Fortunately, my friend, an acupuncturist in Sichuan, offered to help. I started my treatment the next day. At first, I was scared and worried. After a few days, I could move my fingers. Two weeks later, I could write. Within a month, I got almost well. I can’t even believe it till now.

Headphones are helpful. Many kids use them. But headphones do harm to our ears, too. They can cause hearing loss if the volume (音量) is too loud.
Do you know how we hear? There are cells (细胞) inside the ears that help us hear. We can’t see them with our eyes. “We call them hair cells,” Clark says. “They look like hairs standing up.” Clark, a scientist, studies noises and ears. He adds, “Sound can’t be seen, but it can make the hair cells move backwards and forwards, just like the wind in the leaves.” That’s a good comparison (比喻).
Hair cells are tender. Loud noises can damage them easily. And once the cells are damaged, they won’t grow back. Sometimes, there’s tinnitus (耳鸣). “It’s like someone is playing a note on the piano for a long time,” Clark says. It shows we’re losing hearing. Tinnitus is not only bad for our ears but also makes us feel uncomfortable. That’s the reason why it’s important to protect our ears.
We’d better keep the volume low when we use our headphones. We should be able to hear sounds around us. And other people shouldn’t hear the noise from our headphones. “If I can hear what you’re listening to when you’re wearing your headphones,” Clark says, “it’s too loud.” To protect our ears, keep our headphones at about half volume.
66. How does the writer start the text?
A. By showing sayings. B. By telling stories.

阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Have you heard of Rick Hoyt? The unlucky boy was unable to use his voice, arms or legs when he was born. Doctors offered him the best treatment, but it didn’t work well. Rick’s parents were told he would never have a normal life. Fortunately, Rick received much love and care from his parents.
To have better communication, Rick learned to use a computer to record his thoughts at 12. One day, Rick “told” his father that he wanted to run in a 5-mile race to raise money for a schoolmate. His father never ran more than a mile at a time, but he still tried. Rick completed the race in the wheelchair pushed by his father. “Dad, when we were running, I felt like I wasn’t disabled any more!” Risk said excitedly. That race almost changed Rick’s life.
And that sentence changed his father. He continued to give Rick that feeling as often as possible. When Rick was 19, his father and he joined in the Boston Marathon (马拉松). From then on, they completed 32 Boston Marathons together. They also took part in more than 1,000 other races. At the age of 21, trying his best, Rick spent no more than 45 days completing a run and bike race across the US with his father’s help. His whole family took pride in him.
In March 2021, his father passed away. In May 2023, Rick died. Rick’s spirit, along with his father’s, encouraged millions of disabled people to believe in themselves, set goals and reach their goals with great effort (努力).

Acupuncture (针灸) is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine. Growing up, I’ve always considered it out of date. As we know, acupuncture treatment lasts a long time and causes a lot of pain. But my experience changed my mind.
Last month, I slept through a flight (航班) from London to Beijing. When I woke up, I found that I could not move my right arm and fingers. There was no pain. My arm simply didn’t follow my brain’s orders to move, as if it was not mine any more.
One doctor said he could do nothing but give me some medicine. “Rest for two months first and come back for an examination.” After hearing that, I felt hopeless and didn’t know what to do next.
Fortunately, my friend, an acupuncturist in Sichuan, offered to help. I started my treatment the next day. At first, I was scared and worried. After a few days, I could move my fingers. Two weeks later, I could write. Within a month, I got almost well. I can’t even believe it till now.
Through my experience I’ve found acupuncture worth trying. I think I should tell more people about its advantages. As Chinese, it’s our duty to spread (传播) it all over the world. I hope this kind of traditional Chinese treatment will bring health to more friends.
59. What happened to the writer during the flight?
A. She had a bad dream. B. Her fingers were hurt.

C. Share modern Chinese treatment.

C. By giving examples. D. By offering his ideas.
67. What does Clark compare hair cells to?
A. Wind. B. Clouds. C. Leaves. D. Raindrops.
68. Which word is close to the underlined word “tender”?
A. Strong. B. Weak. C. Light. D. Thick.

A. Their hearing is losing. B. The piano volume is low.
C. Their body is comfortable. D. The hair cells are growing.
