一、阅读理解
第一节 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A (23-24高一四川凉山期末考试)
Xinjiang is building Asia’s largest wind-solar integrated renewable energy project (风光一体化项目). Once it is connected to the grid (电网), it’s going to produce 5.8 billion kilowatts of clean energy every single year, which can power the entire community of Xinjiang for thirteen days. It’s also going to save around 1.73 million tons of standard coal annually and cut down carbon emissions by a massive 4.72 million tons, which equals planting nearly 4.5 million trees.
However, these steep mountains and the extreme weather conditions make it challenging to build the project here. The steepest slope of the project is over 30 degrees and machinery also struggles to access these areas. So the drone is being used to survey the terrain (地形) of the entire site, identifying areas with depressions or steep slopes. Then, a terrace method is being adopted to help construction, resembling a structure or stair treads. In addition, aluminum-magnesium-zinc-coated materials are also used, which are as tough as nails and can handle anything this crazy climate throws away. From corrosion (腐蚀) to earthquakes, this stuff is built to last. Photovoltaic panel (光伏板) material is also a new type which provides 5-8% more power generation capacity compared to ordinary ones.
In Xinjiang, you can also see some of the livestock grazing (吃草) under the panels, because the project has tried to take care of the local ecology. The solar panels are so tall that it remains a grazing area for animals, like sheep, cows, horses and even groundhogs. Those tall panels allow them to graze underneath freely while the project is being built.
Not only does the solar project help China reach its dual carbon goals, but it also seems like they’re taking measures to ensure that the local people and the local ecology are all taken care of.
1.What will the project bring us according to paragraph 1?
A.It will lower electricity consumption by 4.72 million tons.
B.It will decrease the number of trees planted to 4.5 million.
C.It will provide the power for the whole China for thirteen days.
D.It will reduce the need for coal by 1.73 million tons every year.
2.What is being used to overcome the challenges of the steep mountains?
A.Drones and a terrace method. B.Machinery.
C.Aluminum-magnesium-zinc-coated materials. D.Photovoltaic panels.
3.How does the project balance the local ecology and the construction?
A.By moving the local wildlife to a different region.
B.By fencing off the construction area to protect the animals.
C.By using tall panels to enable animals to feed themselves freely.
D.By providing additional grazing areas away from the construction site.
4.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.The advance in photovoltaic panels. B.The environmental benefits of the project.
C.The benefits and challenges of the project. D.The economic impact of the project on the local.
B(23-24高一上海期末考试)
“The world’s environment is surprisingly healthy. Discuss.” If that were an examination topic, most students would tear it apart, offering a long list of complaints: from local smog to global climate change, from …. The list would largely be accurate, the concern reasonable. Yet the students who should be given the highest marks would actually be those who agreed with the statement. The surprise is how good things are, not how bad.
After all, the world’s population has more than tripled during this century, and world output has risen hugely, so you would expect the earth itself to have been affected. Indeed, if people lived, consumed and produced things in the same way as they did in 1900 (or1950, or indeed 1980), the world by now would be a pretty disgusting place: smelly, dirty, toxic and dangerous.
But they don’t. The reasons why they don’t and why the environment has not been ruined, have to do with prices, technological innovation, social change and government regulation in response to popular pressure. That is why today’s environmental problems in the poor countries ought, in principle, to be solvable.
Raw materials have not run out, and show no sign of doing so. Logically, one day they must: the planet is a finite place. Yet it is also very big, and man is very intelligent. What has happened is that every time a material seems to be running short, the price has risen and, in response, people have looked for new sources of supply, tried to find ways to use less of the material, or looked for a new substitute. For this reason, prices for energy and for minerals have virtually fallen during the century. The same is true for food. Prices fluctuate (波动), in response to harvests, natural disasters and political instability; and when they rise, it takes some time before new sources of supply become available. But they always do, assisted by new farming and crop technology. The long-term trend has been downwards.
It is where prices and markets do not operate properly that this sound trend begins to stumble (受挫), and the genuine problems arise. Markets cannot always keep the environment healthy. If no one owns the resource concerned, no one has an interest in conserving it or fostering it.
5.According to the author, why would most students tear the test paper apart?
A.Because they find it challenging to answer the examination topic.
B.Because they maintain that the environment of the world is better than expected.
C.Because they feel the topic is against their knowledge of today’s environmental problems.
D.Because they have no idea about the current situation of global environment.
6.It can be inferred from the passage that the huge increase in world output and population ________.
A.has made the world a dangerous place to live in.
B.has significantly affected the environment.
C.has made the environment of poor nations unsolvable.
D.has played a minor role in affecting the environment.
7.According to the passage, which of the following statement is TRUE?
A.There are few alternatives to raw materials in the world.
B.The long-term trend of prices for materials and food is downwards.
C.The price of energy fluctuates in response to change of food price.
D.Social stability can promote technological innovation.
8.According to the author, what is the primary solution to environmental problems?
A.To allow market forces to operate properly.
B.To limit consumption of natural resources.
C.To control the growth of the world population.
D.To encourage technological innovation.
第二节 七选五(23-24高一河南许昌期末考试)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
People have been adding colorings (色素) to their food for thousands of years. This tradition is widely thought to have taken place in Egyptian cities as early as 1500 BC. 1 With time going by, food colorings grew more and more popular.
At one point, all food colorings got their colors from natural sources. 2 Insects and rocks were also often used as sources of food colorings. The natural world still remains a common source of many of today’s commercial colorings.
Nowadays, scientists have also developed artificial (人造的) food colorings. These colorings have many advantages. For example, in many cases, it’s less expensive to create colors artificially. In addition, with artificial food colorings, people can create especially bright colors or colors hard to find in nature, such as blue. 3
Whether food colorings come naturally or artificially, there are health and safety concerns about them. 4 But they have been removed from the market due to health concerns, and some people thus try to avoid food colorings. However, avoiding food colorings can actually be quite difficult.
5 Many governments around the world limit the types of things that can be used in food colorings. And different countries have different labeling (贴标签) systems for food colorings, which allow people to be clear what food coloring it is. Many countries also make certain rules and laws to deal with adding and creating food colorings illegally.
A.All food colorings come from two sources.
B.Some food colorings are not good for our health.
C.Plants, like flowers, were very common examples.
D.Several food colorings were once recognised as safe.
E.As a result, artificial food colorings are widely used.
F.Measures thus have been taken for food colorings’ safety.
G.At that time, candy makers used colorings to improve products’ appearance.
