While living in Manhattan for some 15 years in the 1980s and early 1990s, Nannini only commuted (通勤) on the one train-given the subway system’s bad reputation. But after relocating to New Jersey for several years where subway is not an option, Nannini found that absence did make the heart grow fonder — maybe even for pizza rats. During her visit back to New York, Nannini nodded, noticing improvements in the subway’s facilities. While Nannini was waiting for a train, a bench on the platform opposite caught her attention due to the ever changing faces and characters. They were people of different accents, colors and beliefs. They were from all walks of life, a diverse mix of New Yorkers all there for their own different reasons. Having learned the teenagers’ popular “End of the Line” challenge — boarding trains at random and riding them until their final destination; Nannini decided to visit every first and last stop across the NY subway’s lines with her beloved camera. Nannini’s “End of the Line” experience saw her traveling some 665 miles across 26 routes in New York city. She took over 8,000 photos of the final stations, as well as the communities they served. In many cases, she rode the routes two or three times over to ensure she got “the shot”. “The project really shows me how important the subway is, and how sustainable it makes our lives,” she said “It’s often said that my photos show the end of the lines — the last stops,” she said. “But the end of the line is indeed the start for so many people. That made me think about who the people and the communities that live at the two ends are and what it is that the subway means to them.” Nannini was proud of her set of images directly challenging the traditions of story telling, which echoed both the boredom and excitement of travel on tracks. Nannini enjoyed taking her time, starting her challenge in 2013 and only shooting the final photos last year. Her first monograph on the terminal stops of the NY subway was released in April 2023. “When you drive in the suburbs, you don’t have those encounters,” she continued. “People enter your life on the subway. That’s what strikes me most on my journey on tracks.” 24. How did Nannini find the New York subway during her revisit? A. It tumed out fine. B. It was depressing. C. It still held the same bad reputation. D. It would be her only commuting option. 25. What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A. The diversity of New Yorkers’ daily life. B. The inspiration for Nannini’s subway shots. C. The popularity of “End of the Line” challenge. D. The challenges of Nannini’s job as a photographer. 26. What can we infer from Nannini’s “End of the Line” experience? A. Her way of telling stories is traditional. B. She expressed sympathy for the subway riders. C. Her photography is highly expected by the encounters. D. She found life on tracks was more interesting than life on wheels. 27. Which of the following is the best title for the text? A. “End of the Line” Challenge: A New Trend in NY Subways B. The Road Home: Rita Nannini’s Record of her Subway Ride C. Last Stop to New Start: A Photographer’s Rediscovery of NY Subways D. New Yorkers’ Routine: A Surprising Mixture of Boredom andExcitement C After decades of exploring the moon, a dramatic vision is finally becoming reality. The Guardian recently reported that a project called Lunar Codex is planning to send and store over 30,000 works on the moon from artists, writers, filmmakers, and musicians from over 150 countries and regions. The goods to be stored range from novels and paintings to music, films, and even soil from Earth. According to Artnet, the only rule for acceptance for these works is that they must have been pre-curated (预先策划) by a professional known to Samuel Peralta, the leader of the project. Speaking with The New York Times, Peralta said that the aim of the project is to create “a message in the bottle for the fixture”,showing that “during this time of war, pandemic and economic crisis, people still found time to create beauty.” In fact, this is not the first time that people have tried sending human legacies (遗产) to outer space. In 1969, the Apollo 12 mission carried a ceramic piece with drawings. In 1971, the Apollo 15 staff left a sculpture to honor those who had died in space exploration. What’s more famous is the Golden Record carried by spacecraft Voyager 1 and 2 from NASA in 1977, which contains human language, music and images. For example, a piece of Chinese guqin music, called Flowing Streams was included in it. Although we don’t know who determines which symbols of human legacy get sent out to space in most projects, it’s obvious that the criteria keep changing. In the past, space heritage products only focused on space-related works; but gradually, more