Possible version:
It wasn’t long before all my supporters, even Gary, began to turn against me. But I was still obsessed with my power and I even pictured what praise the principal would give me when I accomplished this mission. However, things started to go bad. When I ordered them to continue the fund-raising mission, they ignored my requests , doing things at their own will. Even Gary had a quarrel with me in public, which made me filled with anger. Not until I felt so embarrassed and depressed did I wake up to the fact that I had lost all my friends including Gary. Meanwhile, building the coffeehouse seems to be hopeless.
I finally realized what a stupid mistake I had made. I learned that only those who are humble and respect others would make it in the end. I was overcome by a wave of guilt and ran into Gary, working up the courage to make my apology . First astonished and then relieved with a warm smile, Gary gave me a hug finally, which meant he had forgiven me. With Gary's help, our team members are all back. Through everyone's joint efforts, we managed to raise all the funds and make our coffeehouse a reality.
Modesty helps one go forward,
whereas conceit makes one lag behind.
