B(24-25高一吉林松原阶段性练习)
There are around 1,200 species of sea cucumbers (海参). They live in salt water on or near the seafloor —sometimes partially hiding below it. Sea cucumbers come in a range of colors: brown, red, orange, yellow, white, blue, or even patterned. These strange animals — which don’t have eyes or a brain — come in a variety of sizes, usually ranging from 0.75 inches to 6.5 feet long.
Sea cucumbers typically hold onto the seabed, or move along slowly. However, when they need to pick up their speed, they can flood themselves with water and swim away on the moving ocean water at speeds of up to 90 kilometers per day.
These animals feed on tiny organic matter’s particles They gather their food with the tube feet around their mouths, then break the particles down into even smaller pieces. By digesting (消化) these materials, they clean the sand, clear the water, and recycle nutrients — a bit like earthworms on land. They play an important part in keeping the ecosystem healthy.
Even though sea cucumbers can’t run away from threats or fight back, they still have some means of self- protection. When faced with danger, some sea cucumbers spit out sticky strings to catch their attackers. Others can injure their own bodies as a way of protecting themselves. They forcefully make their muscles become smaller and throw some of their internal organs (内脏) as a way of scaring off an attacker. The missing body parts can quickly grow back — an ability which makes them an interesting model animal in regenerative medicine.
Sea cucumbers, particularly eggs and young larvae (幼虫), are easily caught by fish and other animals in the ocean. They are also eaten by humans and often made into a dried product. These slow- moving, shallow water animals are easy to catch. This puts them at risk of overfishing and more than 70 species are used for profit. Between 1996 and 2011, the number of countries exporting sea cucumbers increased from 35 to 83.
6.Which of the following is a life habit of sea cucumbers?
A.They swim slowly with tube feet. B.Their teeth cut the food into pieces.
C.They use moving water to move quickly. D.They use sand to help digest their food.
7.What does paragraph 4 mainly tell us?
A.How sea cucumbers grow back organs. B.Why sea cucumbers give up their organs.
C.How sea cucumbers drive their enemies off. D.How sea cucumbers fight against attackers.
8.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.Sea cucumbers can lay many eggs at a time. B.The number of sea cucumbers may decrease.
C.Many countries are protecting sea cucumbers. D.Larvae of sea cucumbers are eaten by humans.
9.What can be the best title for the text?
A.Hidden Lives of Sea Cucumbers B.Human Efforts to Save Sea Cucumbers
C.Humans Are Depending on Sea Cucumbers D.Sea Cucumbers Are Threatening Ecosystem

1.The reason all people present are opposed to the project is that it will cause much pollution.
2.If you look at all sides of the situation, you’ll probably find a (solve) that suits everyone.(所给词的适当形式填空)
3.We are bound to see some ups and downs along the road to (recover).
分析句子可知,句中的to是介词,the road to sth.
4.Beijing University, (found) in 1898, is home to a great number of outstanding figures.(所给词的适当形式填空)

6.There is no greater pleasure than lying on the grass, (stare) at the night sky.
7.He visited Hangzhou and (eventual)settled there.

完整的从句为while he was concentrating。故填concentrating。

【答案】with a baby in her arms
