Write an article promoting traditional Chinese festivals
Traditional Chinese festivals are an important part of the Chinese culture (重要性) but many festivals are becoming less and less popular (令人担忧的现状).
①teach us about Chinese history
②enable us to learn more about fine Chinese values
③be a source of national pride and help shape our national identity
结尾叙述简洁明了,其中“It is the duty of every one of us to protect them for generations to come.”
此外,短文中还出现了大量的高级词汇,如celebrate the festival、observe this tradition、 protect and maintain them、 in honour of、 pass down、 promote traditional festivals、 spread knowledge、 fine Chinese values、 stand for family togetherness、 a source of national pride、 honour fine Chinese values等等。
The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated ...; The full moon on the festival is considered to ...; Traditional festivals have been passed down to ...

Thanksgiving is wherever Grandma goes
Thanksgiving was two weeks away but I was already planning the menu.We always had dinner at my house.I could always count on my son Bruce and his family who lived just an hour away.I was going over
the grocery list again in my head when the phone rang.It was Bruce's wife, Elsa. She was calling to talk about Thanksgiving, but I couldn't believe what she was saying.
“What do you mean you're not coming?” I said.“Not coming on Thanksgiving?”
“We want you to be our guest this year,” Elsa said.“Eric will be home from college and Carlos is bringing his girlfriend.Of course Alex can't wait to see you. It'll be fun.”
I was shocked, confused, and most of all hurt.Thanksgiving was always at my house.
“It's too much work for you, Mom.You come down here and let us treat you,” Elsa said.“We'll eat around four o'clock.”
I always served dinner at 2:00.“Four's too late and we have to prepare leftovers for children,” I said.“You know I can't drive after dark.”
“You can spend the night with us and tell Bruce's stories to children.”
Obviously they didn't want any part of my Thanksgiving.“I just won't come,” I said, and hung up.I tried to distract myself with housework, but it was no use.All I could think about was that all the years I'd worked to make the perfect Thanksgiving for my family. That night Bruce called. He sounded almost as angry as I was.
“You're not being fair, Mom,” he said.“We want you here. You can help with the cooking. But it's time that we started some of our own traditions.Don't spoil it for all of us.”
Much as I hated to admit it, my son had a point.I'd started my own Thanksgiving traditions when I got married.I couldn't blame him for wanting to do the same.I agreed to go.But I told myself next year everyone would be at my house where they should be.
注意:1.续写词数应为80左右;

the kids were. They asked to hear stories about their dad when he was little.I gave the audience what they wanted. We had a happy time.It turns out that you don't need grandmother's house for Thanksgiving.Thanksgiving is wherever Grandma goes.
The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms (节气).Start of Winter, the 19th solar term of the year, usually begins on November 7 or 8 and ends on November 21.
Start of Winter is the first solar term of winter, which means winter is coming and crops harvested in autumn should be stored up.
In ancient times, the Start of Winter was regarded as the beginning of winter, however, due to geographical factors, the actual winter time varies from place to place.
In fact, the Start of Winter is not the beginning of winter in terms of meteorology (气象学).The weather every year is different, so the beginning of winter could be quite different. And as China is very large, it starts at different times in different areas.
The beginnings of the four seasons were important festivals in ancient times. Before the Start of Winter, the ancient emperor would take a shower and have no more meat.On that day, the emperor would lead his officials to the countryside and “welcome the winter”.
People eat dumplings on the beginning of winter.Legend has it that in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Zhongjing invented “Jiao Ear” (娇耳) to treat typhoid (伤寒) patients with ear frostbite (冻疮).He cooked mutton, hot peppers and herbs to drive out the cold and warm up the body.He put these materials into a dough skin and made them into an ear shape.Since then, people have learned to make the food which became known as “dumpling” or jiaozi.Today there is still a saying that goes, “Eat dumplings on Start of Winter Day, or your ears will be frostbitten.”
