Computers help humans with a lot of things, from searching information to math. Now, they may be able
to help us in more complex (复 杂的) ways. Recent research has showed a new computer program that can
recognize (识别) human emotions (情感), simply based on how they type
Researchers from the Islamic University of Technology in Bangladesh asked a group of people to type
two paragraphs from Lewis Carrolls novel Alice in Wonderland The participants (参与者) then chose an
emotional state they felt while typing. Emotions tested were joy, fear, sadness and shame
Then the researchers put the text into the computer to study. Surprisingly, the computer was right 70
percent of the time in telling the participants' emotional states. The most correct emotions it guessed correctly
were joy (87 percent) and anger (81 percent). The least correct emotion the computer guessed was sadness
(60 percent).
However, the computer program is limited (局限) in what it can do, But scientists believe that it wil
help humans in the future
"If we could build any program that is smart enough to communicate with humans that involved (含有
emotion, then using machines could be more effective (有效的) and friendly." the researchers wrote in the
study. For example, when looking for a movie online, perhaps a computer program could make suggestions
for films that would match your mood
And as the researchers said, this type of computer program could also help humans in a number of ways.

Do you want to live a happier life? Try laughing for no reason. That's how many people start their day at
Laughter Yoga (瑜) Clubs around the world, and many doctors now think that having a good laugh might
be one of the best ways to stay healthy.
The First Laughter Club was started in Mumbai. India. in 1995 by Dr, Madan Kataria. "Young children
laugh about 3oo times a day. Adults (成人) laugh between 7 and 15 timoe a day," says Dr. Kataria.
"Everyone's naturally good at laughing. We want people to feel happy with their lives." There are now more
than 5oo Laughter Clubs in India and over 13oo in the world. many doctors are also interested in the effects
of laughter on our health.
A study at the UCLA School of Medicine in California shows that laughter makes people relaxed and is
very good for the heart. Laughter Yoga is used in many hospitals for the illness treatment(治疗) and it is alsc
practiced in schools, factories and old people's homes.
So, what is Laughter Yoga? I went to my nearest Laughter Club to find out. I was quite nervous about it
I didn't like the idea of laughing with others. First, our laughter teacher told us to clap(拍)otr hands and say,
"Ho ho ho, ha ha ha." He said our bodies can't tell the difference between fake laughter and real laughter, so
they both work. After ten minutes everybody in the room was laughing for real! We did different kinds of
laughter exercises and finally I was surpriseal by how relaxed I felt
So if you're upset about something, just start laughing. As Dr. Kataria says, "When you laugh, you
change, and when you change, the world changes around you."
