Self-expression through artistic creation has treated value for those who are seeking deeper understanding of themselves. From my own personal experience, art and creativity has been one of the few things that I can use to adjust and describe my inner most feelings. It was invaluable to have a space where I could lose myself even for just a moment in the brushstrokes (笔触) or pencil lines of whatever I was creating. Growing up, it was one of the only spaces where I could actually express my own emotions. Now, even though art is my job, I still use it to quite my mind and express myself. According to the British Association of Art Therapists, art can be used as a mode of expression and communication. It is not necessary to have any prior experience in art because art is being used as a medium for curing and is not the main focus. Art therapy can treat people from all age groups, from children to the elderly. In addition, it can cure various psychological problems, including emotional or behavioral problems, learning or physical difficulties and so on. It is important to bear in mind that while current research does illustrate that art therapy improves mental health, these studies has a small number of people in them. Therefore, the conclusion cannot be considered definitive. More research is needed to find conclusive (确凿的) evidence of the impact of art therapy on mental health. 4. How does art influence the author? A. It greatly inspires creativity. B. It brings spiritual comfort. C. It enhances work efficiency. D. It improves life quality. 5. What can we know about art therapy according to paragraph 3? A. It can be widely applied to different generations. B. It mainly focuses on people’s emotional problems. C It can help people treat their organ problems. D. It works better for people with an artistic experience. 6. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about? A. Art therapy’s targeted subjects. B. Art therapy’s current experiment result. C. Art therapy’s practical value. D. Art therapy’s need for improvement. 7. Which can be a suitable title for the text? A. Art: A Wonderful Job Trend B. Exploring the World of Art. C. Art: A New Way of Treatment D. Spreading Art to People. C Twice a year for the last 29 years, scientists have walked through the same sections of tallgrass prairie (大草原) in Kansas and recorded as many species as they could find. The goal was to determine the impact of American bison (野牛) on the ecosystem. Tallgrass prairies used to cover a huge part of Texas. Today this habitat is at risk of disappearing, present in just four percent of its former range. Now, decades of efforts and data show a surprising result: When bison were allowed to seek food through prairie, they increased plant species richness by 86 percent. “The big effect bison had knocked us out, ”says Zak Ratajczak, an ecologist at Kansas State University. “I don’t think anyone would have prognosticated this ahead of time. ”252 earlier similar studies worldwide showed bison’s effects were relatively slight. As for reasons, Ratajczak has some theories. Bison tend to choose one area, eating everything up there, while leaving another area of the prairie untouched. They also go around forming disturbances in the soil, forming holes. These are areas where they roll around and shake off their winter coats, and that creates little spots of unique types of soil features. The spots harden and collect water after rain, for example, creating wetlands, which allow more plants to grow. By promoting different types of plant growth, scientists believe bison could help their ecosystems become more adaptable to droughts. Millions of bison lived in the US in the mid 1800s, before the government killed the population, reducing their numbers to a few hundred by 1889. The findings suggest ongoing efforts to reintroduce bison could have enormous and long-term benefits. “That is a relationship that was cut off,” says Jason Baldes, a member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe. “As we restore this connection, it favors bison. And bison, by their presence, boost our land.” 8. What was the purpose of scientists walking through the same sections of tall grass prairie in Kansas? A. To seek greater biodiversity. B. To record many species as they could find. C. To research the reason why this habitat is at risk. D To identify the influence of bison on the ecosystem. 9. What does the underlined word “prognosticated” mean in paragraph 2? A. Considered. B. Accepted. C. Predicted. D. Ignored. 10. How do bison promote plant species richness? A. By keeping away from prairies. B. By changing soil characteristics. C. By providing food and habits. D. By helping plants survive droughts. 11. What does Baldes think of the reintroduction of bison? A. It is a win-win situation. B. It should be done long ago. C. It has a long-lasting benefit. D. It requires efforts from many sides. D For using silk design to extend the shelf-lives (保质期) of main food like leafy greens and meat, and to improve crop seeding and growth, Benedetto Marelli is the winner of the first Bio Innovation Institute &Science Prize for Innovation. Marelli’s lab has produced a food security-enhancing technology from his silk-based materials. Sustainably feeding the world is an increasing challenge given factors like a rising population and climate change novel technologies will be crucial to maintaining food security. Even though the development of biomaterials like silk could do much to settle related crises in food availability, their applications in agricultural products have been largely overlooked. “The research focus of my lab aims to expand the current perception and scope of biomaterials by demonstrating how they can be engineered to combine with food and plants, to ultimately boost food security, ”said Marelli, associate professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In his early research, Marelli had considered the need to apply sustainable biomaterials technology to address decreasing food resources. In an experiment, Marelli left the strawberries in the lab for days. Upon returning a week later, he was surprised to find that the non-silk treated strawberries had spoiled while the coated, silk-treated ones had not. It gave him the vision to explore other links between sustainable materials and create new technologies to extend the food life cycle. Marelli subsequently co-founded the company Mori, which has developed a silk-based food preservation technology. Mori’s silk-based solution for foods creates an all-natural protective layer that doubles a product’s shelf life and reduces plastic use when shipping. “Mori’s technology may provide an important step in reducing the carbon footprint of our food system by reducing both food and packaging waste, ultimately translating to lower greenhouse gas emissions and a lower impact on natural resources, ”Marelli explained. 12. What do we know about Marelli from Paragraph 1? A He built a plant to make silk. B. He advocated eating safe food. C. He invented an eatable plant. D. He won a prize for his invention. 13. What is paragraph 3 mainly about? A. The review of previous/studies. B. The concerns of some scientists. C. The necessity of studying biomaterials. D. The applications of new materials. 14. What inspired Marelli to explore the silk-based technology? A. An academic conference. B. A food waste survey. C. An unexpected experimental discovery. D. A plant observation diary. 15. What is a major advantage of Mori’s silk-based solution for foods? A. High-quality. B. Eco-friendly. C. Affordable. D. Convenient. 第二节根据短文内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项 为多余选项。(共5小题;每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分) When you think of creativity, you might picture an artist at work on a big project. He went downstairs in a hurry and started to have his breakfast as quickly as possible. “Why are you in such a hurry, early bird?” Mum asked him. “We will have an English spelling test today, Mum,” Peter said. “Mr. White has promised to offer prizes to those who will get a score of 100. I’ve been studying the word list since last week. Although the words are difficult, I am well prepared for them.” Peter reviewed the spelling of each word once more carefully when Dad drove him to school. At last, it was time for the students to have a test. “Responsibility,” Mr. White started. Peter wrote it on his test paper quickly and confidently. “The second word: contribution,” Mr. White said. “So easy,” Peter thought. He quickly wrote the word down. Thirty words later, the test papers were collected by Mr. White. “I will mark your papers now,” he told the class. After marking the test papers. Mr. White said, “Three of you won a prize today. Peter, David and Marty got full marks on the spelling test!” Mr. White gave the three students each a dictionary. Peter’s was an English-Chinese dictionary — the one he liked best. Peter was so excited that he held it up high when his classmates cheered. “This is my happiest moment,” Peter thought. After Mr. White gave the test paper back, Peter had a look at the words, feeling proud of his spelling. All of a sudden, the word “contribusion” confused him. It didn’t seem right. Peter began to compare them after taking out the word list. “C-O-N-T-R-I-B-U-S-I-O-N,” he whispered. He spelled it wrong. “What am I to do? ”Peter said to himself. “If I tell Mr. White one of my spelling words is wrong, I’ll have to give my prize back.” Staring at the full marks written on his test paper, Peter was lost in thought. After a while, he remembered a lesson Mum used to teach him, “We ought to be an honest person.” 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 Slowly, Peter raised his hand. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The class burst into applause. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 石嘴山市2025届高三年级教学质量检测 英语试卷 (满分150分, 考试时间120分钟) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? Self-expression through artistic creation has treated value for those who are seeking deeper understanding of themselves. From my own personal experience art and creativity has been one of the few things that I can use to adjust and describe my inner most feelings. C. It can help people treat their organ problems. 【答案】4. B 5. A 6. D 7. D. To identify the influence of bison on the ecosystem. 【答案】8. D 9. C 10. B 11. A. He built a plant to make silk. 15. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Slowly, Peter raised his hand. “Mr. White, I didn’t get full marks on the test. I made a mistake.” He stood up and handed his teacher the dictionary he liked best and his test paper, “I spelled contribution with s-i instead of t-i.” Peter could feel his classmates looking at him with surprise as he walked back to his desk. Mr. White held up Peter’s test paper. “Class,” he said, “Peter did something ever more important than spelling every word correctly on a test.” Mr. White smiled at Peter, “He taught us all a lesson on being honest.” The class burst into applause. They stared at him with respect. At that moment, Mr. White said. “Peter, I want you to have this dictionary because you set a good example for all of us. You did very well in the test by being an honest person”. Peter took the dictionary from his teacher and expressed his thanks to Mr. White. Meanwhile, he couldn’t wait to show it to Mum and tell her one of his best days ever. 词汇激活: 行为类: ①站起来:stand up/rise to one’s feet ②递:hand/give/pass ③感受到:feel/sense ④盯着:stare at/gaze at 情绪类: ①惊讶:surprise/astonishment ②尊重:respect/admiration ③诚实的:honest/truthful 【点睛】[高分句型1] Peter could feel his classmates looking at him with surprise as he walked back to his desk.
