In the realm of academia, authenticity is highly valued. It is through authentic research that scholars make a contribution to the body of knowledge. Initially, I witnessed a decline in the pursuit of authenticity among students, but over time, they began to carve out their own paths, dedicated to uncovering truths that paid off in their academic careers.
The highlight of my teaching career was witnessing diverse students update their perspectives and come across incredible historical remains during field studies. These discoveries deserved to be on display, not only for their academic merit but also for their incredible stories. Digging up these remains advanced our understanding of ancient civilizations.
Additionally, students learned to determine the authenticity of sources and resolve academic disputes. In theory, standing firm on one's research can be challenging, but with determination, they succeeded. We also emphasized the importance of not letting distractions divert their focus in the long run.
Orientation sessions for new applicants often include various requirements, such as interacting with like-minded academicians and engaging in critical discussions. Setting a time limit for presentations encourages concise and focused contributions. During one such session, a student presented on a breathtaking destination she had visited, showcasing her determination and the unique insights she gained.
However, not all experiences are positive. Sometimes, students face criticism and even pick on each other, leading some to feel they have had enough. In such cases, I encourage them to leap over these obstacles, survey the damage, and move forward with resilience.
