I love to read comic books and to draw.But it wasn't until I took part in an alumni (校友) event at Harlem School of the Arts (HSA) that I began to see teaching as a possibility.HSA alumna and professional dancer Tiffany Mellard explained that she had worked as a teaching artist before landing a role in the San Francisco performance of Hamilton: An American Musical.This made me think: Was teaching a possibility in my future?
When online classes were introduced to my camp, Creative Arts at Park (CAAP), because of the coronavirus pandemic (冠状病毒流行病), my mother asked me, “What would make a great comic book class?”
She has been a teacher in the camp for many years.I asked her why she would allow me to be her coteacher.I'm only 14. “The pandemic has changed the educational landscape,” she said.“We miss the freedom to explore the natural world, museums, and other educational institutions.I thought this teaching opportunity would be a creative way to provide you with such experience.”
Each class includes a presentation that centres on such techniques as penciling, inking, and marker work.Students incorporate (合并) what they have learned into a daily activity or project.After each presentation, we spotlight cartoonists, including Jack Kirby, Raina Telgemeier, and Elizabeth Montague, in a special feature we call CAAP Comics Corner.
“CAAP Comics Corner has shown me that besides fancy drawings, there's also storytelling, worldbuilding, and fleshedout characters when it comes to comics,” my sister Lucia said.
To enrich students' learning experiences, we invite guest speakers to the class.Children's book author Heidi Smith Hyde recently talked about her writing journey, and comic book artist A.K.Lovelace spoke about his comicmaking experience.

A company, called Mario Cucinella Architects, has made the House of Music, a solarpowered (太阳能的) building in Pieve di Cento that celebrates the town's longstanding musical tradition.Designed to represent an orchestra, the building is made up of nine small music rooms that connect to a central open space.The curved oak front not only helps to make sound louder like an instrument's music box, but also ensures high levels of energy efficiency (能源效率).
Finished in 2017 after four years of planning and building, the House of Music of Pieve di Cento is located in the former Lamborghini (a famous Italian car company) production area that had been changed into a park.The recently completed building gets an advantage from a cycling path that connects the House of Music to the town center and beyond to an area to the south.There is also a wooden bench running around the building and creating resting places facing the park.
To prevent heat, cold, or noise from passing through the building, Mario Cucinella Architects used a special design for the House of Music.The flat roofs (屋顶) are topped with a series of curved and raised disks (圆盘) that help make unwanted sunlight change its direction and are engineered to bring more natural air into the building.The energyefficient design was influenced by the architects' (建筑师的) study of the site.
The nine music rooms open up to a central outdoor space that serves as a meeting area.The architects noted, “The House of Music's outside lighting makes it a comforting place that encourages people to continue to do musical activities after the earthquake that shook the area in 2012.”

How Similar Are Language and Music?
Language is part of our daily life, no matter where we live in the world.It is the same with music, whether you listen to it on the radio on your drive to work or sit before an orchestra.Both language and music play a huge role in our culture. 1

In English we record language using the alphabet, which is a collection of letters.Similarly, we use notes to keep a record of music.Musicians read notes and create meaning in the form of music. 2 By writing pieces of text or music, we are able to share experiences through time.We can read the ideas or hear the composition of someone who lived hundreds of years ago.
