Both summer and fall have its ups and downs. From June to August the weather in Paris is just about parfait (perfect). Average highs are in the high 70s and there are long days of sunshine. Unfortunately, summer is also the most crowded time—and the most expensive. For lower travel rates and significantly shorter lines at attractions, plan a visit in the fall. The seasonal foliage is known to stun, though the city’s spring blooms are pretty famous too. If a travel deal is all that you’re after, a visit during the winter will surely shave off travel expenses. Keep in mind though that Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world, seeing upward of 30 million travelers yearly. So no matter what time you visit, there will always be tourists and some crowds. Culture & Customs While many Parisians know English (especially in tourist areas and hotels), a little effort from your end really can go a long way. Pleasantries are highly regarded in French culture. A “bonjour” (hello or good day) or “bonsoir” (good evening) here and there will not only show that you’re trying on their turf (地盘), which the French appreciate, but enhance your own cultural experience. “Merci” is thank you and “s’il vous plaft” is please. If you’re at a loss for words, politely ask the waiter or shop attendant “Pouvez-vous m’aider?” (Can you help me?) or “Parlez-vous anglais?” (Do you speak English?). Another helpful phrase: “Excusez-moi” (Pardon or excuse me). If you are introduced to French people in social situations, stick to a handshake unless the person you are meeting initiates the les bises, or the greeting where people lightly kiss each other on the cheek once or twice. If you aren’t comfortable, merely stick out your hand for a handshake. 21. Which is the cheapest travelling season in Paris? A. Spring. B. Summer. C. Autumn. D. Winter. 22. What is appreciated in French culture? A. Speaking English in tourist areas and hotels. B. Showing politeness in communication. C. Enhancing the cultural experience. D. Going a long way around the city. 23. When are you supposed to greet a Frenchman with a kiss on the cheek? A. When he greets you with the les bises. B. When you are at a loss for words. C. When he sticks to a handshake. D. When you are uncomfortable. B From the relative obscurity of being ranked 14th in the world in 2022 to almost becoming the new Olympic champions, China’s women’s hockey team confidently announced its arrival at the towering level of the sport when it equaled its Olympic best performance and finished runners-up in Paris. Entering the knockout stage as its group’s lowest-ranked qualifier, the Chinese women’s team proved it deserves as much respect as all the other world-class competitors when it almost managed to knock defending champions the Netherlands off its golden throne in the final. Almost, and to be precise, the victory was just eight minutes away. After starting the final with an early goal in the sixth minute by forward Chen Yi, Team China, the sixth-ranked team in the world at the start of the tournament, had to fall back and defend as the Netherlands piled on the pressure throughout the following three quarters, forcing China to resist its surging attacks with a brave collective effort. The top-ranked Netherlands team eventually scored a 52nd-minute equalizer, with Yibbi Jansen netting via a penalty corner and leveling the score close to the end of the 60-minutes of regulation time. Having already survived a shootout in the knock-out stage during its semifinal win against Belgium, Team China ran out of luck after scoring only one of its five attempts while conceding three goals, losing 3-1 in the tiebreaker. Applauded by its opponents and cheered on by many of the orange-clad fans on the stands, the Chinese team jumped onto the podium during the medal ceremony as proud as the winners on the top step. It was all about honor and pride, instead of disappointment and frustration, said Team China’s head coach Alyson Annan. “We came so close. It was just a near miss that we felt a little bit regretful. But we are so proud to give the sport another opportunity to be seen and be followed,” said Team China’s captain Ou Zixia. 24. What do we know about Team China? A. It ranked the lowest in all competing teams. B. It defeated the Netherlands to qualify for the final. C. It finished runners-up in the Olympics more than once. D. It almost achieved victory in eight minutes in the final. 25. Which statement is true about the final? A. The game finished in 60 minutes. B. 4 goals were netted in 60 minutes. C. Neither team scored in 60 minutes. D. The two teams drew in 60 minutes. 26. Which word best describes the performance of Team China? A. Inspirational. B. Unexceptional. C. Emotional. D. Recreational. 27. What can be inferred from the captain’s words? A. The players were close friends. B. They nearly missed the match. C. The sport might attract more attention. D. They had another opportunity to compete. C Shanghai scientists have devised a new material that can be used to develop two-dimensional, low-power-consumption computer chips, which may significantly improve their energy efficiency and have important meanings for smartphone battery endurance. Low-power consumption high-performance chips based on the material will also support the sustainable development of 5G, artificial intelligence, the internet of things and other fields, and promote the popularization of the next generation of smart devices, the researchers said. As electronic devices become smaller and more powerful, the number of transistors continues to increase even as the chips themselves become smaller. Experts explained that when the thickness of conventional silicon-based transistor materials is reduced to the nanometer level, their insulating property (绝缘性能) is significantly reduced, resulting in current leakage. This not only increases the chip’s energy consumption, but also causes heat generation to increase, affecting the stability and service life of a device. To solve the problem, a team of scientists