In the summer of 2014 her schedule was filled with friends, marriage celebrations — flowers-filled occasions(场合) that got her thinking, “Where do all the flowers go after the party?” More often than not, they were thrown out. Law, then 27, was confident she could find a better use for them. By August, she had a plan: ask couples and companies hosting events to donate (捐赠) their flowers, which she would pick up and deliver within 48 hours to seniors across the city. She wanted to bring beauty into the lives of the old. She drew on her experience volunteering with non-profits in order to set up her own organization, which she called Floranthropie. Not having enough bouquets (花束) for all 150 people of a health center, Law asked them to supply a list of patients who needed cheering up most, “The first woman I met thought it was a mistake, and that the flowers couldn’t possibly be for her,” says Law. “I said they were a gift, and we talked for half an hour.” Besides health centers, Floranthropie focuses on community groups devoted to the elderly. Theleme is a volunteer for Les Petits Fieres, an organization that aims to help the elderly who don’t have a support system. The group receives some bouquets from Floranthropie monthly, and then gives them to the old. “Our motto (座右铭) is ‘flowers before bread’,” says Theleme. “We don’t focus on primary care, but rather on nourishing (滋养) the spirit. Floranthropie helps that. It’s amazing that a small bouquet can make a big difference.” 24. What made Christine Law set up Floranthropie? A. The loneliness of seniors. B. The waste of flowers. C. The persuasion of other friends. D. The warm atmosphere of weddings. 25. What can we infer about Floranthropie from Laetitia Theleme’s words? A. It should focus on primary care. B. It is benefiting more than the old. C. It is doing something of great importance. D. It should cooperate with more non-profits. 26. What is the best title for the text? A. Brighten Seniors’ Lives With Flowers. B. Volunteer Your Time. C. Don’t Throw Them Out. D. Special Delivery Makes Your Day. C The Internet plays a big part in human life. We use it for work and pleasure. We use it to learn a new language. We find advice on it. We use it to connect with family and friends. We use it to stay in touch with events we care about. The list goes on and on. As far as the Internet being a part of our lives, — well, that train has left the station. There is no going back to an Internet-free life. But can using the Internet too much be bad for our health? It might be, say researchers. A new study finds that heavy Internet use may be connected to high blood pressure (血压) in a young group: teenagers. The study results show that teens who spend at least 14 hours a week only online may cause high blood pressure, which makes your heart and blood vessels (血管) work too hard. Over time, this extra pressure increases your risk of a heart attack. High blood pressure can also cause heart and other diseases. The Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan did the study. 335 young people, from 14 to 17 years old, took part in it. 134 of the teens were described as “heavy Internet users”. And researchers found that out of these 134 teens, 26 had high blood pressure. The researchers say the study is the first to connect heavy web use with high blood pressure. The lead researcher is Andrea Cassidy Bushrow. She said, “Using the Internet is part of our daily life, but it shouldn’t ruin us.” Ms. Cassidy Bushrow adds that it is important for teens to stop to have a rest regularly from their computers or smart phones and do some kind of physical activity. She also suggests that parents shouldn’t let their children use the Internet for more than two hours a day, five days a week. 27. What does the underlined part “that train has left the station.” mean in paragraph 2? A. Life without the Internet is nowhere to be found. B. The train has stopped at the wrong station. C. There is something wrong with the station. D. The train has changed its course. 28. What can we learn from Para. 3and Para.4 ? A There is no relation between high blood pressure and Internet use. B. There are more advantages than disadvantages of Internet use. C. Heavy Internet users will probably have high blood pressure. D. There is no harm of high blood pressure. 