I’d like to share some suggestions with you. First of all, I think making a reasonable and practical plan is of great benefit, which will remind you to do something regularly so as to fundamentally reduce your stress. Meanwhile, don’t forget to spare a certain period of time for daily exercise to relax yourself. I hope my advice will get you through the challenging moment. 根据第一段“In the 2024-2025 school year, the school is preparing a series of events for prospective (潜在的) students and their families to learn about the school.(在2024-2025学年,学校正在准备一系列活动,让未来的学生和他们的家人了解学校)”可知,Linden Hall组织秋季开放日和周六参观是为了吸引未来的学生加入。故选B。 2. 根据Saturday Tours部分倒数第二段“Tours will include walking through the classroom buildings, the dining hall, and the gym (体育馆).(参观将包括参观教学楼、餐厅和体育馆)”可知,未来的学生在周六参观期间可以在导游的带领下参观体育馆。故选D。 3. 根据最后一段“To register for one of our tour dates, click here.(要注册我们的某个巡演日期,请点击这里)”可知,文章选自网站。故选B。 4.D 5.A 6.A 7.C 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。 根据第一段中“A few seconds later, I realized I was looking at a large turtle (海龟). Afraid of it being crashed by cars, so I pulled over, ran across the road and dragged the turtle to safety.(几秒钟后,我意识到我看到的是一只大海龟。 根据第二段中“I had heard that the best way to pick up a turtle without hurting it was picking it by the tail in order not to get bitten. So I’d made that big mistake.(我曾听说,要想抓住乌龟而不伤着它,最好的办法就是抓住它的尾巴,以免被它咬伤。 故选 A。 6. 根据第四段中Sue博士的话“Turtles know where they want to go. So, just keep them going in the direction they want to go and you may have saved a turtle’s life,(海龟知道自己要去哪里。 故选 A。 7. 根据最后一段中“Once an injured turtle arrives at the center, there are medical facilities (设备) ready to go, including an X-ray machine. That’s when the team gets to work with healing injuries, and help their patient.(一旦受伤的海龟到达该中心,就会有医疗设施准备就绪,包括X光机。 根据首段中的“Six scientists received some good news: they were being treated to an eight-month, all free trip to Hawaii. There was just one little difficulty: they would be spending all eight months living under Mars-like conditions to simulate (模拟) a mission to the planet.(六名科学家得到了一些好消息:他们将获得为期八个月的免费夏威夷之旅。 根据第四段中的“One possible reason why the six survived could be found in their blogs.(这六人幸存下来的一个可能原因可以从他们的博客中找到。)” 根据倒数第二段中的“About halfway through the mission, bad weather left them unable to use their solar-powered batteries. They had to gather closely together for warmth and limit energy use to just the important systems. Ms Lenio said, ‘If we had really been on Mars, that would have been life or death.’(大约在任务进行到一半时,恶劣的天气使他们无法使用太阳能电池。 故选A项。 11. 根据首段中的“Six scientists received some good news: they were being treated to an eight-month, all free trip to Hawaii. There was just one little difficulty: they would be spending all eight months living under Mars-like conditions to simulate (模拟) a mission to the planet.(六名科学家得到了一些好消息:他们将获得为期八个月的免费夏威夷之旅。 根据第二段“Researchers at Sussex University spent two years decoding the ‘waggle(摇摆) dance' of honeybees, a form of communication...” 根据第六段中“There is a large quantity of flowers in the spring and autumn, but it is harder for them to locate good blocks of flowers in the summer because agricultural intensification means there are fewer wildflowers in the countryside for bees”可知,夏天成为蜜蜂觅食最具挑战性的季节是因为鲜花的短缺。故选D。 14. 根据最后一段中“The researchers say the results can be used to focus efforts to help bees better. ‘The bees are telling us where they are foraging so we can...’” 故选A。 15. 16.上文“Time management can help you stand out in your studies, shine at work, and feel less stressed from day to day. But how can you make sure you’re managing your routine effectively? 所以A项“Here are some tips for you. 故选A。 17.上文“Use a digital calendar or a diary. Technology is a great way to manage your time and keep track of deadlines, appointments, and more. 科技是管理时间和跟踪截止日期、预约等事项的好方法)”以及下文“Write down daily tasks, like appointments and your work or school schedule. Set reminders for yourself. 所以D项“Make use of calendars in your phone and computer. 18.上文“It can help to know when you’re most able to use your time wisely and plan to work during those times. For example, if you find yourself energetic during the morning, try to get your main job done then. 所以F项“This can make you wind down and do relaxing things you enjoy in the evening. 19.上文“However, doing some small tasks that pile up over the weekend can Help. (然而,在周末处理一些累积的小任务可以帮助你)”以及下文“For example, you could briefly check and review e-mails during the weekend and then send out a few so that you’ll have fewer e-mails piled up by Monday. 