human-related contemporary goods which held great importance in their respective eras have been added to the list. In the Lunar Codex, films, diverse art and literary works produced by women, disabled artists, and even AI have been collected for the first time to be sent to the moon. These changing criteria also leave space for ordinary people to imagine and think. Many people are now trying to store their DNA information digitally. Will people be able to find even more surprising and inventive ways to preserve their legacy in the future? Only time can tell. 28. What is the goal of the project? A. To make the moon livable. B. To show respect to artists. C. To preserve the existing beauty. D. To continue the work of Voyager 2. 29. Why does the author mention the missions in 1969,1971 and 1977? A. To explain the missions are important. B. To complain people explored outer space not so often. C. To show Chinese culture was included gradually. D. To prove people have been delivering legacies to the moon. 30. What does the change of the criteria reflect? A. Human civilization is inclusive. B. People don’t care about space-related works. C. Women’s position has been improved. D. People take AI seriously. 31. Where can you find the article? A. A brochure. B. A magazine. C. An advertisement. D. A poster. D More than 50 million people in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and elsewhere follow pastoralism(游牧) as a way of life. The practice has survived for so long because it is designed to change with the environment. Pastoralists move with animals to find new lands and water, leaving behind eaten plants to regrow. Mongolia is well known for its pastoralism. Agvaantogtokh and his family are herders(牧民). On horseback, he rides with nearly a thousand sheep and goats to help them find water. Sometimes, he and his wife, Nurmaa, stop to help struggling young ones, weak after a difficult winter. For families like Agvaantogtokh’s, pastoralism is more than a profession. It is a cultural identity that connects generations. At its heart is the human connection to animals. While they consider the animals as their property, they also see them as living beings working alongside them. Researchers say herders believe in “animal agency”. Agvaantogtokh lets his animals choose the food they eat and where they find water. To him, restricting an animal’s movement and asking it to eat the same thing each day is like putting a person in prison. In Mongolia, weather extremes are a part of life. When Agvaantogtokh thinks about climate change, he is concerned about humans and animals. Continuous dry and warm weather affects Mongolia. Since 1940, the government says, average temperatures have risen 2.2 degrees Celsius. To keep their practice alive, pastoralists seek ways to modernize. In Mongolia, Lkhaebum recently began using a small vehicle to more easily search for horses. The family uses electricity and has other technologies including a TV and a washing machine. They also use a cellphone to follow the weather and access social media where herders share information. One of the biggest threats to pastoralism comes from within. Nurmaa and Agvaantogtokh’s 18-year-old daughter studies medicine. Their son spoke about becoming a herder when he was a child, but not anymore. “I won’t regret anything if my child won’t be a herder,” Nurmaa said. “I would like them to do what they desire to do.” 32. What contributes to the survival of pastoralism? A. Huge pastoralist populations. B. Adaptation to the environment. C. Herders’ desire to travel to new places. D. Slow development of modernization. 33. What does pastoralism mean to Agvaantogtokh? A. The distinct identity of animals. B. A poorly-paid profession. C. An out-of-date lifestyle. D. The bond between man and animals. 34. What does “animal agency” in Paragraph 4 refer to? A. Animals’ living in cages. B. Animals’ eating the same thing. C. Animals’ struggling in shelters. D. Animals’ moving around freely. 35. What is a big challenge for pastoralism? A. Modern technology. B. No government support. C. Young people’s disinterest in it. D. Lack of information exchange. Here are the don’ts and do’s of showing your support for your friends when they’re having a hard time. ____36____. Fretters are so worried about their friend’s challenges that they are constantly concerned about whether they are doing enough to help. Try to keep those behaviors in check. No one should have to manage you when they’re going through a tragedy. Don’t minimize the pain and stay away from statistics. For example, if a friend failed the college exam, don’t tell him that 70% of students end in failure. Remember that it doesn’t mean less pain just because it happens to a lot of people. ____37____. Keep the focus on your friends. When your friends are talking to you, it’s easy for you to share a similar story in an effort to relate and connect. But it’s not always welcome. They might feel that you’ve made their pain about you.