29. Andrea Cassidy Bushrow would agree that ________. A. teenagers shouldn’t use the Internet B. the Internet will ruin human life in the future C. smart phones are more harmful than computers D. regular breaks are necessary when using the Internet 30. What can be used as the best title of the passage? A. Most teenagers have high blood pressure. B. How to prevent teenagers from the Internet. C. Every coin has two sides - so does the Internet. D. Too much Internet use may be bad for teenagers. Everyone feels stressed from time to time But what is stress? How does it affect your health? And what can you do about it? Stress is how the brain and body respond to any demand. Every type of demand or stressor — such as exercise, work, school, or major life changes — can be stressful. Stress can affect your health. Yet not all stress is bad. Stress can motivate people to prepare or perform, like when they need to take a test or interview for a new job. Stress can even be life-saving in some situations. In response to danger, your pulse quickens, you breathe faster, your muscles tense, your brain uses more oxygen and increases activity — all functions aimed at survival. However, health problems can occur if the stress response goes on for too long or becomes chronic (长期的). With chronic stress, those same life-saving responses in your body can suppress (抑制) immune, digestive, sleep, and reproductive systems, which may cause them to stop working normally. Some people may experience digestive symptoms (症状), while others may have headaches, sleeplessness, sadness or anger. The following are some tips that may help you cope with stress: ●Recognize the Signs of your body’s response to stress, such as difficulty sleeping, being easily angered, feeling depressed, or having low energy. ●Get Regular Exercise. Just 30 minutes per day of walking can help improve your mood and reduce stress. ●Try a Relaxing Activity. Explore stress coping programs, which may include meditation, yoga, tai chi, or other gentle exercises. For some stress-related conditions, these approaches are used in addition to other forms of treatment. Schedule fixed times for these and other healthy and relaxing activities. ●Set Goals and Priorities Decide what must get done and what can wait, and learn to say no to new tasks if they are putting you into overload. Note what you have finished at the end of the day, not what you have been unable to do. ●Stay Connected with people who can provide emotional and other support. To reduce stress, ask for help from friends, teachers or family members. If you’re stressed out and can not function well, do ask for professional help. 31. According to the passage, what are the causes of stress? ___________________________________________________________________________________________ 32. What are the benefits of stress? ___________________________________________________________________________________________ 33. If people suffer from stress for a very long time, what physical symptoms might they experience? ___________________________________________________________________________________________ 34. In the summer of 2014, her schedule was filled with friends, marriage celebrations — flowers-filled occasions(场合) that got her thinking, “Where do all the flowers go after the party?” More often than not, they were thrown out. B 25. C 26. 根据文章第一段“It took several weddings for Christine Law to realize what she needed to do. In the summer of 2014, her schedule was filled with friends, marriage celebrations—flowers-filled occasions (场合) that got her thinking, “Where do all the flowers go after the party?” More often than not, they were thrown out. Law, then 27, was confident she could find a better use for them.(Christine Law经历了几场婚礼才意识到自己需要做什么。 根据最后一段““We don’t focus on primary care, but rather on nourishing (滋养) the spirit. Floranthropie helps that. It’s amazing that a small bouquet can make a big difference.(我们的重点不是初级关怀,而是滋养精神。Floranthropie对此有所帮助。一束小小的花束却能产生巨大的影响,这真是太神奇了)”可知,它正在做一些非常重要的事情。故选C项。 【26题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第二段“By August, she had a plan: convince couples and companies hosting events to donate their flowers, which she would pick up and deliver within 48 hours to seniors across the city.(到了8月,她有了一个计划:说服举办活动的夫妇和公司捐出鲜花,她会在48小时内取花并送到全市的老年人手中)”以及后文可知,Law决定把废弃的花儿送给老人,并专门创立了一个慈善机构Floranthropie来扩大影响力,让越来越多的老人能够收到花,整篇文章都是围绕用花来帮助老人,故A项“用鲜花照亮老年人的生活”是最佳标题。故选A项。 C The Internet plays a big part in human life. A. There is no relation between high blood pressure and Internet use. 