B A lovely dog earned fame for her incredible rescue of a young Rhode Island boy and ended up proving just how special she really was. The shelter staff had considered Ruby can’t be adopted or controlled due to her high energy. Five different families returned her to the shelter. The shelter workers intuitively (直觉地) knew the local police’s search and rescue department would be a great fit for Ruby, where officers would make great use of her intelligence and energy. They reached out to the state police, who agreed to give Ruby a chance, and Corporal Daniel O’ Neil became her handler. Ruby’s long-time handler, Corporal Daniel, felt like having a close relationship with her. He knew Ruby needed a task to focus her energy. Daniel trained Ruby for a year and a half — much longer than others — but he never gave up on her. In 2011, Ruby became a certified K-9 trooper (骑警). Six years later, she earned hero status for her incredible rescue of a local missing boy. “We got a call from Gloucester Police Department stating there was a missing boy,” Daniel recalled the day of Ruby’s heroic rescue. “And we just went out and started searching.” Hours into search, Ruby ran away from the group and ran down a hill. Daniel followed Ruby down the hill and saw her bending over the missing boy on the ground. The boy had hit his head and suffered a serious injury. Daniel informed the boy’s mother, Pat Inman, that they had found her son alive. He later described to her how the department’s K-9 trooper had located her son. Pat shared with Daniel that she had once worked at the local animal shelter, and she remembered one dog there who had become a police dog later. She said the dog’s name was Ruby. “I loved her. She was the sweetest thing,” Pat told Daniel. 4. Why did five families return Ruby to the local shelter? A. She didn’t like to be adopted. B. It’s hard to adopt or control her. C. She had an important task to carry out. D. She had become a certified K-9 trooper. 5. How long did Corporal Daniel O’ Neil train Ruby? A. Six months. B. Fifteen months. C. Twelve months. D. Eighteen months. 6. Who finally found the missing boy? A. Ruby. B. Pat Inman. C. The Shelter workers. D. Daniel. 7. What can we infer from the last paragraph? A. Ruby once upset Pat Inman. B. Pat Inman once cared for Ruby. C. Pat Inman would adopt Ruby. D. Ruby would retire after the rescue. C Be it at the office or in school, most people sit most of the day. For those hours of long- time sitting, there is now a healthy way to restore body and mind. According to a study published in Sports & Exercise in January, we can enjoy health benefits all round by walking for five minutes every half hour! The research designed five exercise options for participants who sat for eight hours. The participants were asked to take a minute’s walk after 30 minutes’ sitting, take a minute’s walk after 60 minutes’ sitting, take a five- minute walk every half hour, or take a five minute walk every hour. The last option is no walking at all. The researchers then compared the participants’ health. They discovered that five minutes of walking every half hour was the only amount that showed decreases in blood pressure and blood sugar in significant amounts. Moreover, researchers observed improved moods. “The effects on mood and tiredness are important. People tend to repeat behaviors that make them feel good and that are enjoyable,” lead researcher Keith Diaz explained. As those feelings of getting up and moving around were positive, they could become a motivation for more routine walks during the day. But sitting all day at work has become accepted. To change this, Diaz is trying to explain to employers that moving during the day is good on an individual level and also for the bottom line; a healthy worker is a more productive and satisfying employee. When it comes to standing desks, he said, “I’m unsure whether there’s really strong scientific evidence that standing is really better than sitting. I worry people have this false sense that they’re healthy because they’re using this desk, and maybe they’ re not actually that much better.” If you’re sitting and haven’t walked around for a while, get up! Treat yourself to an exercise “snack” and then take another one in a half hour. The benefits of a simple, easy five- minute walk are obvious! 8. What does the second paragraph mainly talk about? A. The process of the study. B. The purposes of the study. C. The findings of the study. D. The importance of the study. 9. What does the underlined word “this” refer to in paragraph 4? A. A belief. B. A theory. C. A method. D. A phenomenon. 10. Which word best describes Diaz’s attitude to the benefits of standing desks? A. Uncaring. B. Doubtful. C. Worrying. D. Confident. 