____38____, let them know that you went through something similar but allow them to decide if they want to hear about it at the moment. One look at the cloudless blue sky was all it took to convince me to drive twenty miles into the valley to do early Christmas shopping. Temperatures in the valley are between eight and ten degrees higher than those in the foothills where we live, so I enjoyed the warmth and sunshine as I walked from store to store. Around sunset, I searched through my purse for my cellphone, only to discover it wasn’t there. After a frustrating search I finally found it under the car seat and sighed with relief. I called my husband and heard the panic in his voice. ”I’ve been trying to call you. It started snowing up here half an hour ago, “he shouted into the phone. “Well. I’ll stop and put the chains on when I get up there so I can make it home,” I sighed. My husband coughed nervously and cleared his throat. “Uh, I forgot to put the chains back in the trunk when I cleaned the car out yesterday,” he said. I resisted the urge to scream. “I think you can make it home if you leave now and drive slowly following the tire tracks in the road when you get to the snow,” my husband said before I hung up. I drove slowly toward the 2600-foot elevation(高地) where we lived. My biggest challenge would be to get over the bridge, then up the hill on the other side. The snow was falling harder when I reached the bridge. I blinked back tears. A truck was driving across the bridge ahead of me. My hopes soared. Those big tires would make a good path through the snow. The path from the truck tires helped until I reached the end of the bridge and started up the hill. The tires started spinning and the car started to slide back down the hill. When my car finally stopped, I heard someone rapping on the window. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I started walking home, hoping to get to a place where I could use my phone on the way. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Emily, i've heard you went to paris. Today we're going to look at the wide differences in family life between the rich and the poor in Victorian times. Let's begin with the upper classes. In Victorian times, the upper classes made a bless than three percent of the population, yet held more than ninety percent of the country's wealth. Most of their servants were very poorly paid, but we're always living in the homes of upper class Victorian families. So they didn't have to pay for housing, food and clothing. The money which they did earn. They sent to their families. Many servants came from the countryside. Among them were cooks, cleaners, gardeners and so on. The family would also employ a child's nurse whose main role was to care for the children. SHE was responsible for teaching the children how to behave and taking care of them. When they were ill, nurses did not, however, educate the children. Generally, children from wealthy families didn't attend school outside the family home. Tutors would come to the house to do this. Now the Victorian upper classes had the reputation of being quite cruel, but this wasn't always the case. They were also quite generous. Some schools were set up with money from the upper classes so that poor children could have some form of education. Additionally, most Victorian parents were very proud of their children. This goes against a common idea that parents were very strict with their children. In fact, the opposite was generally the rule. However, the situation for lower class families was very different. New Yorkers’ Routine: A Surprising Mixture of Boredom andExcitement 【答案】24. A 25. B 26. D 27. 根据第一段“But after relocating to New Jersey for several years where subway is not an option, Nannini found that absence did make the heart grow fonder — maybe even for pizza rats. During her visit back to New York, Nannini nodded, noticing improvements in the subway’s facilities(但是,在搬到新泽西州几年后,由于当地没有地铁可选,南尼尼发现,缺失反而让她的心中更加思念——也许甚至对吃披萨的老鼠来说也是如此。南尼尼回到纽约时,她点了点头,注意到地铁设施有所改善。)”可知,南尼尼再次回到纽约,她感到地铁设施有所改善,很不错。故选A项。 根据第二段“While Nannini was waiting for a train, a bench on the platform opposite caught her attention due to the ever changing faces and characters(南尼尼在等火车时,对面站台上的一个长椅吸引了她的注意,因为上面的人脸和角色总是不断变换着。)”以及“Having learned the teenagers’ popular “End of the Line” challenge — boarding trains at random and riding them until their final destination; Nannini decided to visit every first and last stop across the NY subway’s lines with her beloved camera.(在了解了青少年们流行的‘终点线’挑战——即随机登上火车并一直坐到终点后,南尼尼决定带着她心爱的相机,走访纽约地铁线路上的每一个首发站和终点站。)” 