所以G项“With small tasks done on the weekend, you’ll enjoy a relaxing start of a new week. 20.下文“As soon as you get up, think about what you need to do and make a rough outline of when to do it. 根据前文“I was suddenly attacked!” 故选A项。 22. A. missed错过;B. forgot忘记;C. stopped停止;D. avoided避免。根据后文“Instead, he flied in the air with its graceful wings in front of me.” 根据前文“but I was unhurt”和后文“I was laughing”可知,作者没有受伤,反而觉得这件事情很有趣,所以笑了。故选A项。 24. A. brought带来;B. hit撞击;C. took拿;D. sent发送。根据后文“me in the chest with his head and body over and over again with all his might”可知,攻击者用尽全力一次又一次地用头和身体撞击作者的胸部。故选B项。 25. A. panicked使恐慌;B. collected收集;C. impressed使印象深刻;D. attacked攻击。根据前文“I took a step forward, and my attacker rushed me again”可知,作者被蝴蝶攻击了,这不是每天都会发生的事情。故选D项。 26. A. reason原因;B. purpose目的;C. excuse借口;D. direction方向。根据后文“My attacker moved back as well to 7 on the ground. C.To introduce new school rules. D.To get advice from prospective students. 2.What can prospective students do during Saturday Tours? A.Shadow classes for the day. B.Have lunch in the dining hall. C.View the students’ dormitories. D.Take a guided tour of the gym. 3.Where can the text be found? A.In a newspaper. B.On a web page. C.In an educational report. D.In a travel guide. B One night, as I was driving down the road, I found something was sitting in the middle of the road. A few seconds later, I realized I was looking at a large turtle (海龟). Afraid of it being crashed by cars, so I pulled over, ran across the road and dragged the turtle to safety. But I’d made one big mistake. I had heard that the best way to pick up a turtle without hurting it was picking it by the tail in order not to get bitten. So I’d made that big mistake. While the turtle turned out OK generally, I was determined to figure out how to move a turtle properly. I needed to find someone who dealt with turtles. I found the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre. I talked to Dr. Sue, its Executive and Medical Director. Dr. Sue told me that the organization dealt with a number of aspects of turtle conservation, including rescue, settlement, birth programs, research, and education. Sue explained that southern Ontario is not only home to a vast majority of turtles in Canada, but is also one of the vastest road networks of the country. “Ninety percent of injured turtles brought in are caused by cars. These turtles spend a lot of time on land. And they do travel many kilometers on land for a variety of reasons, to find a nesting spot, or to hang out for the summer or winter. Turtles know where they want to go. So, just keep them going in the direction they want to go and you may have saved a turtle’s life,” Dr. Sue said. Once an injured turtle arrives at the center, there are medical facilities (设备) ready to go, including an X-ray machine. That’s when the team gets to work with healing injuries, and help their patient. 4.Why did the author stop the car? A.To make a discovery. B.To see the thing clearly. C.To prevent a car accident. D.To help the turtle. 5.What can we infer according to paragraph2? A.The turtle was injured a little bit by the author. B.The turtle lost its direction. C.The turtle was run over by a car. D.The turtle got hurt by people previously. 6.What did Dr. Sue suggest at last? A.Leaving the turtles alone. B.Making Ontario home to turtles. C.Changing the road conditions. D.Helping turtles find nesting spots. 7.What does the underlined word “patient” refer to in the last paragraph? A.The director. B.The author. C.The turtle. D.The driver. C Six scientists received some good news: they were being treated to an eight-month, all free trip to Hawaii. There was just one little difficulty: they would be spending all eight months living under Mars-like conditions to simulate (模拟) a mission to the planet. They carried out their own research projects, as NASA researchers watched to see whether they would develop cabin fever (幽闭烦躁症)-a feeling of upset and impatience when people have been inside for too long. The mission is in the hope of better understanding life on Mars. For the mission, surfing, fresh air and sunshine were all off the menu. During the eight months, the scientists had to live together in just 1, 300 square feet of living space, built on the side of the Mauna Loa (a volcano). Whenever they wanted to take a short walk outside their “house”, they had to put on a 40-pound spacesuit. As if to make things even tougher, showers were limited to eight minutes each week. Perhaps it