Do you like exercising? You don’t like to be fat, do you? But how do you stay in shape? Look and listen! Some people are discussing how they stay in shape.
I work and live in the noisy city, so I ride my bicycle. I like to cycle(骑自行车) around most of the time and I also like to walk everywhere. I try to walk to a lot of different places.
Matthew / Canada
I like to go running two or three times a week. But to be honest, I’m the best runner. I probably walk for fifteen minutes, then run for ten minutes, and next walk for another fifteen minutes.
Linda / the United States
I really like running but at the moment it’s quite cold outside, so I don’t like to go running outside. I usually go to the gym(体育馆) and use the treadmill(踏车).
Paul / England
Every week I go to the health club. I like to exercise with others. It makes me relaxed. I also do some push-ups(俯卧撑) before going to bed, but sometimes I forget to do that. I also try to control (控制) what I eat. I eat less meat and more vegetables.
Aki / Japan

You’re complaining(抱怨) to your parents about something. Maybe your computer isn’t good enough to play the new games. Or your friends’ bikes are better than yours. Then you hear…
“When I was at your age, there weren’t any computer games or video games. And I didn’t get a bike until I was 16. And it was a second-hand bike. Also it was too big for me!”
So, is it really true that life is better for kids now? The answer is yes. Many kids can get more things than their parents. There are fewer children in a family now, so parents have more money to spend on each child.
Technology(科技) started bringing many changes(变化) to our world after 1990. Thirty years ago, there were no small computers or different kinds of smart phones. But now some people even can’t live without them!
However, in this technology age, we often spend more time at home. Kids aren’t as healthy as they were in the past because they don’t spend their time on exercise. They surf the Internet and watch TV in their free time. And, although young people still keep in touch(保持联系) with their friends, some people think kids today aren’t as sociable as they were in the past.
( )19. ________ might say the words in Paragraph 2.
A. Kids B. Kids’ friends C. Kids’ parents D. Teachers
( )20. In the writer’s opinion(看法), kids should ________ now.
A. know more about new technology B. do more sports

①As Daddy’s only daughter, I realized what made my Daddy more wonderful than all the other fathers. I’d ever seen or heard of — his large hands.
②Daddy had long smart fingers that could make lots of paper toys for me to play with. His hands could tie my hair beautifully. That’s why I was proud when the other students talked about my hairstyle. I kept this a secret for years. His hands could paint a second-hand bike to look new. I got one on my tenth birthday. His hands could cook a delicious and colorful meal in minutes. I was always interested in watching his hands work. Even as I grew hungrier, I felt happy watching his hands.
③Daddy’s creative hands were also useful and hardworking. They could fly a kite high in the sky as well as to get it down from the top of a tree. They could wash my white dress clean, which became my favorite one. To my surprise, those hands raised(抚养) seven children after mom’s death. It was his attitude that showed what he really was, far more than his abilities.
④Not only were Daddy’s hands capable(能干的), they could also send a message full of love. When I was sick, he made me feel better. He would take a small blanket (毯子), warm it up and cover it around my small cold feet with his loving hands. They seemed to understand my pain before I could cry. When I was stressed out, Daddy would often hand me a cup of hot milk and sat next to me. He would say, “The best is always to come, my dear.”
⑤The more I read Daddy’s hands, the more stories I sense(感知) from them. Daddy’s hands were perfect. They had the knowledge and power to move mountains. They made the impossible possible.
( )23. Why did Daddy paint a second-hand bike?
A. Because he liked painting very much.
B. Because he wanted to buy a new bike.
C. Because he wanted to make it look new as a present.
D. Because his daughter didn’t like the color of the bike.
( )24. Daddy’s useful and hardworking hands could do the things EXCEPT (除了) ________.
A. fly a kite high in the sky B. wash my white dress clean
C. raise seven children with mom D. get down the kites from trees
( )25. The underlined sentence in Paragraph 5 probably means ________
A. Daddy’s job was to move mountains away.
B. Nothing is impossible to a willing heart.
C. It’s impossible for Daddy to move mountains.
D. Daddy was strong enough to move mountains away.
( )26. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
A. ①/②③④⑤ B. ①/②③/④⑤
C. ①/②/③④⑤ D. ①/②③④/⑤
D
Last year, I moved from London to the African grasslands because my husband Robin took a new job there. Robin was able to work, but the language barrier(障碍) didn’t allow me to do so. With few people around our home, I felt bored. I turned to nature and learned about many kinds of local birds.
One morning in September, after a bad rainstorm, I found a baby bird on the ground outside of our home. His eyes were closed and he was shaking. The poor little thing had been left behind by his flock(鸟群). Clearly, he was too young to be able to live on his own. I placed him in a cardboard box. I stayed up all night that day to study how to care for him.
The next day, he woke with his mouth wide-open with a sharp hunger call. I fed him termites(白蚁) and chirped(叽喳叫) at him. He chirped back, jumped into my hand and then fell asleep in my hand. To him, I was mama bird. ①
For the 84 days, the cute little thing lived on me. Wherever I went, he would fly alongside me. He would make short flights from my hand to my head and then slide down my long hair to rest again. I never named him because he didn’t belong to me — I had to tell myself again and again that he needed to return to the wild. ②
Day by day, he was stronger, more confident and flying farther from me. His flock had returned to the grasslands. ③
Before I flew back to England in November for the holiday season, Robin and I had decided that he should be allowed outside to fly daily. Robin took him out to the flock three times. On the fourth day, the bird flew away with them. ④
When I returned, in January, I would watch out for him whenever birds flew past. Every one seemed to be him but no one was him. I would still cry when I thought of him. I wrote our story into a book, Fledgling. That, along with the lesson that any tiny animal can make a difference, will make me remember him forever.
( )27. The writer learned about many different local birds because ________.
A. it was her job to study birds B. her husband told her to do so
C. she had nothing else interesting to do D. she wanted to look after the baby bird
( )28. Where can we put “It was time for him to go.” most properly?
A. ① B. ② C. ③ D. ④
( )29. According to the article, after the bird returned to the wild, the writer ________.
A. never met it again B. never returned to Africa
C. was still seeing it every day D. decided to never leave Africa again
( )30. What can be the best title for the passage?
A. My job in Africa B. Ways to take care of a bird
C. A bird and his flock D. Eighty-four days with a baby bird

It helps people find the person with the same hobbies and doesn’t take people too much time. With one or a few dazi, people have more fun in the activities.

“Traditional friendship requires (需要) a lot of time and emotion (情感), while having dazi means not needing to worry about it.” said another girl. 33 She can feel relaxed and then focus more on study.
34 People sometimes find dazi on the Internet to work together, like playing games. Some people may put on fake masks(面具) and lie on the Internet. For example, a young and beautiful girl on the Internet may be an old, short, and heavy man in real life. Therefore, think twice when finding dazi.
A. Having a dazi is a relaxing way for her.
B. Dazi can appear(出现) in many different ways in daily life,
C. Also, dazi sometimes may give you some big surprises.
D. Many young people had a warm discussion(讨论).
E. Dazi is usually helpful, but it can be dangerous sometimes.
