Hi, I'm Mike. I work as a writer for GROWING UP. I hope I can help you with your problems.
Dear Mike,
I'm not very good at giving advice to other people. A friend of mine recently bought some Nike trainers online, but they were fake(假的). Everyone except him can tell that they're fake. I don't know how to bring this up with him. Can you give me some advice?
-Joseph
Dear Joseph,
A long time ago, a friend of mine told me what he liked most about me. It was that I always ‘kept it real’. Do you know the meaning of it? It means being honest and open, even when your thought is unpopular.
I suggest that you keep it real with your friend. If no one else is brave enough to tell him. about his shoes, then maybe you should be the one to do it. You don't have to do it in a mean.(刻薄的) way. Just go to your friend secretly and bring it up. Your friend will thank you because you are honest.
On the other hand, who really cares if the shoes are fake? Is it really that big of a deal? Maybe you should just forget about it. If other people are making fun of him for having fake shoes, they really have a problem.
Mike

Another child named Sun Kang who lived during the same period also loved reading. One night during winter, Sun used up all of his lamp. oil and couldn't study at night. Thanks to technology, the way we communicate with others has greatly changed. How do you feel about it? Would you prefer to live in a world with or without mobile phones?
I ordered some snacks on my phone the other afternoon. Once I got home from work that evening, I saw they were already at my door. So fast! Have you ever thought about how people in the past communicated and did things without mobile phones? Take the post for example. Before phones, if you wanted to keep in touch with someone far away, you needed to send them a letter in the mail. When my mom was in primary school, she used to do this with her “pen pal”. A pen pal is a name for a person you keep in touch with mainly through postal mail. My mom would write to her pen pal every few months, and then, after a little while, her pen pal would write back. Later, once email became a common thing, sending letters in the post felt so slow to people. It became known as “snail mail”!
What if you were at an airport in the time before mobile phones? My dad said that in the1970s there used to be message boards at some airports. If you needed to exit(离开) the airport and wanted to leave a message for a friend who would be arriving later, you could write them a message and stick it on the message board. Then, your friend could go check the board later and see what you wrote to them!
52. How did the writer's mom keep in touch with her pen pal?
A. By talking on phones. B. By mailing letters.
C. By visiting every few months. D. By writing diaries.
53. Why does the writer use “snail mail” in Paragraph 2?
A. To make fun' of people still sending letters. B. To say that postal mail was famous.
C. To say that email was a common thing. D. To say that postal mail was very slow.
54. Where could people leave messages at some airports in the 1970s?
A. On the message boards. B. At the information desk.
C. On the door of the exit. D. On the boarding gate of the plane.
55. What is the story mainly about?
A. How fast it is to buy things nowadays. B: How people kept in touch before.
C. The importance of communication. D. Ways of making friends in the past.
D
Later that year, in the autumn, the Indians took down their teepees and got ready to go hunting. White Fang decided not to go with them. He went into the woods, running along a stream to hide his trail. Then he went into the middle of a thick group of trees and waited. After a time, he heard Gray Beaver's voice calling him and the voices of his wife and Mit- sah, his son.
During the night, White Fang started to feel lonely, he missed the camp and its noise. The silence of the wild was new to him again. It was cold, there was no food, and he began to feel frightened. In the morning, he felt less frightened, but more lonely. He started to follow the river bank. He went through mountains, over rocks, in the river itself. He ran on, though he was tired and hungry. After thirty hours he was still running. Then White Fang suddenly found a fresh trail, and he knew what it was. He followed it and the camp songs came to his ears. He saw a fire and Kloo- kooch, Gray Beaver's wife, was cooking. Gray Beaver was sitting by the fire.
White Fang expected a beating. He crawled slowly closer until he lay at Gray Beaver's feet, he waited for the hand to hit him. But Gray Beaver cut some meat for him. Then he guarded White Fang from the other dogs while he ate it. After that, grateful and happy, he lay at Gray Beaver's feet, looking at the fire that warmed him. White Fang was no longer alone in the silent forests, but in the camp, with his gods, he was now theirs and he depended on them.

Some people are very forgetful, while others can remember everything they have done. Scientists know a lot about how our brains store and remember facts and experiences. 61 . A new study looks at forgetting. A team of researchers from the U. S. studied the brain's process of forgetting things. She said, “ 65 ” Removing information is important because it means we can focus on more important tasks. However, although we can control what and how we forget, the act of forgetting needs a lot of effort. Another researcher, Sara. Festini, agreed. She said, “We've found that intentionally forgetting no- longer- relevant information from the mind is beneficial, but it doesn't happen automatically.'.

How to Deal with Our Study Problems
We students always have a lot of problems with our schoolwork. Although we often feel stressed, we should find suitable ways to deal with it. For example, we can do some sports or listen to music. We should be careful enough because a small mistake can lead to a big error. Also, we should balance our schoolwork and hobbies. Never lose confidence because it is the key to success. When we have problems, we can ask teachers or classmates for help and try to find solutions together.
