When we talk of plants, most of us will think of things that grow from the ground and have green leaves, but there are plants that do not look or act like other plans. Some of these belong to a special class of plants called fungi.
Fungi may appear almost everywhere. They commonly grow in wet places where they can get food and water easily. Because fungi do not have green leaves to make their own food, but fungi must take their food from animals, other plants or water. Some fungi live on dead or rotting wood, while others grow on living trees or in dirt or moss(苔藓). Mushrooms are the best-known fungi.
There are many kinds of mushrooms appearing in all shapes and sizes. For example, cauliflower mushrooms(蘑菜花) are found in forests from July to October. They can grow to be as heavy as fifty pounds! They grow at the foot of trees. Squirrel's bread is another kind of wild mushroom. Its appearance and use can explain its name. These fungi look like small golden cakes. Squirrels can easily eat them or carry them off to their hole to eat later.

Paper cups, plastic bags and old newspapers. There are so many single-use things(一次性物品) that we throw away after using only once.
① According to news website Quartz, we are now living in a “throw-away society”. Single-use has become a natural way of life and can be seen almost everywhere.
② Every day, we see new memes (表情包), stories and Internet slang (网络俚语) on social media. With so many of them coming out all the time, the lifespan (寿命) of each becomes short. They become “singe-use online products”. This also means social media users are always searching for the next big thing.
③ You may feel frustrated ( 沮丧 ) when trying to keep up with these memes and slang, but you just cannot help but keep scrolling( 滚屏 ). It is endless no matter it’s WeChat Moments(朋友圈), Sina Weibo or Facebook.
④ While you read single-use content ( 内容 ) online, you also produce it. Since 2017, WeChat Moments ( 朋友圈 ) has allowed users to make only the last three days of their posts viewable (可见的). As a result, more and more people don’t take their posts seriously.
Since it doesn’t take too much time and energy to communicate anymore, we now even have disposable (用后即扔的) friendships, according to a story in Fast Company.
A single-use way of life may give you quick pleasure. But the pleasure may not last for long because there is no deep thought behind it. Maybe we need to slow down and enjoy a more thoughtful way of life.
44 .Where can we best put “But the idea of single-use is about more than just plastic and paper.”?
A. ① B. ② C. ③ D. ④
45.Why does the writer mention “WeChat Moments’ three days viewable” in Paragraph 5?
A.To show that WeChat take all the users’ privacy (隐私) seriously.
B.To explain the reason why the lifespan of memes and slang becomes short.
C.To teach WeChat users how to post something meaningful on their Moments.
D.To prove that we are producing single-use things when we read them online.
46.What is the writer’s opinion of single-use way of life?
A.Since single-use way of life gives us pleasure, we should enjoy it.
B.Single-use life will be helpful to our relationship with others.
C.We need to think twice and lead a more thoughtful way of life.
D.Single-use life is a natural way of life and we should get used to it.
47.The writer would probably talk about if he continues to write this passage.
A. the disadvantages of singe-use way of life B. the reasons that cause singe-use way of life
C. the ways to avoid singe-use way of life D. different opinions about singe-use way of life.

Long long ago, there was a piece of wood. It was not an expensive piece of wood. Just a common piece of firewood, one of those that are put on the fire to make cold rooms warm.
I do not know how this really happened, one fine day this piece of wood found itself in the shop of an old carpenter(木匠). Everyone called him Mastro Cherry, for the tip of his nose was so round and red that it looked like a ripe cherry(樱桃).
As soon as he saw that piece of wood, Mastro Cherry was filled with joy. Rubbing his hands together happily, he said to himself: “This has come in time. I’m in need of a leg of the table.” But as he was about to deal with it, he stood still with arm uplifted, for he had heard a little voice say: “Please be careful! Do not hit me so hard!” What a surprise!
He tried to find out where that voice had come from and he saw no one! He looked under the bench—no one! He searched the room—no one! He opened the door to look around the street and still no one!
“Oh, I see!” he then said, laughing and shaking his head “There may be something wrong with my ears.”
“Well, well—to work once more.” He struck another blow hard on the piece of wood.
“Oh, oh! You hurt me!” cried the same far-away little voice.
Mastro Cherry’s mouth opened wide, turned frightened eyes and his tongue hung down on his chin(下巴).” Where did that voice come from? This piece of wood has learned to cry like a child? Here it is—a piece of common firewood, the same as any other. Yet—might someone be hidden in it? If so, the worse for him. I’ll fix him!” With these words, he started to knock it. He threw it to the floor, against the walls, and even up to the ceiling.
He listened for the tiny voice to cry. He waited two minutes—nothing; five minutes—nothing; ten minutes— nothing. “Oh, I see,” he said, trying bravely to laugh and touching his hair. “Well, well—to work once more!” So he tried to sing a merry song to get power, and worked on.
“Stop it! Oh, stop it! You tickle my stomach.” This time poor Mastro Cherry fell as if shot. When he opened his eyes, he found himself sitting on the floor.

The Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (眼科中心) at Sun Yat-sen University(中山大学) has achieved a milestone in the field of eye operation by completing the world's first remote micron-level (远程微米级) operation on rabbits using their 5G robot.
The operations on 12 rabbits took place on June 23 at the center in Guangzhou. And the team operated at the Hainan Eye Hospital in Haikou.
The operation was done by professor Lin Haotian's team, and all the rabbits operated on are in good condition after a month of observation (观察).
According to Lin, who is the director of the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, the breakthrough will help speed up remote medicine in China, and improve the country's medical machines to world-leading levels. It will also play an important role in the development of national medical standards.
