The Laba Festival is a day of thanks for a good harvest. On this day, people usually eat Laba porridge, a porridge with eight kinds of mixed grains (谷物). While in the past, it was used to let people remember to pay back the money they had borrowed, as Laba is near the end of the year and in Chinese garlic sounds the same as “calculate”(算).

A.was drinking; hadn’t met B.drank; haven’t met
C.was drinking; haven’t met D.drank; didn’t meet
【答案】A
故选A。
2.The robbers ________ when the police ________. They got caught right on the spot.
A.were about to leave; came B.were going to leave; had come
C.had gone; came D.would leave; had come
【答案】A
根据“They got caught right on the spot.” 可知,were about to leave; came符合句意。故选A。
3.—You aren’t a student now, are you?
—________, don’t you remember ________ me in the classroom ten minutes ago?
A.No; seeing B.Yes; seeing C.No; to see D.Yes; to see
根据“You aren’t a student now, are you?” 由“…me in the classroom”可知说话人是个学生,故第一个空应回答Yes;remember doing sth记得做过某事;remember to do sth记得去做某事;根据“ten minutes ago”可知,动作已经发生,用动名词。故选B。
4.—Nice to meet you, Lin Tao. Would you like to tell me something about Jiangsu?

made of由…… 制成,看不出原材料;made up组成,编造;be made up of由……
5.— Where is Bob?
— He ________ to Beijing. He will come back in two weeks.
A.goes B.has gone C.has been D.went
考查动词时态,goes动词三单形式;has gone to去了没有回;has been to去过了;went动词过去式。根据“he will come back in two weeks”,可知应该是去了北京还没有回来,故选B。
6.They often talk with their friends ________ the phone.
A.in B.by C.through D.over
in在……中;by通过;through穿过;over向……

A.better; so good as B.better; so well as
C.worse; as good as D.worse; as well as
better更好地;worse更糟糕地;good好的;well好地。第二空修饰动词skate,要用副词well,not so ... as不如……;根据“but he doesn't skate so well as my brother”讲没有我兄弟滑得好,且句意出现转折,由此可推出是比我滑得好,第一空用better。故选B。

A.lend; keep B.borrow; lend C.lend; borrow D.borrow; keep
【答案】A

9.—Tom, what do you think of the new TV play?
—______.
A.That's right B.It's interesting C.Of course D.You're welcome
That's right那是对的;It's interesting它很有趣;Of course当然;You're welcome没关系。

—Good idea!
A.How B.How a C.What D.What a

11.—Where is your brother, Tim? I want to talk to him.
—He ______ his car outside. You can find him there.
A.washes B.washed C.is washing D.will wash

根据“Where is your brother, Tim?
12.—Alan, you danced so well in the party. Who taught you?
—Nobody. I learned it by ______.
A.you B.yourself C.me D.myself
根据空前的learned it by可知,此处是考查learn sth by oneself自学,排除选项A和C;结合本句的主语是I可知,空处应该用myself。故选D。
13.—Cindy, ______ read in bed. It's bad for your eyes!
—OK. Mum.
A.don't B.doesn't C.didn't D.can't
【答案】A
根据空前的逗号及后面“It's bad for your eyes!”和回答“OK. Mum.” 故选A。
14.—Is Helen watching TV?

A.watched B.is watching C.watch D.watches

15.— ________ the weather is bad, Mark gets up early to exercise.
— He always keeps a healthy habit.
A.Because B.But C.Although D.However

As an old Chinese saying goes, the Spring Festival comes right after the Laba Festival, so get ready for a bowl of Laba porridge.
Today, people across China are celebrating the Laba Festival. It is a traditional Chinese festival. It’s on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month. It is an important festival for Chinese people. To us, it means the traditional start of celebrations for the Spring Festival.
The Laba Festival is a day of thanks for a good harvest. On this day, people usually eat Laba porridge, a porridge with eight kinds of mixed grains (谷物). Today many temples in some areas still have the tradition of giving out Laba porridge to the public. The porridge is believed to bring luck and joy.
The festival is also the day for people to put garlic (蒜) in vinegar (醋). This Laba garlic will be eaten with dumplings on Chinese New Year’s Day. While in the past, it was used to let people remember to pay back the money they had borrowed, as Laba is near the end of the year and in Chinese garlic sounds the same as “calculate”(算).
Customs are quite different across the country. People in Qianxian, East China’s Anhui Province, eat the Laba tofu a few days before. In Xining City, Northwest China’s Qinghai Province, people eat porridge with beef and mutton.

①A smartphone is a phone that combines (合并) things like a phone, clock, camera and computer into one small device (装置). It can make calls like a phone, but it can also access the Internet. Using the Internet, smartphones can play music, take pictures and videos, and check the weather in cities all around the world. But how did the age of smartphones begin?
②In 1992, the company IBM created the first smartphone. It was a phone that included a program for writing notes to remember things. It also had a program for showing people dates and times of planned events. This early smartphone could send emails as well. However, this phone never became very popular. For one thing, it was too expensive for many people.
③Other companies then started to work on new phone technology. Companies such as Nokia and Ericsson next introduced their smartphones to the market. In fact, it was the Ericsson company that created the word “smartphone” in 1997. However, these smartphones also achieved little success.
④In 1999, the Blackberry was introduced. This was the first smartphone that was widely used by phone users. The Blackberry was a phone with a keyboard that made it easy to use the Internet and send text messages and emails. The Blackberry was popular with people working in business or in technology. But common phone users still didn’t buy many of them.
⑤In 2007, Apple introduced the iPhone. Not long after that, in 2008, Google introduced the Android phone to the world. These new smartphones from Apple and Google were marketed to all phone users. The goal was to make the smartphone easy to use and something everyone would want. Just as hoped, less than 10 years later, there were over 2 billion smartphone users. Not only is it safe to say that smartphones are taking over the world, but there will soon be a time when people can’t remember when phones only made calls.