根据最后一段““When you drive in the suburbs, you don’t have those encounters,” she continued. “People enter your life on the subway. That’s what strikes me most on my jouney on tracks.”(她继续说:‘你在郊区开车时,你不会有这样的邂逅。人们是在地铁上走进你的生活。这就是我在轨道旅途中最让我震撼的事情。’)”可推理出,南尼尼认为乘坐地铁的生活比开车的生活更有趣,故选D项。 【27题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“During her visit back toNew York, Nannini nodded, noticing improvements in the subway’s facilities(在回访纽约期间南尼尼点头称赞,注意到地铁设施的改善。)”、第四段“It’s often said that my photos show the end of the lines — the last stops,” she said. “But the end of the line is indeed the start for so many people. That made me think about who the people and the communities that live at the two ends are and what it is that the subway means to them”(‘人们常说我的照片展示了线路的终点——最后一站。’ 以及最后一段““When you drive in the suburbs, you don’t have those encounters,” she continued. “People enter your life on the subway. That ‘s what strikes me most on my jouney on tracks.’(她继续说:‘你在郊区开车时,你不会有这样的邂逅。人们是在地铁上走进你的生活。这就是我在轨道旅途中最让我震撼的事情。’)”可知本文主要讲的是摄影师丽塔·南尼尼重返纽约后对地铁始发站和终点站拍照的经历及其感慨;C项“Last Stop to New Start: A Photographer’s Rediscovery of NY Subways(最后一站到新起点:摄影师重新发现纽约地铁)”能够概括文章主题,适合作为最佳标题。故选C项。 C After decades of exploring the moon, a dramatic vision is finally becoming reality. D. A poster. C 29. D 30. A 31. 根据文章第一段“The Guardian recently reported that a project called Lunar Codex is planning to send and store over 30,000 works on the moon from artists, writers, filmmakers, and musicians from over 150 countries and regions.(《卫报》最近报道称,一个名为Lunar Codex的项目计划将来自150多个国家和地区的艺术家、作家、电影制作人和音乐家的3万多件作品发送并储存在月球上。)” 根据文章第四段首句“In fact, this is not the first time that people have tried sending human legacies (遗产) to outer space.(事实上,这并不是人类第一次尝试将人类遗产送往外太空。)” 根据文章倒数第二段“Although we don’t know who determines which symbols of human legacy get sent out to space in most projects, it’s obvious that the criteria keep changing. In the past, space heritage products only focused on space-related works; but gradually, more human-related contemporary goods which held great importance in their respective eras have been added to the list. In the Lunar Codex, films, diverse art and literary works produced by women, disabled artists, and even AI have been collected for the first time to be sent to the moon.(虽然我们不知道在大多数项目中是谁决定将哪些人类遗产的象征送入太空,但很明显,标准在不断变化。过去,空间遗产产品只关注与空间相关的作品;但渐渐地,更多与人类有关的、在各自时代具有重要意义的当代商品被加入了名单。在Lunar Codex中,首次收集了电影、女性、残疾人艺术家制作的各种艺术和文学作品,甚至人工智能也被送往月球。)”可知随着标准的不断变化,越来越多的与人类有关的、在各自时代具有重要意义的当代商品被加入了送往太空的人类遗产名单,由此可以推断人类文明是包容的。故选A项。 根据文章第一段“After decades of exploring the moon, a dramatic vision is finally becoming reality. The Guardian recently reported that a project called Lunar Codex is planning to send and store over 30,000 works on the moon from artists, writers, filmmakers, and musicians from over 150 countries and regions. 【答案】32. B 33. D 34. D 35. C 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要从游牧民族的人口数量、生活方式、现代科技对他们生活的改变以及所面临的挑战方面,详细介绍了以蒙古为代表的游牧民族的生活。 【32题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中“The practice has survived for so long because it is designed to change with the environment. Pastoralists move with animals to find new lands and water, leaving behind eaten plants to regrow.”(这种做法之所以能流传这么久,是因为它的设计是随着环境的变化而变化的。牧民带着动物迁徙,寻找新的土地和水源,留下被吃掉的植物重新生长。)可知,游牧这种生活方式之所以能流传这么多年,是因为世代牧民采用了适应环境的生存方式。故选B项。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“For families like Agvaantogtokh’s, pastoralism is more than a profession. It is a cultural identity that connects generations. At its heart is the human connection to animals. While they consider the animals as their property, they also see them as living beings working alongside them.”(对于像Agvaantogtokh这样的牧民家庭来说,畜牧不仅仅是一种职业。它是一种世代相传的文化认同。它的核心是人类与动物的联系。虽然他们认为动物是他们的财产,但也把它们视为一起工作的生物。)可知,对于牧民Agvaantogtokh来说,游牧是连接人们和动物的纽带。故选D项。 【34题详解】 逻辑推理题。根据第四段“Researchers say herders believe in “animal agency”. Agvaantogtokh lets his animals choose the food they eat and where they find water. To him, restricting an animal’s movement and asking it to eat the same thing each day is like putting a person in prison.”(研究人员表示,牧民相信“动物代理机构”。Agvaantogtokh让他的动物选择它们吃的食物和它们在哪里找到水。对他来说,限制动物的活动并要求它每天吃同样的东西就像把一个人关进监狱一样。)可推断出,动物在所谓的“animal agency”里非常的自由。故选D项。 【35题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“One of the biggest threats to pastoralism comes from within. Nurmaa and Agvaantogtokh’s 18-year-old daughter studies medicine. Their son spoke about becoming a herder when he was a child, but not anymore.”(畜牧业面临的最大威胁之一来自家庭内在因素。Nurmaa 和 Agvaantogtokh 18岁的女儿在学医。他们的儿子小时候想成为一名牧民,但现在已经不想了。)可知,牧民的子女对畜牧业不再感兴趣,不想延续父辈的游牧生活。故选C项。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2. 5分,满分12. 5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。 