Help students find out the specific information of the editorial. 2. Guide students to use the given expressions to write a letter to express ideas. 教学难点: 1. Activate students’ mind to have deeper thinking about the reasons why the editor uses these details . 2. Strengthen students’ national pride and cultural confidence. 教学过程 Step 1. Lead-in: Review what was learned in previous lesson to feel the unit topic. (Aim: To help students be connected to the topic) Step 2. Topic introduction: Video watching & Brainstorm (Aim: arouse students’ learning passion) Question: What is an editorial? (Aim: To introduce the topic) Step 3. Pre-writing (Aim: To make students well-organized by analyzing the editorial, using a series of questions.) Activity 1. Personal work: read the editorial and try to find the answers to the following questions. 1. Which countries are mentioned and how do they celebrate Chinese Spring Festival? 2. Why do you think Chinese Spring Festival is “going global”? 3. Which event would you most like to attend? Why ? Activity 2. Discussion: more deeper relevant questions below. 1. Why are the percentage of Russian audience mentioned in the passage? 2. Why is Ghana chosen as an example of the countries that celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival? 3. Why do you think the Chinese Spring Festival has been made an official day’s holiday in New York City? Step 4. While-writing (Aim: To provide students with useful structure and expressions) Activity 3. Complete the notes 1. What the phenomenon is 2. What reason lies behind it 3.
