks, Jane. Do you think the teacher will have a test as usual? W: Perhaps he will. (Text 6) M: We have learned body language in today’s class. And our teacher showed us how people use this language to express their feelings. W: Yeah, it’s quite useful. But I have an idea-body language can be used to help police. That’s based on proper training of body language. M: That’s a good point. It should be widely used by police officers. It’ll help solve a case. W: OK. I’ve made up my mind. I want to be a teacher in the future. M: All right. I’ll at your back. (Text 7) M: Why are there so many cars parked on our street this evening? I couldn’t get the car into our parking place. W: There is a concert in the park. Many people have driven here. M: That sort of thing shouldn’t be allowed. The last time there was a concert in the park, it was full of litter. W: I agree. They have no respect for local people. M: Maybe we should ask that no more concerts be held there. W: That’s a good idea. I think we should first speak to our neighbours and all sign a document. M: Okay, let’s do it. (Text 8) M: Lily, what kind of home do you live in? W: It’s a townhouse with two floors. M: Do you live with your parents? W: No, they live in a big farmhouse in the country. What about you, Tom? M: It’s an apartment. W: How many floors are there in your building? M: There are eight. And I live on the fourth floor. W: Do you like living there? M: Yes, I do. It’s near our factory. W: Oh, Helen is looking for an apartment near our factory. Maybe you can help her. (Text 9) W: We are going to travel abroad during the summer vacation. Are you with us? M: It’s still a month away. Have you planned it already? W: Yes, Sophie and I have long wished to go to Thailand. We want to taste the fruits there. M: It makes my mouth water. By the way. I don’t have a passport to go to Thailand. W: What? You don’t have a passport? M: I have no plan of going abroad. So, do I still have time to apply? W: That’s pretty bad. Because you have to apply for a visa and the visa process is a little troublesome. You need a passport first. M: I can get my passport in two weeks and then I should be able to get a visa before summer vacation. Do you agree? W: God bless you. I will make some travel plans next week. M: Yes, we can also join a tour group. (Text 10) W: Talking about delicious food, I would definitely recommend Luosifen to you. Luosifen is a dish known for its awful smell in the southern Chinese city of Liuzhou, Guangxi in the 1970s. Luosifen started as an inexpensive street snack. It was not until 2012 when a hit Chinese food programme, A Bite of China, featured it that it became famous. In 2014, China had the first company to sell packaged Luosifen. The popularity of the online eating show has made this Chinese local food more popular. Different from Luosifen, Shaxian is more like a cooking style. Different shops all have different menus, but they will have strong Fujian characteristics. Tens of thousands of Shaxian snack shops opened in the first few years. But soon the companies can’t promise food safety. Then the local government established the Shaxian Snack Bureau in 1997. This move has turned Shaxian snacks into an industrial chain around the country. 一年级英语答案 第 1 页 共 9 页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$一年级英语答案 第 1 页 共 8 页 宜昌市部分省级示范高中 2024秋季学期 高一年级期中考试英语答案及解析 第一部分 听力 (共 20小题,满分 30分) 1-5 CCBAB 6-10 ABACA 11-15 BBCBC 16-20 AACBA 第二部分 阅读 (共两节,20小题;每小题 2.5分,满分 50分) 21-23 BBA 24-27 ACBD 28-31 ADCA 32-35 DBDC 36-40 EBCFA 第三部分 语言运用 (共两节,满分 30分) 第一节 完形填空 (共 15小题;每小题 1分,满分 15分) 41-45 ABCDD 46-50 CBACB 51-55 CDCAB 第二节 语法填空 (共 10小题;每小题 1.5分,满分 15分) 56. lies 57. that 58. at 59. opened 60. greener 61. taking 62. have been chosen 63. which 64. its 65. importance 第四部分 写作 (共两节,满分 40分) 第一节 (满分 15分) Dear Li Tao, You have asked me for advice concerning healthy lifestyle to better adapt to high school life, and I am writing this letter, hoping to offer you some practical suggestions. While in the problem-solving task, the trained dogs picked up a larger number of 高一年级英语试卷 第 8 页 共 12 页 bones during extinction. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped (包 ;裹 ) in beautiful paper and tied with pretty ribbons (丝带 ), except for Teddy’s. His present was uglily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that he got from a shopping bag. Mrs. Thompson opened it in the middle of the other presents. ______________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________ After the children left, she cried for at least an hour. _____________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________