at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology developed an innovative metal intercalation oxidation technology and used it to form a sapphire crystal dielectric, which is used in the development of 2D low-power chips with high performance. Di Zengfeng, leading researcher on the team, said the core of the technology lies in the ability to precisely control oxygen atoms so that they can be embedded in a crystal lattice of aluminum layer by layer at room temperature to form an orderly single crystal alumina dielectric material — sapphire. Conventional alumina materials often exhibit a disordered structure, which can lead to a significant decrease in their insulating property in very thin layers. However, a single-crystal sapphire structure results in its higher electron mobility and lower current leakage, Di said. “The orderly placement of the material at the microscopic level ensures the stability of the electrons during transport, making it possible to prevent current leakage even at a thickness of only 1 nanometer, thus significantly improving the energy efficiency of the chips,” he said. 28. What can the new material be used for? A. It can replace conventional material in smartphone battery. B. It can be applied to promote the performance of chips. C. It can generate more energy for smart devices. D. It can increase the chip’s energy consumption. 29. What is the problem with the traditional materials? A. They can not be processed into the nanometer level. B. They function less efficiently in very thin layers. C. They are too thick to be employed. D. They are not stable enough. 30. What is the key to developing the new material? A. To reduce the thickness. B. To control the temperature. C. To keep control of oxygen atoms. D. To decrease the insulating property. 31. What can be the best title for the text? A. Revolution in Chip Manufacture B. Next Generation of Smart Devices C. Innovative Technology Contributes to Green Energy D. Breakthrough Promises Better Smartphone Battery Endurance D For the past decade, Benjamin Sack has been an artist-in-residence on a Holland American cruise ship. This unique opportunity allows him to observe architectural details from cities worldwide, which he then engages into his detailed pen drawings. Sack first approached Holland America—a company known for its round-the-world cruises — after he finished university. He pitched a unique idea: an “artist residency” where he’d give drawing classes and lectures to passengers on art. He also offered to create a large drawing to record the voyage. “Long story short, they loved the idea and welcomed me aboard, saying it would only happen this one year. Ten years later, I’m now the court artist to King Neptune himself,” he says jokingly. Sack now has his own artist studio on board the ship, where he works on his drawings inspired by the journeys around the world. “I’m lucky in that the room comes with a view that's ever changing,” he says. “Perhaps it’s the best art studio in the world.” At the end of each voyage, he presents the final drawing to the passengers and crew. Sack captures the incredible scale and complexity of his journeys, as well as the rich details that define each place. From the splendid architecture of Japan’s Himeji Castle to the elegant modern buildings on Singapore’s Marina Bay, his works are a magical mirror of world architecture. Florence, in particular, is a favorite destination, and its iconic Duomo has been included into many drawings. “Architecture is merely music frozen in time,” Sack poetically expresses. “It also can represent the human form in countless ways, physically and metaphorically: the body is a temple... So, in fact, each building is a character, portrait, or even a note fitted together in a symphony of movement and form.” “On land, the drawings are fixed to the studio. On the ship, the studio travels, and the drawing exactly records the movement of a journey around the planet-as I draw lines, a little bit of the ship’s movement is recorded; this slight difference repeated a thousand times breathes a whole different spirit into the work,” he shares. 32. What is special about Benjamin Sack? A. He is an architect who draws great pictures. B. He lives both in Holland and America. C. He creates pen drawings at sea. D. He possesses a ship company. 33. What do we know about Sack’s career? A. The idea didn’t emerge until he went on a round-the-world cruise. B. He proposed to the company his idea at university. C. He now serves the King as a court artist. D. It has lasted longer time than expected. 34. What does paragraph 5 mainly talk about? A. Sack’s first impression of different architecture. B. The themes and features of Sack’s works. C. Sack’s ideas about the world. D. The places Sack has been to. 35. What attaches different spirit to his work according to Sack? A. The subtle changes in his repeated lines. B. His extraordinary drawing techniques. C. The literary records in the journey. D. The best art studio in the world. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Development of Self-Concept Self-concept begins to develop in early childhood. ____36____. It was another cold, gray day. He still remembered his stomach chilling into a frozen knot as he approached the locker room last month. He had read the team list posted on the locker room door, hoping, searching anxiously for his name. It hadn’t been there. It was missing. He had felt suddenly as if he had ceased to exist. Become invisible. It wasn’t easy starting a new school, especially for Roderick because he had been a star athlete in all sports at elementary school. Now, it seemed, he was nothing. The bus came to a stop. A very pregnant woman hung onto the silver handrail and slowly pulled herself onto the bus. As she fell backward into the seat behind the bus driver, her feet kicked up, and Roderick saw that she wasn’t wearing any shoes. The bus driver yelled over his shoulder, “Where are your shoes, lady? It is freezing out there.” “I can’t afford shoes,” the woman answered. “I got on the bus just to get my feet warm,” the woman continued. “If you don’t mind, I’ll just ride around with you for a bit.” Some of the boys at the back exchanged glances and rolled their eyes. The driver scratched his head and shouted, “Now just tell me how come you can’t afford shoes?” “I got eight kids. They all got shoes. There’s not enough left for me.” Roderick looked down at his new Nike basketball shoes. His feet were warm and cozy. And then he looked back at the woman. Her socks were torn. Her coat, missing buttons, hung open around her stomach, as swollen as a basketball. Roderick didn’t hear anything around him after that. The word “invisible” popped into his mind again. An invisible person forgotten by society, but for a different reason, he thought. 