should not be overly surprising that with the six having now completed their mission, they said re-entering the outside world was “a big joy”. One possible reason why the six survived could be found in their blogs. The mission commander, Ms Lenio, said she learnt to play an instrument and improved her French. Another scientist, Sophie Milam, excitedly posted a model boat made out of sticks by herself. But it wasn’t all fun. About halfway through the mission, bad weather left them unable to use their solar-powered batteries. They had to gather closely together for warmth and limit energy use to just the important systems. Ms Lenio said, “If we had really been on Mars, that would have been life or death.” Luckily, it did seem that the scientists had succeeded in avoiding cabin fever—Ms Lenio referred to her partners as “lovely people”. 8.Why does the author mention a trip to Hawaii in Paragraph 1? A.To describe the easy life of scientists. B.To tell us Hawaii is popular among visitors. C.To introduce the special mission. D.To show Hawaii is a perfect place to do research. 9.What can we learn from the scientists’ blogs? A.Life on “Mars” was always colorful. B.They were hopeless during the mission. C.They did what they liked to kill time. D.They learned something from each other. 10.What do Ms Lenio’s words in Paragraph 5 mean? A.The result would have been more serious on Mars. B.They wouldn’t meet the problem on Mars. C.Ms Lenio felt lucky to survive the mission. D.The mission was actually meaningless. 11.What may be the best title of the text? A.Scientists prove living on Mars is possible B.Six scientists’ trip to Hawaii simulates a mission to Mars C.Scientists learn a lot during their trip to Mars D.Six scientists successfully complete their mission on Mars D Honeybees fly much longer distances in the summer than in the spring and autumn to find good sources of food, a new study has found. Researchers at Sussex University spent two years researching the “waggle(摇摆)dance” of honeybees, a form of communication by which the bees tell their nestmates where to go to get the best source of food to bring back to the hive(蜂箱). By measuring the angle of the dance in relation to the sun and the length of time the bee waggled its body while moving in a figure of eight pattern, researchers have been able to map the distance and location where bees forage(觅食)from month to month. With a one-second waggle equal to a foraging distance of 750 meters, the bees' dance language revealed that the area they covered in search of food is about 22 times greater in the summer (July and August) than in spring(March) and six times greater in summer than in the autumn (October). In the summer the area they cover is 15.2 sq km,compared to 0.8 km in spring and 5. 1 km in the autumn. Honeybees will not waste valuable time and energy travelling to find food if they don't need to, so the researchers say the results show that the summer is the most challenging season for bees to collect the nectar and pollen from flowers. “There is a large quantity of flowers in the spring and autumn, but it is harder for them to locate good blocks of flowers in the summer because agricultural intensification means there are fewer wildflowers in the countryside for bees,” said Frances Ratnieks, author of the study. The researchers say the results can be used to focus efforts to help bees better. “The bees are telling us where they are foraging so we can now understand how best to help them by planting more flowers for them in the summer,” said Ratnieks. 12. What is the recent research mainly about? A.Relationship between honeybees. B.Honeybees’ eating behaviour. C.Sources of honeybee food. D.The honeybee’ dance language. 13. What makes summer the most challenging season for bees to find food? A. The high wind. B. The strong heat. C. Lengthening days. D. Shortage of flowers. 14. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about concerning the research finding? A. Its practical application. B. Scientists with new perspectives. C. Expectations for future studies. D. Its appeal to the public. 15. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Honeybees use the waggle dance to communicate. B. Honeybees fly longer distances in summer to find food. C. Agricultural intensification reduces wildflowers for bees. D. Researchers are helping bees by planting more flowers. Time management can help you stand out in your studies, shine at work, and feel less stressed from day to day.
