It was a typical November day, freezing in the shade and warm in the sun. A perfect day for outdoor shopping. Scott and I walked up and down looking at the many tables covered with Christmas decorations along with the usual clothes and jewelry, but we simply bought a few small items. After an hour of walking with the cold wind blowing, we decided to go home for lunch. On our way, we made a quick stop at Wawa for those delicious soft, . salted pretzels (椒盐卷). Scott ran into the store while I waited in the car. Sitting alone, I was rubbing my cold hands together when I noticed that my engagement ring (订婚戒指) was missing. . I knew I’d been wearing it when we’d visited a jewelry stand earlier, and I hadn’t taken it off. My heart was racing now. When I informed Scott of the missing ring he couldn’t believe it either. “Mom, if you had worn gloves, it wouldn’t have fallen off your finger. Look in your pockets and handbag!” We searched the car and searched my clothes, too. No ring! It must have fallen off my finger in the cold. We headed back to the flea market and parked in the same spot as before. We checked that area, and then began walking up and down the maze (迷宫) of tables while looking at the ground. Leaves blew in the wind and people were everywhere. Hundreds of feet passed by and I began getting lightheaded as I attentively looked at the ground. It was an expensive engagement ring my husband had given me years earlier. I had never lost or misplaced it in all that time... until now. I was annoyed with myself for having lost the ring. We drove home as I tried to hold back my tears. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 After lunch we decided to return to the flea market. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I took the left side of the main road and Scott the right. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 文章大意 在一个寒冷又阳光明媚的 11 月天,“我” 和儿子斯科特去跳蚤市场购物,买了些小物件后准备回家吃午饭,途中在便利店停留,“我” 发现订婚戒指不见了。 With a glimmer of hope in our hearts, we got out of the car and started our search again. We went over every inch of the ground we had walked before, asking the vendors if they had seen the ring. The wind was still blowing, but we didn't care. Our eyes were fixed on the possibility of finding that precious ring. I took the left side of the main road and Scott the right. I bent down low, scanning the ground carefully, my hands feeling the cold dirt. Scott was doing the same on the other side, calling out to me from time to time to see if I had any luck. We were like detectives on a mission, not willing to let this special piece of jewelry disappear from our lives. 示范二 After lunch we decided to return to the flea market. We were desperate to find the ring. We walked slower this time, examining every crack and crevice. People looked at us strangely as we scoured the area, but we paid them no mind. The thought of losing the ring forever spurred us on. I took the left side of the main road and Scott the right. I moved aside leaves and debris, praying that the ring would be there. My heart raced with every step. Scott was just as focused, his eyes not missing a single spot. We both knew that this ring was more than just a piece of jewelry; it was a symbol of our family's love. 参考答案 After lunch we decided to return to the flea market. If we were going to find it, it was now or never. Time was of the importance. And so, for the third time we parked the car in the same spot. Because it was later in the day, most of the vendors had packed up and left. We went to the manager's office and told him my sad story. I left my name and phone number hoping that someone would find the ring and turn it in. After that, I took a deep breath and we set out on our mission. It was much warmer and not as windy. I took the left side of the paths and Scott the right. We walked and walked and walked. There was broken glass that shone like a diamond ring. There were shiny soda can tabs that caught our eye. There were silver coins. Finally, we reached the far end of the flea market. There were a number of empty tables because the vendors had already packed up and left. And there, under one of those tables, I spotted a shiny little circle in the dirt. I shouted to Scott that I had found the ring! He said it was unbelievable! Yes, it was truly a miracle. Three hours after I lost it, with hundreds of people walking by, my ring waited for the person meant to find it…. me! 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