11. What is the purpose of the last paragraph? A. To prove. B. To compare. C. To suggest. D. To summarize. D French company Airseas has promised to help cargo (货物) ships reduce their fuel consumption, and cut their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by an average of 20%. And they’re doing this with the Seawing — a 1,000-square-meter kite that will fly 300 meters (about 984 feet) above the water’s surface. So the global shipping industry is apparently rediscovering the joy and efficiency of sails. The large, ship-sized kite is currently being developed, and the company plans to start a factory to produce the Seawing in 2026. Once manufactured, Airseas has promised that launching and operating the Seawing on a cargo ship will be automated, making it easy to use for the crew. The kite and the equipment that launches it are fixed on a boat’s deck, and the crew can simply press some buttons and a large kite will rise into the sky. That’s not to say that the cargo ships won’t use their engines at all, but the kite will take some pressure off of those engines and will reduce the need for fuel. The wind will move the ship, just like it did for hundreds of years in the old days before industrialization. Lowering emissions by 20% may not seem like a big deal, but moving vast amounts of goods back and forth on the high seas creates 3% of the world’s GHG emissions. That’s more than the airline industry, which produced about 2% of the world’s emissions in 2021, according to the International Energy Agency. Shipping is also a massive industry, and one worth focusing on for lowering emissions. About 90% of the world’s traded goods are moved around via ships, according to the International Chamber of Shipping. Some companies are expecting this new version of sails. Japanese shipping company, “K” Line, has placed orders for the Seawing kite, and the European Union has also invested more than $2 million in funding. 12. What is French company Airseas trying to do? A. Produce big kites to seize the market. B. Make sea exploration easy and joyful. C. Participate in kite-flying competitions. D. Ship cargoes with low fuel consumption. 13. What can we know about the Seawing? A. It will completely replace engines. B. It will be much larger than a ship. C It will be easily operated by the crew. D. It will follow the cargo ship at sea. 14. What does the author want to convey by listing the figures in paragraph 3? A. Airline industry should give way to shipping industry. B. It is hard to cut the GHG emissions in shipping industry. C. Lowering fuel consumption in shipping deserves our efforts. D. Shipping industry produces most of the world’s GHG emissions. 15. Which is the best title for the text? A. Shipping industry is getting popular again B. The GHG emissions are being greatly reduced C. Seawing factories are to be opened in Europe D. Kites on boat will help cut GHG emissions Here are some habits to help you enjoy a longer and better life. Eat better. I was a volunteer fire aide in New York, and was studying at Mission College. As a firefighter, you should always think of other people and try to help other people. One night after going to class, I was walking home and decided to stop off at a fast food restaurant. I lived in an apartment alone near my college so most of the time I used to get a take-out, I got my food and started to head home when a homeless man walked to me. He looked 20 or so. He was very dirty and obviously very hungry. He asked me for some change to buy a little food. As I was pulling some change out, I had an idea. I decided to see if he wanted to eat a real dinner, so I asked him to follow me back into the restaurant to order food together. For someone who had been on the fringes(边缘) of society it seemed like he was very surprised at my generosity(慷慨). But to me, it was what any ”human being“ should do or at least offer. He was afraid to go into the restaurant because of shame. But I insisted. When he finally followed me and walked into the restaurant, the people behind the counter refused to let him in, but I told them that I was buying him dinner and he had a right to be there. After some arguments, they finally let him in and he sat down at the table. It seemed like he was relieved a bit to be sitting at a table, I asked him to order whatever he wanted. He only ordered a hamburg, so I had to encourage him to order whatever he wanted. Finally he ordered three hamburgers and we began to talk. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ He stood up and looked at me, open-mouthed. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 高二英语试题 考生注意: 1. 1. B 5. D 6. A 7. 根据文章第二段“The shelter staff had considered Ruby can’t be adopted or controlled due to her high energy. (收容所的工作人员认为Ruby的精力太充沛,不能被收养或控制。)”可知,Ruby的精力太充沛,一般人无法领养并驯服。故选B。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第三段“Daniel trained Ruby for a year and a half — much longer than others — but he never gave up on her. (丹尼尔花了一年半的时间训练鲁比——比别人长得多——但他从未放弃过鲁比。)”可知,花了18个月时间训练鲁比。故选D。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第三段“In 2011, Ruby became a certified K-9 trooper (骑警). Six years later, she earned hero status for her incredible rescue of a local missing boy. (2011年,鲁比成为了一名合格的K-9骑兵。六年后,她因不可思议地营救了一名当地失踪的男孩而赢得了英雄的地位。)”可知,鲁比救助了一名失踪的男孩。故选A。 