Have you ever noticed the bumpy tıles(凹凸不平的地砖) on sidewalks and streets? They are tactile paving(盲道) which is designed to help blund people get around. By feeling the patterns with their feet or walking sticks, the blind can find their way more easily.
These bumps have different styles: some tell the blind that they can walk ahead safely, while others warn of a change ahead. They are often painted in bright colors like yellow or dark red to provide a color contrast(对比) between the road and the bumps. This is especially helpful for those who are only partly blind and might not use a walking stick.
You may wonder who had this great idea. In 1965, Japanese inventor Seuchi Miyake invented tactile surfaces for the blind. It wasn't until March 1967 that tactile paving was used on the streets of Okayama City, and from there, it quickly spread across Japan. Although tactile paving has been around since the1960s, it dIdn't make its way to the United States until the 1990s. In China, the first tactile paving was built in 1991 in BeIjing. Today, tactile pavıng is used worldwide.
Tactile paving plays a great role in blind people's daily lives. Unluckily, many people don't learn its importance. In many cities, tactile pavıng is often blocked (阻塞) by parked cars, bikes, or other objects, making it unusable.
We should work together to keep tactile paving clear and change the world for the better for the blind!
56. Why is tactule paving often painted in yellow or dark red?
A. To remember the inventor. B. To meet the tastes of most people.
C. To make it fit the roads around well. D. To help partly blind people see it more easily.
57. When was tactile paving first used in public?
A. In 1960. B. In 1965. C. In 1967. D. In 1991.

C. Why the US didn't use tactile paving earlier.
D. Why tactile paving is different in some countries.
59. What can we learn about tactile paving from the fourth paragraph?
A. There is not enough of it. B. It is not designed properly.
C. It is often blocked by objects. D. It is hardly used by blınd people.
60. What's the passage main about?
A. Useful inventions for the blind. B. Facts about tactile paving.

七、阅读表达 (共5 小题,计5分)
I was born with a physical dısabılıty. Three of my finger s on my left hand are very small. It is hard for me to hold things. In my first school, the kIds would laugh at me about my hand almost every day. I used to go home and tell my mom the situation and cry. My mom would meet with my teachers to try to solve it, but it didn't help. And I had no friends. I didn't want to go to school any more.
Then my mom's friend suggested a new school for us. It was smaller. At first I thought the kids might laugh at me. I would pull the sleeves(袖子) of my sweater down to hide my hand. It was hard but I tried my best. When I was upset, my teachers always asked,“ My boy, what's wrong? Can I talk to you?” They helped me express myself in words instead of going away
A few weeks later, I told the kids,“I’ ve been laughed at a lot” and I showed them my hand. They asked me what happened. I told them,“ was born this way.” They didn't laugh at me and made friends with me
I just wanted people to be kind to me and I wanted friends. I have that now. I study and play with them. When I'm having a bad day, they say,“ Keep your head up and don't give up.”I am happy that I came to the new school. I than k all the people for their kundness. Thanksgiving Day is a holiday in Canada and the United States. In Canada, Thanksgiving is on the second Monday in October, but in the US it is on the fourth Thursday in November. Thanksgiving began in the US in 1621. In 1620, more than 100 travelers from England crossed the Atlantic Ocean to live in a new world. The first winter in the new world was hard. Without food, half of them died. In the next spring, the Indians told them how to grow crops. In autumn, there was a great harvest. They were very thankful. So they wanted to celebrate the harvest. People in Canada began to celebrate it in the 1750s. On Thanksgiving Day, people have big meals and eat special food, like t urkey and pumpkin pies, together with their families. After dinner, they like playing games together. It's a day to show thanks and love.