注意:1. 续写词数应150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 But the cold was not invisible. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Roderick then hurried to the door. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 大理市辖区2025届高中毕业生区域性规模化统一检测 英语 注意事项: 1. What does the woman mean? We’re excited to have Dr. Smith with us today to discuss the social participation of elderly people and their contributions to our society. Welcome, Dr. Smith. M: Thank you for having me. I remember my own grandmother, who was an active volunteer at a local community center well into her 70s. She enjoyed being involved and making a difference in people’s lives. Sadly, many elderly individuals feel left out of social activities due to various factors such as movement issues and lack of accessible events. This disconnection may make them feel alone and cut off. W: That’s an important issue, indeed. In your opinion, what steps could we take to turn this around? M: Many experts have talked about better support for seniors. I want to highlight how significant it is for the elderly to stay socially active. We need to help them get involved in our community. We can do this by urging local groups to host various events and by increasing volunteering opportunities for seniors. 听下面一段较长对话,回答以下小题。【此处可播放相关音频,请去附件查看】 14. What’s the topic of the speech? A. The exciting but dull life in big cities. B. Life in small towns is the best for most people. C. The comparison of life in small towns and in big cities. 【答案】17. A 18. B 19. A 20. C 【解析】 【原文】Well, I’d love to share with you my personal opinions on city life and life in small towns. I grew up in a small town until I was 18 and then moved to a big city, so I have experienced the good and bad sides of both. I never thought that I would like living in a big city, but I was wrong. After ten years of living in one, I can’t imagine ever living in a small town again. Surely small towns and big cities both have some problems in terms of transport. In a small town, you have to own a car to make life comfortable. You can’t get around without one because there isn’t any kind of public transport. Big cities generally have heavy traffic and expensive parking, but there you have a choice of taking public transport, which is cheaper than driving. So, if you don’t have a car, you’d better live in the city. I also love the exciting life in big cities. I can always enjoy a lot of films, concerts, and other wonderful shows. However, these things are not common in small towns. The final thing I like about large cities is that you can meet different kinds of people. However, you seldom find such a variety of people in a smaller town. I think that living in an area where everyone was just like me would quickly become dull. Of course, safety should be considered, and that’s one area where small towns are better than big cities. Still, I would rather be a bit more careful and live in a large city than to feel safe but dull. 第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。 A Paris Travel Tips Best Months to Visit The best time to visit Paris is from June to August and September to October. 【答案】21. D 22. B 23. Low-power consumption, high-performance chips based on the material will also support the sustainable development of 5G, artificial intelligence, the internet of things and other fields, and promote the popularization of the next generation of smart devices, the researchers said. 35 What attaches different spirit to his work according to Sack? A. The subtle changes in his repeated lines. B. His extraordinary drawing techniques. C. The literary records in the journey. D. The best art studio in the world. 【答案】32. C 33. D 34. B 35. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: But the cold was not invisible. Under his seat, Roderick pried the toe of one shoe into the heel of the other and slipped it off, then the other shoe. Yes, he would be walking in the snow with bare feet! When the bus stopped at the end of the line, Roderick waited until everyone else had got off. Then he reached under his seat and picked up his basketball shoes. He walked quickly up to the woman and handed them to her, looking down and saying, “Here, lady, you need these more than I do.” Roderick then hurried to the door. “Wait,” the woman exclaimed, “Thank you, young man.” The driver was calling, “Hey, come back here, kid! What’s your name?” Roderick turned around to face him, his cheeks burning. “Roderick Daily,” he answered quietly. “Well, Roderick,” said the driver, “I’ve never seen anything like this in the 20 years I’ve been driving this bus.” The woman was crying. “Thank you. I felt people like me were ‘invisible’,” she said. Roderick smiled at the woman, mumbling, “It’s no big deal.” He hurried off. On his way home, he hardly felt the cold beneath his feet at all. 词汇激活 行为类 ①交,递:hand/pass/give ②需要:need/in need of ③匆匆离开:hurrt off/rush off 情绪类 ①微笑:smile/ crack a smile 【点睛】[高分句型1] When the bus stopped at the end of the line, Roderick waited until everyone else had got off.(运用了when和until引导时间状语从句) [高分句型2] He walked quickly up to the woman and handed them to her, looking down and saying, “Here, lady, you need these more than I do.”(运用了现在分词短语作状语) [高分句型3] Roderick turned around to face him, his cheeks burning.(运用了独立主格结构) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
