I’ll always remember the first time I tried ballet. My mother was a dancer and I wanted nothing more than to be like her, but after making mistakes during my first class, I felt like I wanted to give up right away. As it was only my first day, however, I told my mom I couldn’t wait to dance again.
Weeks passed and my dancing didn’t get any better. Then my dance teacher told us that we were going to perform in a show. I was scared of losing face and making my mom upset.
Even though I practiced hard for the show, I never quite got the hang of it. Finally, I went to my mom to tell her how I felt. She simply laughed and told me she would teach me all she knew about ballet.
My mom quickly discovered how bad at ballet I was, but she still taught me again and again without feeling angry or upset. She said it is very common to make some mistakes when a person started something new. What’s more, she always tried to cheer me up. When I jumped and fell, she was there to catch me. When I lost my balance, she held me up. By the time the show arrived, I was as prepared as I could be.
The music began and my heart started to race. Breathing calmly, I began moving to the music without missing a step. When the music stopped, I ran off the stage and laughed in excitement.
My mom gave me a huge hug, telling me how proud she was. I told her that there was no way this could have happened without her. Through this, I realized that my mom will always be there to catch me if I fall.

Have you ever had a question in your mind about why we Chinese people use chopsticks? And till now? Or any other tools?
Chopsticks are kitchen and eating tools. They have been used all over East Asia for over 2,000 years. They were first invented and used by the Chinese during the Zhou Dynasty (周朝). Chopsticks later spread to other countries across East, South and Southeast Asia. They are usually made of bamboo or wood. But at first, chopsticks are not used as eating tools. They were probably used for cooking such as stirring (搅拌) the fire. Then people found it was convenient to eat by using chopsticks. Then chopsticks began to be used as eating tools during the Han Dynasty.
Why not use forks and knives? In our mind, forks and knives are made of metal (金属). They are more similar to weapons. How could dangerous weapons be used on the eating tables? And can you imagine how terrible it is to use forks and knives while we are taking food out of the hot pot? Then chopsticks perfectly solve this problem.
What’s more, we believe in the idea of being simple. With the two sticks, we can do many things. Also, chopsticks contain (包含) the principle (理念) of “Yin and Yang”. Besides, if you take a close look at the chopsticks, you will find the chopsticks are round on one side and square on the other side. So the round side means the sky and the square side means the earth. And when we hold chopsticks, our fingers are between the two sticks. That’s our understanding of the relationship between man and the world.
26. Why does the writer ask questions at the beginning of the text?
A. To introduce the topic of the text.
B. To show the importance of chopsticks.
C. To describe the influence of chopsticks.
D. To predict the future of chopsticks.
27. Which question’s answer can’t be found in Paragraph 2?
A. When were chopsticks invented? B. Why are we still using chopsticks?
C. What are chopsticks made of? D. What were chopsticks first used for?
28. Which of the following may be a kind of “weapons”?
A. Fire. B. Umbrellas. C. Chopsticks. D. Guns.
29. What does the writer mainly want to show in the last paragraph?
A. People use chopsticks to connect man and the world.
B. Chopsticks are the perfect eating tools.
C. Chopsticks contain much Chinese culture.
D. The two sides of the chopsticks mean the earth and the sky.

We all know running is good for our health. Have you ever thought that running is also good for the planet? Sometimes a creative mind can bring us a win-win situation.
Plogging is becoming increasingly popular in Sweden (瑞典). Have you ever heard plogging? It is an act of picking up rubbish while jogging, running slowly for a long time. A Swedish man called Eric Ahlstrom started the movement (运动). Eric noticed a lot of rubbish when he rode to work each day. So, he decided to do something about it. In 2016, Eric began organizing groups to pick up rubbish while jogging, and thus “plogging” was born. Plogging is considered a perfect activity, as it is good both for the body, and for the environment.
Plogging is a movement that anyone can join. To get started, choose plogging route (路线) that you know is safe but with lots of rubbish. Do not forget to bring your recyclable (可循环使用的) rubbish bags and gloves. You can jog alone or in groups. You can do it early in the morning, or a bit before going to work, or even in the late afternoon. If you’re not much of a jogger, that’s okay! You can take a walk. Anything that suits you! It really does not matter whether you take a 2-mile jog or a 5-mile marathon, or just a 15-mimute morning walk. The idea with plogging is that you do some physical exercise while helping to pick up rubbish!
Every day, about 2 million people plog in over 100 countries. If you have a pair of gloves, a rubbish bag, and enjoy being outside, plogging may be right for you!