根据文章最后一段“Pat shared with Daniel that she had once worked at the local animal shelter, and she remembered one dog there who had become a police dog later. She said the dog’s name was Ruby. ‘I loved her. She was the sweetest thing,’ Pat told Daniel. (帕特告诉丹尼尔,她曾经在当地的动物收容所工作过,她记得那里有一只狗后来成了警犬。她说那条狗的名字叫鲁比。“我爱她。她是最可爱的人,”帕特告诉丹尼尔。)” 帕特在当地的收容所工作过。她很喜欢鲁比,由此可知,她曾经照顾过鲁比。故选B。 C Be it at the office or in school, most people sit most of the day. 9 What does the underlined word “this” refer to in paragraph 4? A. A belief. B. A theory. C. A method. D. A phenomenon. 10. Which word best describes Diaz’s attitude to the benefits of standing desks? A. Uncaring. B. Doubtful. C. Worrying. D. Confident. 11. What is the purpose of the last paragraph? A. To prove. B. To compare. C. To suggest. D. To summarize. A 9. D 10. B 11. 根据文章第二段“The research designed five exercise options for participants who sat for eight hours. The participants were asked to take a minute’s walk after 30 minutes’ sitting, take a minute’s walk after 60 minutes’ sitting, take a five- minute walk every half hour, or take a five minute walk every hour. The last option is no walking at all. The researchers then compared the participants’ health.(该研究为久坐八小时的参与者设计了五种锻炼方案。参与者被要求在坐了30分钟后走一分钟,坐了60分钟后走一分钟,每半小时走五分钟,或者每小时走五分钟。最后一个选择是根本不走路。然后,研究人员比较了参与者的健康状况。)”可知研究人员设计了五种不同的锻炼方案以及这五种不同方案的具体实施情况,从而来比较参与者的健康状况,所以第二段主要讲的是研究的过程。故选A项。 根据文章第四段“But sitting all day at work has become accepted. To change (但是整天坐着工作已经被接受了。为了改变)”以及换线词之后“Diaz is trying to explain to employers that moving during the day is good on an individual level and also for the bottom line(Diaz试图向雇主解释,白天运动对个人水平和底线来说都是好的)”可知,整天坐着工作的这一现象已经被接受了,所以此处的划线词this指的是一种现象。 根据文章倒数第二段“When it comes to standing desks, he said, “I’m unsure whether there’s really strong scientific evidence that standing is really better than sitting. I worry people have this false sense that they’re healthy because they’re using this desk, and maybe they’ re not actually that much better.”(当谈到站立式办公桌时,他说,“我不确定是否真的有强有力的科学证据表明站立比坐着更好。”我担心人们会因为使用这张办公桌而产生一种错误的感觉,认为自己很健康,但实际上可能并没有好到哪里去。”)”可知,在Diaz看来并没有强有力的证据证明站立比坐着更好,由此可以推测Diaz对于站立式办公桌好处的态度是怀疑的。故选B项。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“If you’re sitting and haven’t walked around for a while, get up! Treat yourself to an exercise “snack” and then take another one in a half hour. The benefits of a simple, easy five- minute walk are obvious!(如果你坐着,有一段时间没有走动了,那就站起来吧! C. It will be easily operated by the crew. Kites on boat will help cut GHG emissions 【答案】12. D 13. C 14. C 15. 根据第一段中“French company Airseas has promised to help cargo (货物) ships reduce their fuel consumption, and cut their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by an average of 20%. And they’re doing this with the Seawing — a 1,000-square-meter kite that will fly 300 meters (about 984 feet) above the water’s surface. 根据第二段中“Once manufactured, Airseas has promised that launching and operating the Seawing on a cargo ship will be automated, making it easy to use for the crew. The kite and the equipment that launches it are fixed on a boat’s deck, and the crew can simply press some buttons and a large kite will rise into the sky. 根据第三段中“Lowering emissions by 20% may not seem like a big deal, but moving vast amounts of goods back and forth on the high seas creates 3% of the world’s GHG emissions. That’s more than the airline industry, which produced about 2% of the world’s emissions in 2021 (减少20%的排放量似乎不是什么大事,但在公海上来回运输大量货物产生的温室气体排放量占世界温室气体排放量的3%。 通读全文,尤其是第一段中“French company Airseas has promised to help cargo (货物) ships reduce their fuel consumption, and cut their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by an average of 20%. And they’re doing this with the Seawing — a 1,000-square-meter kite that will fly 300 meters (about 984 feet) above the water’s surface. Here are some habits to help you enjoy a longer and better life. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Finally he ordered three hamburgers and we began to talk. I asked why he was on the street. He was silent with his head dropping. After a while, he said that his parents died from an accident when he was twelve. He had been homeless since then. There was no job he could do to support himself, He had no place to live in and had to hang out most of the time. Hearing his words, I was heartbroken. I asked him if he minded sharing an apartment with me. He stood up and looked at me, open-mouthed. I smiled, repeating my words. Suddenly, he grasped my hands tightly, with tears rolling down his face. He couldn’t say a word but I knew what he wanted to say, I told him he could find a job near my apartment and start a new life! A bright smile appeared on his face, ”I couldn’t thank you more. You light up my life!" he said heartily. I felt very happy. After enjoying our food, we headed for the door as well as our new life. 词汇激活 行为类 ①养活自己:support himself / support himself / feed himself ②闲逛:hang out/ wander ③点亮:light up / shine / shed light on 情绪类 ①心碎的:heartbroken / heart-rending ②坚定地:heartily / with determination/ firmly 【点睛】 [高分句型1].
