Nowadays, Plogging is becoming more and more popular in China. It refers to the act of picking up litter while jogging (慢跑). With a bag and a pair of gloves (手套), joggers beautify running roads while burning calories (卡路里). The practice helps people, especially the young, develop social responsibility.
Xu Jia, from Yinchuan, saw a poster for a “Plogging” activity in 2019 and decided to take part. Xu’s son, now runs to pick up litter whenever he sees any while he is outdoors. “My son cares for the environment. It is perhaps our biggest gain from joining in plogging,” Xu said. The boy was just 4 years old when he started plogging. Now, he is full of experience and often teaches other children how to do it.
“The environment in Yinchuan is improving, and there’s not much litter on the roadside. It’s great to see children picking up rubbish,” Xu said.
Pan Chuang, who works at a hospital, created a plogging group in the city. “Unlike professional running clubs, plogging doesn’t need too much speed and energy, so both children and the elderly can take part,” he said.
Pan is responsible for mapping out the running course. The route (路线) passes through several buildings with small shops that make a lot of rubbish. The group has hundreds of members, and the number is still increasing. “Plogging 2021” had over 25,880 members in 256 cities, who together collected tons of plastic rubbish.
“Each time I see a new face joining in the activity, I have a sense of satisfaction, and even more when children join alongside their parents,” Pan said. “Not only is it a challenge for them to run all the way, it also helps them care for the environment more. This is the greatest meaning of plogging.”

What do people do with their old, out of date but still useful computers? Most people don’t know how to deal with them. Many old computers are put away. Many more are simply thrown away as rubbish.
Finally, some companies are thinking of ways to bring down the number of old computers. Sony has agreed to help recycle old Sony products(产品). Dell, Hewlett Packard and other companies now also take back some old computers of their own brands.
In some countries, laws have been passed, too. Computer companies have to pay for collecting and recycling their used products. And 70% of the computer waste must be recycled. The idea behind the laws is that computer companies themselves should pay for the cost. That will encourage them to make computers which are easier and cheaper to repair and upgrade(升级).
Yet many people are throwing away good computers, while others cannot afford them at all. Hundreds of organizations are working on this problem. They collect and repair old computers. Some also teach others how to repair computers. These repaired computers then go to schools, charities(慈善团体) or people who need them. Giving a used computer to one of these organizations can turn one person’s rubbish into someone else’s useful things and cut down waste, too.

Scientists say that the earth is getting warmer and warmer. It's not good news at all. If the villagers in the earth village don't take any actions, the only home of us will be in danger. Study shows that "greenhouse effect" is the main cause of the climate change.
In fact, the green house is a good method to keep warm when the outside temperature is low. Thanks to the greenhouse, people can eat all kinds of vegetables all the year round. In a similar way, the air around the earth is like a huge blanket. It keeps the heat produced by the sun and prevents it from escaping. Several gases in the air are known as "greenhouse gases". And the way in which they keep heat in the atmosphere is called the "greenhouse effect". Without greenhouse gases, the earth would be 30 degrees colder and human life would disappear.
However, in the past 150 years, we have been pouring too many of these gases into the earth's atmosphere by burning too much coal and oil. The rapid increase in greenhouse gases is making the world warmer. The world's temperature has already gone up by half a degree this century, and the sea level has risen by 10 centimeters. If the amount (数量) of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere doubles (加倍), there will probably be a rise in the earth's temperature of between 1 and 4℃. This may seem a small increase, but it would be enough to cause great changes in geography and agriculture(农业). Large areas of the world be under water while some areas would become dry and unable to produce crops.
