Passage 1
(24-25高一上·山东·阶段练习)The kids in Ms. Ryder’s art group all gathered round. “Our school’s welcome sign looks old and faded,” Ms Ryder pointed up at the old wall painting. “It’s our turn to do something new and bright. Let’s collect some ideas.”
The children started to think. “Let’s just make a new welcome sign in bright colors,” Ella beamed. Ms Ryder smiled, “Nice idea, but I was thinking that we could paint a big picture about all our children, something a bit more special.”
“A giant heart with all our names on it, ”Sara said. “Sports,” Tiger joined in. “We do lots of sports; let’s have a big picture with all kinds of sports.” “The Earth, with people all over it.” Mattie was thoughtful. But then Eliza joined in, “It’s a puzzle. How can we all join in and paint a picture. We’ve all got different ideas.”
Ms. Ryder smiled. “That’s it! We all have different ideas, but we all fit in together and want to paint a big picture. Let’s paint a big puzzle in the brightest colors!”
The next day, they set to work. They were ready to paint the giant jigsaw(拼图) puzzle. The puzzle was very big with lots of pieces, all the pieces fitted together, but there was space all around.
“For our names?”Carlos asked. “What a good idea, Carlos, for all our names, and for all the children in our school.” Ms. Ryder was having fun. Eliza smiled,“We all want our different kids in our puzzle. Red, blue and green; that’s not enough.”
Ms. Ryder agreed and the children learned to mix as many colors as the numbers of the kids at school. Red, blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, brown. They learnt new colors, too-Apple Green, Sapphire Blue, Canary Yellow, Crimson Red. The children wanted as many colors as possible in their new picture. Passage 2
(24-25高一上·辽宁·阶段练习)When I was in junior high school, math was my greatest challenge. No matter how hard I tried, I always seemed to fall short. My test scores were often disappointing, and I felt my teenage life was full of confusion and frustration(挫败). However, everything changed, thanks to the great support of my teacher, Mr Green, and my classmates.
One day, after another poor test result, I stayed behind after class, feeling defeated. Mr Green noticed my sadness and came to me with a smile. “Don’t worry, Jack,” he said softly. “Everyone may find something difficult. The important thing is not to give up. Let’s work on this together.”
Mr Green started explaining each concept(概念) more patiently, breaking it down into simpler parts. He used real-life examples to make ideas easy to understand. Every time after class, he would come to my seat and ask me if I understood the lesson. His devotion and encouragement helped me a lot, and slowly, I began to see improvement.
My classmates also played a role in my progress. My best friend, Mike, was good at math. He offered to study with me during breaks. We would sit in the library, going over problems. He told me to face my mistakes bravely, and his positive attitude influenced me.
I would never forget the week before our final exams. I was struggling with a math problem. Despite Mr Green’s and Mike’s help, I couldn’t solve it. One afternoon, Mike suggested we turn it into a game. He created a set of flashcards(抽认卡) with different solutions. We took turns drawing cards and solving the problem as quickly as possible. Most importantly, we found joy in it. Of course, I made great progress in math.
The day of the final exam arrived. I took a deep breath and remembered all the hard work and support I had received. When the result was announced, I could hardly believe my eyes: I had scored the highest mark in my class in math. Later, we formed a group and invited more students to learn math together.

