You probably consider calorie (卡路里) burning with training. You can get great calorie burning effects with the following exercises.Running
Running is one of the best calorie burners out there. An average person can burn anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories in one hour of running. Speed and pace are all factors that can affect calorie burning. But running uses every muscle group in the body, allowing you to burn more calories.High Intensity Interval (高强度间歇运动) Training (HIIT)
If you want intensity, HIIT is right for you. This physical exercise involves working hard in intervals, then resting. Because your heart rate will stay at a high level, you’ll burn more calories in less time. On average, a person will burn 400 to 600 calories in 30 minutes.Jumping rope
This childhood activity can actually do wonders for your health. Jumping rope is great for strengthening the lower and upper body while training your balance and coordination (协调能力), because your mind has to work while you jump. Jumping rope can burn 600 to 1,000 calories in an hour.Swimming
Swimming is a low-intensity form of exercise that also uses muscle groups of your body. In just 30 minutes of swimming, an average person can burn 200 to 300 calories. Swimming also helps to shape body, control blood pressure, and increase strength—all great reasons for you to jump into the water.
21.Which kind of exercise burns the most calories in an hour?
A.Running. B.Swimming.
C.Jumping rope. D.High Intensity Interval Training.
22.Who may also be interested in the third exercise?
A.Those who want to train their mind. B.Those who want to have good balance.
C.Those who want to control blood pressure. D.Those who want to do low-intensity activities.

With the arrival of winter, the world is covered in a sheet of shining snow, and it brings an invitation to take part in exciting snow sports. Beyond the great wonderland and the great joy of sliding down hills, attending winter sports offers many physical, mental, and social benefits.
Taking part in winter snow sports is an excellent way to stay physically active during the colder months. Whether you’re skiing down a mountainside, or skiing along peaceful paths, these activities provide a full-body workout. Downhill skiing, for example, is known as a way to burn a lot of calories, making it an effective cardiovascular (心血管的) exercise. Whether you’re hitting the hills with friends, joining a ski club, or taking a family snowboarding trip, these activities form a sense of friendship. Shared experiences on the mountain create lasting memories and strengthen social ties, developing a sense of belonging and connection.
The benefits of winter snow sports spread far beyond the excitement of downhill drops. Winter activities not only keep you physically fit but also benefit your mental well-being and provide chances for social communication.
Winter wonderland is waiting for you, promising a season full of joy, health, and unforgettable experiences. So, when the snow arrives, consider putting on your skis and enjoying the benefits winter sports bring to your body and mind.

Businesses are finding more uses for virtual reality (VR) as the technology develops.
VR is no longer only for gaming or enjoyment. An American company called Blue Goji is using VR to improve one’s health by making exercise more fun.
Blue Goji has offices in Austin, the capital of Texas. The company showed its workout machine called the Infinity treadmill (跑步机) at the South by Southwest festival. A person using the treadmill wears a virtual reality headset when exercising. Before starting, the user is connected to a belt to prevent falls. Then, the user plays a VR game while running on the machine. The game can transport the user into the virtual world, where he or she can be racing against virtual people.
The cost of the hardware and the computer software program is $12,000. That means much for most people. But Kyra Constam of Blue Goji says the virtual reality treadmill is ideal for places where people go to exercise, like high-end gyms or recreation centers.
Recently, Leonardo Mattiazzi tested the Infinity treadmill. Mattiazzi said he had a strong feeling to actually get running and do something that pushed his limits. He said the experience was more interesting than running inside the gym without actually going anywhere.
Constam noted that a lot of VR experiences cause motion sickness (晕动病) because people are in motion during the game, but not moving in real life. But when the user is moving on the treadmill and in the game, the chances of motion sickness are reduced. She said there is generally a learning curve for VR. The first time users feel lost, but the more you do it, the more you get used to it.
After carefully studying the users experiences, Blue Goji plans to begin selling the Infinity treadmill to the public.
28.What are users most likely to do after running on the Infinity treadmill?
A.Make more new friends. B.Gain more useful skills.
C.Be fonder of exercising. D.Prefer playing computer games.
29.What do we know about the Infinity treadmill?
A.Users can not run on it. B.It is too expensive for most people.
C.Users can race against anyone. D.It can be bought in high-end gyms.
30.How did Leonardo Mattiazzi feel about the Infinity treadmill?
A.Satisfied B.Disappointed.
C.Doubtful. D.Indifferent.
31.What is the main purpose of the text?
A.To promote a new company.
B.To call on people to take more exercise.
C.To introduce a new application of virtual reality.
D.To discuss the relationship between life and modern technology.

