Unit1 Foodforthought 学 重 点 语 法 情态动词 ( Modal verbs ) 本身具有一定 的词义, 不能独立作谓语, 必须和动词原形 一起构成谓语。 情态动词虽然数量不多, 但 用途广泛。 常用的情态动词包括 can ( could ) , may ( might ) , will ( would ) , shall ( should ) , must, need, dare, had better, ought to, used to 等。 本单元所学的情态动词及其具体用法 如下: ( 1 ) be able to 后接动词原形, 表示某人做 某事的能力, 可用于大多数时态。 用于 过去时态时, 还可以表示 “某人过去或 当时成功地做了某事”。 a. I will be able to speak Japanese in another few months. 再过几个月, 我就能讲日语了。 b. They were able to escape from the building when the fire broke out. 火灾发生时, 他们 设法从那栋建筑里逃了出去。 ( 2 ) dare & need a. dare 作情态动词时, 主要用于否定句、 疑 问句和条件从句中 , 一般不用在肯定 句中。 How dare you say I蒺m unfair? 你怎么敢说 我不公平? b. need 表示 “需要” 或 “必须”, 作情态动 词时, 用于否定句或疑问句中, 在肯定句 中一般用 must, have to, ought to 或 should 代替。 You needn蒺t come so early. 你不用这么 早来。 c. dare 和 need 常用作实义动词 , 有时态 、 人称和数的变化。 有所不同的是, 作实义 动词时, 在肯定句中, dare 后面通常接带 to 的不定式 ; 在否定句和疑问句中, dare 后面可接带 to 或不带 to 的不定式。 a. I dare to swim across this river. 我敢游过 河去。 b.