【答案】27. A 28. C 29. D 30. D 【解析】 【分析】本文是说明文。一项研究发现,青少年过度使用因特网可能导致高血压。 【27题详解】 词句猜测题。第一段中The Internet plays a big part in human life.(因特网在人类生活中扮演着重要的角色)及列举的我们日常生活中用到因特网的方方面面;在第二段作者引用了这句that train has left the station(那列火车已经离开车站了),紧接着又指出There is no going back to an Internet-free life.(我们不能返回到没有因特网的生活了)由此可见,这句话在此处所要表达的意思是:没有互联网的生活是无处可寻的。故选A。 【28题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中的The study results show that teens who spend at least 14 hours a week only online may cause high blood pressure, which makes your heart and blood vessels (血管) work too hard.(研究结果表明,每周上网至少14个小时的青少年可能会导致高血压,这让你的心脏和血管工作得太辛苦)及第四段中的And researchers found that out of these 134 teens, 26 had high blood pressure. The researchers say the study is the first to connect heavy web use with high blood pressure.(研究人员发现,在这134名青少年中,有26人患有高血压。研究人员表示,这项研究首次将大量上网与高血压联系起来)可知,新的研究发现过度使用因特网会很可能会导致高血压,也就是说过度使用因特网的人可能会患有高血压。故选C。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中的Ms. Cassidy Bushrow adds that it is important for teens to stop to have a rest regularly from their computers or smart phones and do some kind of physical activity.(Cassidy Bushrow女士补充说,青少年应该经常停下电脑或智能手机休息,进行一些体育活动,这很重要)可知,Andrea Classidy-Bushrow认为上网时隔一段时间休息是很有必要的。故选D。 【30题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第二段中的A new study finds that heavy Internet use may be connected to high blood pressure (血压) in a young group: teenagers.(一项新的研究发现,在青少年群体中,大量使用互联网可能与高血压有关)及下文介绍的高血压会导致的后果和专家给与的一些建议可知,文章主要讲的是一项研究发现青少年过度使用因特网可能会导致高血压。由此可知,D项Too much Internet use may be bad for teenagers.(过多使用互联网可能对青少年有害)适合做本文最佳标题。故选D。 【点睛】依据逻辑推理猜测词义:运用逻辑推理猜测词义是使用最广考查最多也最易失分的猜词方式。要求考生具备整合分散、复杂信息的能力,充分利用上下文中相关的词汇并结合具体的语境,从形式和内容上把握语言之间的内在联系,理顺语言之间的逻辑关系,进而达到猜词的目的。在第2小题中,可以根据该划线词所在的上下文语境来推测其意义。如第1小题,What does the underlined part “that train has left the station.” mean in paragraph 2?在第二段中划线部分“that train has left the station”是什么意思。根据文章第一段中The Internet plays a big part in human life.(因特网在人类生活中扮演着重要的角色)及列举的我们日常生活中用到因特网的方方面面;在第二段作者引用了这句that train has left the station(那列火车已经离开车站了),紧接着又指出There is no going back to an Internet-free life.(我们不能返回到没有因特网的生活了)由此可见,这句话在此处所要表达的意思是:没有互联网的生活是无处可寻的。故选A。 第四部分:书面表达(共两节,共25分) 第一节 阅读表达(共4小题;第51、52、53小题各2分,第54小题4分,共10分) 阅读下面短文,根据题目要求回答问题。 Everyone feels stressed from time to time. But what is stress? ●Set Goals and Priorities (首要事情). Decide what must get done and what can wait, and learn to say no to new tasks if they are putting you into overload. Note what you have finished at the end of the day, not what you have been unable to do. ●Stay Connected with people who can provide emotional and other support. To reduce stress, ask for help from friends, teachers or family members. If you’re stressed out and can not function well, do ask for professional help. 31. According to the passage, what are the causes of stress? ___________________________________________________________________________________________ 32. What are the benefits of stress? ___________________________________________________________________________________________ 33. If people suffer from stress for a very long time, what physical symptoms might they experience? ___________________________________________________________________________________________ 34. Suppose your friend Jim will take an important exam in a few days, and he feels quite stressed right now. Please give him one piece of advice on relieving stress, and explain why. (In about 20-30 words.) ___________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】31. According to the passage, stress can be caused by various demands or stressors, including exercise, work, school, and major life changes. 32. Physical activity can boost your mood and reduce stress, helping you feel more relaxed and focused before the exam. 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了压力的定义、影响、益处及应对压力的方法。 【31题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段的“Stress is how the brain and body respond to any demand. Every type of demand or stressor — such as exercise, work, school, or major life changes—can be stressful.(压力是大脑和身体对任何需求的反应。每种类型的需求或压力源,如锻炼、工作、学校或重大的生活变化,都可能带来压力)”可知,压力可能是由各种需求或压力源引起的,包括运动、工作、学校和重大的生活变化。故答案为According to the passage, stress can be caused by various demands or stressors, including exercise, work, school, and major life changes. 【32题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段的“Stress can motivate people to prepare or perform, like when they need to take a test or interview for a new job.