Here are the don’ts and do’s of showing your support for your friends when they’re having a hard time. ____36____. There are two problematic kinds of helpers; enthusiasts and fretters. Enthusiasts tend to push their advice—to insist on fixing or overcoming the problem. Showing up isn’t a one-time thing. Remember that grief(悲伤)is so complex and your friends might go through several stages of sorrow. ____39____. It means a lot if your friends know that you are thinking about them all the time. Ask your friends how you can best help. ____40____. Just ask! A. Don’t let them stay alone B. Try not to be over-enthusisatic or over-worried C. Keep in touch with them and see if they need your support D. If you do feel that your experience might be helpful to them E. You don’t need to automatically know what kind of help they want F. Instead, feel with your friend the bigness of what they’re going through G. When there isn’t a perfect response that is going to make people feel better 【答案】36. B 37. F 38. D 39. C 40. E 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述当你的朋友遇到困难时,向他们表示支持的注意事项。 【36题详解】 由下文“There are two problematic kinds of helpers; enthusiasts and fretters. Enthusiasts tend to push their advice—to insist on fixing or overcoming the problem. Fretters are so worried about their friend’s challenges that they are constantly concerned about whether they are doing enough to help. Try to keep those behaviors in check. No one should have to manage you when they’re going through a tragedy.(有两种有问题的帮助者;狂热者和烦躁者。热心人士往往会提出建议,坚持解决或克服问题。怪胎们非常担心朋友的挑战,以至于他们总是担心自己是否做了足够的帮助。尽量控制这些行为。当他们正在经历一场悲剧时,没有人应该管理你。)”可知,作者这里建议要尽量控制成为狂热者和烦躁者。而B项Try not to be over-enthusisatic or over-worried(尽量不要过于热情或担忧)符合语境,对下文有总括作用,其中over-enthusisatic or over-worried与下文enthusiasts and fretters对应。故选B项。 【37题详解】 由上文“Don’t minimize the pain and stay away from statistics. (不要把痛苦降到最低,远离统计数据。例如,如果一个朋友大学考试不及格,不要告诉他70%的学生以失败告终。记住,这并不意味着疼痛减轻,因为它发生在很多人身上。)”可知,这里主要讲不要用数据来把朋友的痛苦降到最低。而F项Instead, feel with your friend the bigness of what they’re going through(相反,与你的朋友一起感受他们所经历的巨大痛苦)符合语境,有承上作用。故选F项。 【38题详解】 由下文“let them know that you went through something similar but allow them to decide if they want to hear about it at the moment.(让他们知道你也经历过类似的事情,但让他们决定现在是否想听。)”可知,这里指要求朋友决定是否听你的经历,而D项If you do feel that your experience might be helpful to them(如果你确实觉得你的经历可能对他们有帮助)符合语境,和后文构成条件状语从句,且your experience与下文went through something similar对应,有启下作用。故选D项。 【39题详解】 由下文“It means a lot if your friends know that you are thinking about them all the time.(如果你的朋友知道你一直在想他们,那意义重大。)”以及上文可知,作者建议我们应一直关注朋友,而C项Keep in touch with them and see if they need your support(与他们保持联系,看看他们是否需要你的支持)符合语境,其中Keep in touch with them与下文 thinking about them all the time对应,有启下作用。故选C项。 【40题详解】 由上文“Ask your friends how you can best help. (问问你的朋友你能提供最好的帮助。)”可知,这里指要主动问朋友可以帮什么忙,而E项You don’t need to automatically know what kind of help they want(你不必自动知道他们想要什么样的帮助)符合语境,有承上启下作用,其中help与上文对应。故选E项。 第三部分语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项A、B、 C和D中, 选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。 The art of living is to know when to hold fast and when to let go. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 When my car finally stopped, I heard someone rapping on the window. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I started walking home, hoping to get to a place where I could use my phone on the way. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 When my car finally stopped, I heard someone rapping on the window. I rolled it down to see a young man with dark curly hair and sparkling blue eyes. He smiled. “You’ll never make it up this hill without chains. I’ll push your car to the side. You can walk up the hill,” he said. The car seemed to float effortlessly to the side of the road. I jumped out of the car and thanked him for his help. I tried to call my husband but reception at this level was poor even in good weather. I started walking home, hoping to get to a place where I could use my phone on the way. I hadn’t walked far when a white truck pulled up next to me. “Would you like a ride home?” the driver asked. I nodded and he opened the door. On the truck, I looked at him closely and noticed some dark curly hair sticking out of his hat. “Are you the young man who pushed my car off the road on the hill?” I asked. He smiled and nodded. After the truck pulled into the driveway to our house, he helped me out of the truck. But before I could thank him, he had driven away. 词汇激活: 行为类: ①成功:make it/succeed ②打电话:call/ring ③停车、停下来:pull up/stop ④帮助:help/aid 情绪类: ①毫不费力地:effortlessly /in a breeze ②感谢:thank sb/show one’s gratitude to sb 【点睛】【高分句型1】Are you the young man who pushed my car off the road on the hill?(运用了以关系代词who引导的限制性定语从句。) 【高分句型2】 After the truck pulled into the driveway to our house, he helped me out of the truck.(运用了after引导的时间状语从句。) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
