2019,
they
quickly

friends.
They
first
met
in

summer
camp,

a
difference

says
Cash.
Ela
agrees.
In
a
short
time,
their
meeting
changed
into
action.
The
Cleanup
Kids
came
out
to
make
waves
in
environmental
protection.
Elas
interest
in
the
environment
started
with
first-hand
experience
of
cleaning
up
rubbish
at
the
beaches.
For
Cash,
his
dream
of
protecting
the
environment
started
at
just
seven
years
old,
when
a
single
plastic
straw(吸管)
on
the
beach
caught
his
eye,
symbolizing
a
much
larger
problem.
That
was
when
he
knew
the
danger
facing
thousands
of
turtles,
seabirds
and
other
wildlife.
They
may
die
because
of
eating
waste
plastic.
Now
both
14,
they
sometimes
meet
at
environmental
events.
They
take
part
in
the
activities
such
as
setting
sea
turtles
free
and
summer
camp.
They
both
head
the
organ-

Cleanup
Kids.
It
now
has
many
members.
“My
hope
for
The
Cleanup
Kids
is
that
its
not
hundreds
of
kids
but
thousands
of
kids
who
can
join
us
to
make
a
big
difference,”
says
Ela.
Members
work
includes
doing
at
least
one
clean-
up
operation
a
month,
recording
the
colected
rubbish,
counting
every
piece
to
reach
the
goal
of
colecting
one
milion
pieces
of
rubbish
by
the
end
of
the
year,
and

recycling

2022,
Cash
and
Ela
received

International
Young
Eco-Hero
Awards.
