Unit 5  Fun Clubs

第一课时  Section A(1a—1d)

教学目标

1.重点单词:club,join,choose,drama,feeling

2.重点短语:play Chinese chess

3.重点句型:

—Hello! I want to join ...

—Great! Can you ...?

—Yes, I can./No, I can’t.

重点：能够说出学校里常见社团的英文名称，谈论不同社团的常见活动。

难点：理解can表达能力的不同句式，并在口语对话中模仿使用相关句型展开交流。

教学过程

Step 1  Lead-in

(1)Ask the Ss to look at the picture on Page 51 and the questions：

What are the students in the photo doing?

What club do you think they are in?

Do you want to join this club?

(2)Ask some Ss to share their answers.

(3)Ask the Ss to answer the question：What other clubs do you know?

(4)Guide the Ss to learn about some other clubs,such as art club,science club,drama club,music club,chess club and ping­pong club.

Step 2  Work on 1a

1a  Match the pictures with the clubs.

(1)look at the six pictures carefully and talk about what are they doing.

(2)Learn the phrases below the pictures.

(3)Match the pictures with the clubs. Then check the answers with students.

Step 3  Listening

1b  Listen to the conversations. Which club does each student want to join?

(1)Ask students to listen to the conversations and find out the clubs they talked about in the tape.

(2)Check the answers in class.

Answers:

1c  Listen again and complete the sentences with can or can’t.

Play the tape again and let the students listen carefully.

Then ask them to fill in the blanks with can or can’t according to the tape. Teacher checks the answers with students.

Step 4  Group work

1d  Role-play a conversation between a club leader and a student.

(1)Show a sample conversation with the following sentences. Let students talk about their favourite clubs and explain why. Then ask students to make their own conversations.

For example:

—Hello! I want to join the music club.

—Great! Can you sing a song?

—Yes, I can.

—We meet at 5:30 every Friday. Can you come?

—Sure. But can I ...?

...

(2)Let some students role-play their conversations in front of the class.

第二课时  Section A(Pronunciation 1—2f)

教学目标

1.重点单词:news,musical,exactly,ability,paint

2.重点短语:musical instrument

3.重点句型:

(1)What club do you want to join?

(2)I can’t play any musical instruments.

(3)How about Ella?

(4)—She can play the violin, right?

—Yes, she can.

重点：(1)能够听辨并准确认读三对爆破辅音音素/p/与/b/、/t/与/d/、/k/与/g/和一对摩擦辅音音素/f/与/v/。

(2)谈论不同俱乐部里人们做的事情。

难点：(1)能够准确读出含有上述辅音音素的常见单词。

(2)熟练地与同学谈论自己或他人的能力，及想加入什么俱乐部。

教学过程

Step 1  Warming up

(1)Let the Ss read the words in the table on Page 53.Then ask them to answer the question：Which pronunciation does each group of words contain?

(2)Let the Ss pronounce the pronunciation of /p/,/b/,/t/,/d/,/k/,/g/,/f/ and /v/.

Step 2  Pronunciation

1  Listen and repeat.

(1)Explain the key points of the pronunciation of /p/,/b/,/t/,/d/,/k/,/g/,/f/ and /v/.

(2)Ask the Ss to listen to the tape and repeat.

(3)Ask the Ss to read the words together again.

2  Listen and repeat. Notice how the letters in brackets are pronounced.

(1)Ask the Ss to listen and repeat.Tell them to notice how the letters in brackets are pronounced.

(2)Explain the incomplete plosion.

Step 3  Listening

2a  Listen to the conversation and fill in the blanks.

(1)Let students read the conversation first.

(2)Tell students to listen to the conversation and fill in the blanks with the sentences they hear in the tape. Then check the answers together.

(3)Let students read the complete conversation.

Step 3  Work on 2b

2b  Read the conversation and complete the table.

(1)Ask students to read the conversation in 2a again.

(2)Let them complete the table according to the conversation. Then check the answers together.

Step 4  Group work 1

2c  Listen to the conversation again and pay attention to the letters that are silent. Then role-play the conversation.

(3)Then ask some groups to come in the front and role-play their conversations in