Passage 3
(24-25高一上·湖北·开学考试)I was standing with Dad in Grandpa’s yard, and this was our last visit here, because Grandpa was moving in with us. We would have one week to get his house cleared out.
We stepped into the house, overwhelmed with the huge piles of papers on the table. I volunteered that I could take the old heavy shredder(碎纸机) from our house to deal with them. I could take it apart and put it back together. “What? No!” Dad snapped(厉声说). Then he sighed, and I knew the exact three words he was going to say next. “Michael, be realistic.” Then he lectured about how unrealistic my idea was as his eyes traveled wearily(疲倦地) over the papers piled on the table.
I shrugged(耸肩),walked over and poked through the piles. “Hey, what’s this?” I pulled out an old photograph of my dad as a kid. He was standing under the apple tree in the yard, spraying(喷) water from a water pipe at whoever was holding the camera, with a big, playful smile on his face. He looked like a different person.
I glanced over at him. He was examining an old income tax statement with a frown(皱眉). I wondered if something strange had happened to him. Like maybe the carefree boy in the picture and some bookish boy down the street had decided to switch lives or something. If only there were a time capsule or a memory box that held more of Dad’s boyhood stuff. Okay, no. That was not realistic.
“Michael,” Dad said. “Why don’t you start cleaning out the shed(棚屋)?”I happily agreed.
But when I went in, I was shocked. How was I supposed to “clean it out”? It was filled with junk, a broken lawnmower here and a million cans of old paint there. Suddenly I noticed a little triangle of plastic sticking out from the bottom of the paint cans. Curious, I pulled it out carefully. It was a sandwich bag with a piece of folded paper inside. Maybe it was a treasure map, or the answer to some long-unsolved murder. I chuckled(轻声地笑)over my own unrealistic fancies.

Passage 4
(24-25高一上·河南·阶段练习)The first time I attended my son’s parent-teacher meeting was in third grade. I was rushing from the seafood market, and my clothes were dirty because of fish and other sea food. Even though I took a taxi, I still arrived late. I was laughed at by some parents and kids for my poor look. I met some uncomfortable looks, and with a sense of sadness and pity, I walked to his seat. My son, on the other hand, cleaned the sweat(汗水) from my forehead and handed me his little water bottle, saying, “Mummy, have some water!” In a flash, his thoughtfulness impressed so many people.
After the parent-teacher meeting, my son’s teacher asked me to stay back a while longer, but he explained why I had to leave early. “My mother has to go home to cook for my grandparents, so can she leave first? I’ll tell her everything you have to say when I come home, and I promise I won’t miss a word!”
The teacher said, “There are more than 40 children in the class, and your son Han Liu is heartbreaking to me; he is so understanding and helpful. Can a child like this not be successful in the future? You must be a great example in your family.” I shook the teacher’s hand and held it as I explained. “Han Liu’s father was hit in a car accident, and both of his grandparents are on the bed all year round, so I can’t take care of Han Liu at all. Since he could walk, he has been caring for his grandpa, grandma and father.” The teacher was so amazed.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

Passage 5
(24-25高一上·河南许昌·阶段练习)Ari lived on a big island called Iceland. His home was a small fishing village by the sea. Spending a lot of time alone in his little house, Ari often looked at the faraway view and wondered what was out there.
One day, Ari thought, "I want to find a true friend far away from here." So, he decided to write a letter, hoping to find a friend who understood his feelings.
Ari wrote about the volcanoes(火山) and glaciers(冰川) on his snowy island. He described the beautiful Northern Lights that painted the sky with colors like green, blue and pink at night. For many days, Ari wrote about his thoughts and feelings. Then, he put the letter in a bottle and closed it really well.
When the water was high, Ari threw the bottle into the sea and wished on a bright star that someone would find his letter.
A year passed, and many cold nights went by after Ari threw his message into the sea. One day, he got a letter in the mail. He didn't know who it was from, but he was very happy and quickly opened the envelope (信封).
The letter said:
Dear Ari,
I found your letter in a bottle that washed up on my beach. I live on an island called Sardinia. My island is warm and has mountains, white beaches, and green waters, though sometimes there are storms. I also want a true friend. I hope we can write to each other and learn more about our lives.
Your new friend,
Marco
For three years, Ari and Marco wrote letters to each other. They talked about their cultures, traditions, and favorite foods. They shared secrets about their villages and wrote about their festivals and music. Marco's letters made Ari feel less lonely. Ari knew he had found his best friend.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;

