Learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. know the tip of making a scrapbook; 2.search for relevant information from different resources efficiently; 3.understand honesty and responsibility through exploration; 4. make a fantastic scrapbook through cooperation. 5. evaluate and comment on each group's work. II. Key competence focus Develop the ability to search for important information. III. Predicted area of difficulty Cooperate with group members and make the scrapbook about honesty and responsibility together. IV. Teaching procedures Step1 Lead-in 1. T guides the Ss to define the two nouns, honesty and responsibility. T: When it comes to honesty and responsibility, can you define the two? Honesty: the quality of being honest; always telling the truth; always keeping promise; admit mistakes; never cheating or stealing, not hiding the truth about sth... Responsibility: duty; a duty to deal with or take care of sb./sth.; be able to take the blame when sth. goes wrong; 2.T guides the Ss to think about some proverbs or sayings related to honesty and responsibility. T: what Chinese proverbs or quotes do you know? 一言既出驷马难追. A word spoken is hard to follow. 人生自古谁无死,留取丹心照汗青。——文天祥 天下兴亡,匹夫有责。——顾炎武 苟利国家生死以,岂因祸福避趋之。——林则徐 T: Honesty is a general principle that we all need to obey whatever nation we come from. Therefore, there are many English proverbs or quotes related to honesty and responsibility. Let’s appreciate some of them. Ask students to read sentences together and try to translate them one by one. ● Honesty pays. 诚信无价。 ● Honesty is the best policy. 做人诚信为本。 ● Words must be honest and deeds must be faithful. 言必诚信,行必忠正。 ● One person does things and one person bears them. 一人做事一人当。 ● Everyone should shoulder their responsibilities. 每个人都应该担负起应尽的责任。 ● The price of greatness is responsibility. 伟大的代价就是责任。——丘吉尔 3. T asks Ss to read the quote by Fan Zhongyan together and analyse it. T: If we are to introduce this quote to others, how can we explain it clearer ?(list our comments or understanding,give translation, add the background information,stick some pictures...) 【设计意图】:通过讨论诚实和责任的定义,更好地理解如何做才算是诚实、正直以及负责任的。通过头脑风暴,激活与话题相关的中、英文谚语或者名言。发散性思维以便于后面环节搭建知识框架。 Step 2 Preparation 1. T asks students to think about what is a scrapbook. T: With all of these information, we can make a scrapbook. Do you know what is a scrapbook? (A scrapbook is a book with empty pages where you can stick pictures, newspaper articles, or other things you want to keep for later review. ) 2. T guides the Ss to discuss the steps of making a scrapbook page。 .Choose a topic in your group. Search for information from different resources. Make a scrapbook. 3. T helps students analyse in what aspects we can do some research on honesty and responsibility. T: Except proverbs, what other aspects can we do some research on honesty and responsibility? Can you come up with some aspects? (idioms, quotes, songs, stories, poems, films...) 4. T gives some tips on finding information for a scrapbook. T: But where can we find the materials related to the topic of a scrapbook? · Internet · Music & Video App · Library · Magazines · Newspaper · WeChat subscriptions · Books… T: When searching for proper information, what should we pay attention to? · Check the date of the information, whether printed or online; · Check the source of the information: generally speaking, information from official sources can be trusted. T: These are the tips we’ve learned before. 5. T gives an example of the film ‘Spider Man’ whose theme is responsibility to show what relevant information of a scrapbook page is needed. T: Let's take the film‘Spider Man’ for example, whose theme is responsibility. What elements can we add? (storyline, famous lines, theme, comment...) 6. T guides the students to pay attention to the layout while make a page of scrapbook. Choose the right size of paper. Design the layout. Prepare decorative materials: colour pens, scissors, stickers, glues, ... Put all the collected material together. T: Make sure they are beautifully designed and well-organized. 【设计意图】:引导学生讨论做剪贴簿的步骤以及注意事项,举例讲解有助于学生进一步厘清思路。为后续动手制作做好铺垫。 Step 3 Cooperation 1. T divides the class into five groups to search for relevant information. Each group chooses an aspect to research. Groups who have chosen the same aspect have a discussion about what information is needed for the scrapbook page and how the information can be obtained. 2. Ss finish the page in their groups. 【设计意图】:学生根据之前老师的讲解进行实际操作,达到知识的迁移的目的。既能锻炼学生的动手能力,又能培养合作精神,且丰富了教学的形式和内容。 Step 4 Presentation T invites Ss to present their pages in front of the class. T: Ok! Time is up. We are anxious to enjoy other groups’ works, right? Now let’s share our work with the classmates. 【设计意图】:学生展示小组成果,锻炼学生表达能力,增强他们的自信心。 Step 5 Combination T asks students to make the pages into a scrapbook. 【设计意图】:教师让学生将各组的作品合成为一本完整的scrapbook,学生体验了成就感。 V.