Tai chi, a traditional, slow-moving form of Chinese physical exercise, is known to increase flexibility and improve balance. New research has been conducted to determine whether tai chi has an influence on lowering blood pressure in people with prehypertension (高血压前期).
In the study, Chinese scientists put 342 adults with prehypertension into two groups. The average age of people taking part in the study was 49. About half the participants (参与者) took part in aerobic exercise, including jogging, climbing stairs and cycling. The other half was trained to practice tai chi. Both groups got hour-long exercises four times a week.
Nearly 22% of the people who practiced tai chi saw their blood pressure fall to be normal, compared with nearly 16% of people in the aerobic exercise group. And fewer patients in the tai chi group went on to develop high blood pressure than patients in the aerobic exercise group.
So what is it about tai chi that helps lower blood pressure? “The practice tends to get more of a response from the parasympathetic (副交感的) nervous system, which is the network of nerves that relaxes your body after periods of stress or danger,” says Ruth Taylor-Piliae, a professor at the University of Arizona’s College of Nursing.
“I think the beauty of tai chi is that you don’t have to have a special gym membership, you don’t have to have special clothing,” Taylor-Piliae says. “Once you learn tai chi, you can do it anytime and anyplace. And it does provide a calming and relaxing effect.”
Evidence suggests it can also help protect against cognitive fall and even improve memory. But you have to practice it continually to get the most benefit.
32.What is the function of paragraph 1?
A.To offer some examples. B.To explain a definition.
C.To introduce the topic. D.To give people suggestions.
33.What can we know about the participants in the study?
A.They were divided into two groups. B.They suffered from heart disease.
C.They were 49 years old. D.They got exercises five times a week.
34.What might Taylor-Piliae agree with about tai chi?
A.It can make people calm down.
B.It requires training and specialized equipment.
C.It has no influence on the parasympathetic nervous system.
D.It is suitable for individuals with aerobic exercise experience.
35.Which is the most suitable title for the text?
A.A Traditional Sport B.The Benefits of Aerobic Exercise
C.Exploring Chinese Physical Exercise D.Managing Blood Pressure with Tai Chi

Are you looking for a fun way to improve your fitness? Look no further than tennis! This fast-paced sport offers more than just a good time on the court. Here are a few reasons why you might want to pick up a racket (球拍) and start swinging.
Become more agile (敏捷的) and flexible. Tennis, as you may know, demands quick reactions, swift changes in direction and agile movements. 36 That’s why tennis players show a greater ability for flexibility and agility compared to people who lead a less active life.
37 Tennis is one of those sports that can get your heart pumping and blood flowing. A study performed by the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that sports with rackets, like tennis, can help lower their player’s risk of heart disease.
Strengthen your mental wellness and growth mindset. Tennis training encourages discipline and requires a person to be in what is known as a growth mindset. It can help improve your psychological resilience (适应力), which is the ability to thrive when being exposed to hardship. 38
Strengthen your overall strength. Have you ever noticed that tennis isn’t just about the arm movements? 39 The constant running, swinging and hitting the ball builds muscular strength and endurance. Because of this, tennis can make you physically as well as mentally strong.
Build social interaction. Some sports can be played or done on your own, such as swimming. Tennis is not one of them. 40 According to a report, the social interaction that happens while playing tennis with someone else is beneficial to mental wellbeing. Why? Because just being on the court with someone else can make you feel less alone.
A.Playing with a partner is a good chance to make friends.
B.These activities improve your overall coordination, balance and overall flexibility.
C.Who knew that hitting a ball could be so good for your heart?
D.Improve your heart’s health.
E.It can definitely be a useful skill in life.
F.It actually involves many muscle groups.

第二节 读后续写
67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
The New York Marathon (马拉松) is my goal for this year. I know I am never going to win a race but now, when I get anything negative, I will think of the kind gentleman who really believed, “You very good… you very fast.”
At the time, I was living in the Bay Area, and my mother had come to visit for a few days. On the last day of her stay, I was preparing to go out for a run. I picked up a T-shirt I just bought the other day from a Chinese clothing shop — it had some Chinese characters on the front, and a scene of Honolulu Chinatown on the back. I didn’t speak Chinese, but somehow this special T-shirt was quite soft and good for exercise.Working in a very negative environment, I found morning runs very beneficial — body tired but mind awake.
And I had always met an elderly Chinese gentleman walking on the opposite side of the trail (道路) when I was running on other mornings. I had always said, “Good morning,” and he had always smiled warmly and nodded his head slightly.
As I was going out the door, my mother suddenly said, “I don’t think running is so hot — that famous runner died.” I started to recount what I had read about Jim Fixx, and how running had probably been the contributing factor to his living far longer than most of the other members of his family, but I knew there was absolutely no point.
As I started running on my favorite trail, I found I couldn’t shake my mother’s statement. I was so discouraged that I could hardly run. I began thinking, “Why do I run at all? Serious runners probably think I look silly! I might have a heart attack on the trail — my dad had a fatal (致命的) heart attack at 50 years old, and he was seemingly in better shape than I am.”
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
My mother’s statement remained in my mind like a giant blanket.