Passage 6
(23-24高一上·安徽阜阳·期末)It is a challenging journey to change their lives for the best and get the healthiest they knew how to. Lexi and Danny lived their lives like most other young couples who fell in love with each other and then made the decision to spend the rest of their lives together. The couple spent a lot of time watching TV and going to different restaurants, and as you would imagine, the endless junk foods were their “go-to” choice. Though they would manage to lose some weight during the time, but before long, they would gain it back.
Lexi weighed a 485 pounds at the age of 25, a weight that was quite unbelievable to imagine. Danny, on the other hand, was also overweight himself even though he was 200 pounds less than Lexi. However, the sad part of everything was that they were both gaining more weight on what they already had with each passing day. Some of their daily activities, no matter how simple, became a real problem for the couple. They couldn’t go for walks or bicycle rides no matter how easy they were. However, in 2016 just after a year after the marriage, they decided to make a positive change in their life.
The couple decided to take on a challenge that would change their lives forever and for good! So many people make promises to themselves and others that they don’t really carry out but the couple were not about to do like the others. Theirs were destined (注定的) to come to reality. They made a detailed plan to go on a diet and take exercise on a daily basis. At first, they thought the whole process would have been a piece of cake. As they pressed on, each passing day showed them that this challenge would not be a walk in the park. They got a gym membership to help out.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
The weight-losing lessons offered at the gym were not easy, a real challenge for them.

Dear Eric,
Glad to hear from you. I understand that quit well that you are upset.
I recommend that you talk to your parents about your anxiety. It is better to be straightforward and honest than to repress your feelings and keep them inside. Most parents don’t listen to what their kids have got to say about matters because they fail to see that their child is growing up and is becoming more mature. Probably the best way to tackle this is to keep calm. No matter how angry they are, they are still your parents and you should be polite to them.

【答案】
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, it’s my honor to be here to talk about short-sightedness.
As we all know, an increasing number of students are short-sighted, which has become a nationwide concern. There are many factors contributing to your short-sightedness, like reading in a poor-lighted environment, spending too much time on your screen. Then, how to protect your eyes? First, I suggest you should have an eye test every year. If you are already short-sighted, wearing glasses is the safest way to protect your eyes from further injuries. Besides, you’d better eat more eggs, carrots and dark-green leafy vegetables, which are good for our eyes. What’s more, get enough sleep to ensure your eyes can get a good rest. Don’t focus on your computer screen for a long time. Take frequent breaks to give your eyes a rest.

【答案】One possible version:
We studied hard towards the senior high school entrance examination. We held some activities, where we exchanged tips for learning math, and we deepened our friendship as well. Finally, most of us did well in math in the senior high school entrance examination. The experiences and friendships I gained during that time were invaluable, shaping my confidence and enthusiasm for learning. I was admitted to a good senior high school as expected, and I couldn’t wait to welcome the new campus life.
As I walked into my senior high school on the first day, I met Mike. Our eyes widened in surprise. Almost at the same time, we said, “Hi, we are schoolmates again.” We were proud and determined. We would continue to work together in the same school, ready to face new challenges and achieve greater heights. My experience in junior high school had taught me an invaluable lesson: Perseverance and support could turn even challenges into opportunities for growth. Senior high school was my new start, and I was ready to make the most of it.

