Lead-in
Play a video about different kinds of movies and ask students to match the kinds with the pictures. Present new words action movie, cartoon.
Watch a video about six different kinds of movies and try to match them.
Pre-listening
Present the pictures in 1a one by one and ask students to name the kind. Guide students to ask and answer in pairs about their opinion on different kinds of TV shows and movies.
Identify kinds of TV shows and movies. Talk about their preferences with description words.
Guide students to observe the newspaper on John’s hands and predict what he is talking with Mary.
Predict what John and Mary are talking about according to the newspaper John is reading.
While-listening
Play the recording for the first time and ask students to listen and answer two questions:Q1: What do they want to watch at first? Q2: What do they decide to watch at last? Guide students to understand that John and Mary have different opinions about what to watch but at last they make an agreement.
Listen and answer two questions and check answers.
Play the recording for the second time and ask students to circle the description words they hear in 1a. Check the answers.