W: Really? I’d love to.
4.C
【原文】M: Emily, you seem so good. Do you exercise a lot?

M: I know, I do need more exercise and work out regularly, but I can’t afford it because I’m too busy studying lately.
W: You need to relax. Linda is having a party this Saturday night. Why don’t you come with me? One weekend won’t matter. You’ve still got one month for the exam.

W: Hello, Greg. I’m Linda. I’m sixty years old and want to start exercising. I haven’t exercised in twenty years, and I’m afraid I may hurt myself.

W: That sounds great. I think I will enjoy that. But I don’t have any yoga clothes or sports shoes.

【原文】
We all know that exercise has many benefits. Mostly, we can tell by how much better we feel after exercise. And if we are overweight, exercising more usually helps with weight loss. Scientific research also supports this general understanding about exercise. Many studies are done on how different sports affect the human body. One recent study was done by the scientists of the American Cancer Society and Harvard University. It received information from people with 15 different types of cancer. Researchers found that there was lower risk for 7 of these 15 cancer types when people exercised. Also, the more they exercised, the lower their risk became. For example, men who exercised 7. 5 hours a week had an 8% less chance of getting colon cancer (结肠癌). And men who exercised 15 hours a week had a 14% lower risk. These results are not just numbers. Adults should get physical activity at recommended levels to lower the risk of cancer. Actually, scientists suggest that most adults can get enough exercise by walking 30 minutes a day at a rate of 3 miles per hour.

【导语】本文是一篇应用文,主要介绍的是可以获得很好的卡路里燃烧效果的几种锻炼。
21.细节理解题。根据Running部分的“An average person can burn anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories in one hour of running.(一个普通人在一个小时的跑步中可以燃烧500到1000卡路里)”,High Intensity Interval (高强度间歇运动) Training (HIIT)部分的“On average, a person will burn 400 to 600 calories in 30 minutes.(平均而言,一个人在30分钟内会燃烧400到600卡路里)”,Jumping rope部分的“Jumping rope can burn 600 to 1,000 calories in an hour.(跳绳一小时可以燃烧600到1000卡路里)”和Swimming部分的“In just 30 minutes of swimming, an average person can burn 200 to 300 calories.(在短短30分钟的游泳中,一个普通人可以燃烧200到300卡路)”可知,高强度间歇运动一小时燃烧的卡路里是800-1200卡路里,游泳一小时燃烧的卡路里是400到600卡路里,因此高强度间歇训练在一小时内消耗的卡路里最多。故选D。
22.细节理解题。根据Jumping rope部分的“Jumping rope is great for strengthening the lower and upper body while training your balance and coordination (协调能力), because your mind has to work while you jump.(跳绳在训练平衡性和协调性的同时,还能很好地加强下半身和上半身的力量,因为在跳绳的时候,你的大脑必须工作)”可知,那些想要平衡的人可能对第三个锻炼也感兴趣。故选B。
23.推理判断题。根据第一段“You probably consider calorie (卡路里) burning with training. You can get great calorie burning effects with the following exercises.(你可能会考虑通过训练来燃烧卡路里。你可以通过下面的练习获得很好的卡路里燃烧效果)”可知,本文主要介绍的是可以获得很好的卡路里燃烧效果的几种锻炼,因此目的是提供燃烧卡路里的方法。故选C。

67.One possible version:
My mother’s statement remained in my mind like a giant blanket. Gradually, my jog slowed to a walk. My body drained of energy and my mind felt extremely defeated. Just as I was going to turn around and head for home — feeling more discouraged than I could recall in years — I saw that elderly Chinese gentleman again. Seeing my shirt in the distance had prompted him to march towards me. With limited English he pointed to the letters and enthusiastically said, “You very good… you very fast.”
Upon hearing the man’s words, I felt more unexplained strength in my step. He cast his usual warm smile at me and gave me a thumb up as we passed each other. A surge of warmth across my whole body, I didn’t turn from the trail where my previous dark mood had intended. Thanks to that little boost, I continued for six more miles that day instead. I was not that fast, but was very good in my spirit and my heart. Luckily, the elderly gentleman saved me from the shadow of negative feedback.