【答案】A possible sample 1
Paragraph 1: It turned out to be a letter addressed to future people from my dad as a kid. As I unfolded the fragile paper, I saw the messy handwriting of a child. The letter began, “To whoever finds this, I hope you love this place as much as I do. My name is Tom, and this is my grandpa’s house. I love playing under the apple tree and building forts in the shed. If you’re reading this, I hope you’re having fun too. I bet you never knew how fast you could run in this yard!” I smiled, imagining my dad as a young boy, carefree and full of energy, scribbling down these words in a moment of joy. The letter ended with, “Take care of this house. It’s full of secrets and memories. And remember to keep smiling, just like I did.”
Paragraph 2: Amazed by the letter, I raced to Dad in the house. Holding the yellowed paper carefully, I burst into the room where Dad was still sorting through piles of documents. “Dad, you have to see this!” I exclaimed, handing him the letter. He looked at me with a mix of curiosity and surprise, then unfolded the note. As he read it, I watched his expression change. The frown on his face softened, and a faint smile appeared. For a moment, he seemed to be transported back to his childhood, reconnecting with the boy he once was. “I can’t believe I wrote this,” he murmured, more to himself than to me. Then, with a new lightness in his voice, he said, “You know, Michael, maybe we should take a break and go sit under that apple tree.” And just like that, the distant, serious man I knew felt a little closer, a little more like the boy in the photograph.
A possible sample 2
Paragraph 1: It turned out to be a letter addressed to future people from my dad as a kid. Dad told the future people that they had no flying cars nor household robots, so they had to do everything themselves. I grinned as I scanned through the funny letter. My jaw almost dropped when he said he dreamed of a vacation on Mars. That was not realistic at all, boy, I laughed to myself, eyes still fixed on the letter. “I made you a time capsule. Tell your robot to dig under the apple tree in the yard.” He told the future people at the end of the letter.
Paragraph 2: Amazed by the letter, I raced to Dad in the house. The poor man was still occupied with sorting out Grandpa’s papers. I dropped the letter on the table and joked, “Why don’t you just have your robot go through the papers? And how could people vacation on Mars? That was unrealistic. I mean...” I was laughing so hard that I could barely talk. Dad looked utterly bewildered (困惑不解的).Then he read the letter, shook his head in disbelief and finally burst out laughing. “Come on, let’s dig out the time capsule under the tree.” He strode (大步走) out to the yard. Suddenly I saw it! The boy with the water pipe.
A possible sample 3
Paragraph 1: It turned out to be a letter addressed to future people from my dad as a kid. The handwriting was shaky, with misspelled words here and there, but the message was clear. “Dear Future Me,” it began, “I hope you still like climbing trees and playing in the rain. I bet you’re still having fun with your friends and building cool stuff. Maybe you even have a spaceship by now! Don’t ever stop dreaming big, okay? The world is full of adventures waiting for you.” As I read the letter, I could almost hear my dad’s younger voice, full of hope and excitement for the future. It was a far cry from the serious, practical man who stood frowning over the tax forms in the other room. I couldn’t help but smile at the thought of Dad as a kid, filled with so much wonder and imagination.
Paragraph 2: Amazed by the letter, I raced to Dad in the house. “Dad, you have to see this!” I called out excitedly. He looked up from the pile of papers, a bit annoyed at first, but when he saw what I was holding, his expression softened. He took the letter from me, and as he read it, a slow smile spread across his face. “I can’t believe I wrote this,” he murmured, almost to himself. For a moment, he seemed lost in thought, his mind clearly drifting back to his childhood. Then he looked at me, his eyes filled with a warmth I hadn’t seen in a long time. “You know, Michael,” he said, “maybe we should keep that old shredder after all. It might just come in handy for more than paperwork.” We both laughed, and in that moment, I felt closer to him than I had in years.

But the little boy grew little by little, And he really tried his best to help me, Those warm moments of the little boy cleaning our house and so on crossed in my mind. Suddenly all my complaints about life and pity for myself disappeared. I realized life had presented me with so many misfortunes, but it also gave me my dear son.
I was waiting downstairs for my son to come home from school with a clean look. When he saw me, his mouth opened into an O-shape and said, “Mum, are you going on a date?” I answered, “I’m not going on a date! No matter how dirty and tiring my work may be, I still have to present myself nicely and not lose the respect of others for you. So how does your mum look since I’ve cleaned up?” He immediately jumped up and said, “Wonderful! When I grow up, I will find a wife like my mum.” At that moment. I wanted to hug him. Although he was small and very thin, he was already a handsome young man in my heart.

Paragraph 1:
The weight-losing lessons offered at the gym were not easy, a real challenge for them. At first, no matter what efforts they made, they couldn’t keep at the pace of the other people in the class, because of their huge weight. Especially for Lexi, she was unable to get through with the lessons. However, the encouragement and support from their friends and family led them to keep up. They worked as a team, supporting each other, so none of them would fail. They kept up on the journey to lose weight.
Paragraph 2:
Just after a month, they both felt so much better, and they were pleased with the way they looked. Of course, this new feeling gave them a lot of confidence to keep pushing to achieve the final goal they were working for. Before long, their efforts began to pay off. Lexi was dropping about 20 pounds and Danny 11 pounds per month. Now the couple both have a good shape and enjoy a happy life. To keep up the gain, they are still taking exercise every day, however busy they are. Importantly, they keep off junk foods.
