Unit2 Video Time & Assessing Your Progress 课时内容 主题语境:人与自我 主题群:生活与学习 子主题:健康的生活方式 语篇类型:视频、练习 文本分析:本节课分两部分:第一部分为Video Time,其内容为介绍大笑对人们身心健康的积极作用。第二部分为Assessing Your Progress,围绕本单元主题设置词汇练习,以及引导学生在语境中正确使用动词的谓语和非谓语形式。最后对本单元进行总的反思和评价。 课时目标 学完本课后,学生能够: 1.通过观看视频,获取大笑带来的一些好处的信息,积累一些与大笑相关的名言或谚语。 2.复习本单元的重点词汇和语法。 重点难点 重点 本单元重点词汇和语法的恰当使用。 难点 客观地看待坏习惯不易打破的事实,提升培养好习惯的信心。 教学准备 教师准备:与大笑有关的视频和谚语、俗语。 学生准备:复习动词不定式作主语的用法和本单元的重点词汇。 精彩课堂 Video Time Step I 学习理解 活动一:感知与注意 1. Before the watching, ask students to look at the pictures and answer the questions.(Before You Watch) 2. Ask students how theyunderstand the following sayings. Have them explain what each quote tries to tell them and voice their opinion. 【设计意图】在观看视频之前,通过看图回答问题及理解与大笑相关的谚语的活动,了解与视频相关的背景知识,为理解视频内容作铺垫。 活动二:获取与梳理 1. Play the video for students and ask them to check their answers in Before You Watch. 2. Ask students to answer the questions. (WhileYou Watch) (1)Go through the questions with students and make sure they understand the meanings. ·What do adults not necessarily remember? ·Aside from making us feel good, what else does laughter do according to research? ·What happens when you have 5~10 minutes of laughter, besides your blood vessels opening up like you have gone jogging or taken cholesterol medication? ·What does it mean when we say that laughter is contagious? ·What will a mother usually do if she tickles her baby and the baby fusses or cries? ·Which do you think is more important for bringing out the benefits of laughter, the act of laughing or the social interaction connected to it? What are your reasons? (2)Play the video for students to watch and get the answers. (3)Ask students to share the answers, and if necessary, play the video again for students to check the answers. Suggested answers: ·Adults don't necessarily remember how to have fun. ·According to research, laughter also has a direct and positive effect on our blood vessels. ·When you have 5~10 minutes of laughter you can burn up to 40 calories. ·It means that when someone is laughing, we are more likely to laugh too. ·She wi1l stop doing it. ·I think that the social interaction connected to laughter is more important for bringing out its benefits, because laughter is a social thing and happens when people are communicating with each other. It is harder to laugh and be happy when we are alone. 【设计意图】在问题的引领下,有的放矢地获取听力文本的信息,既加深了学生对文本的理解,又增强了他们获取信息的能力。 Step II 应用实践 活动三:描述与阐释 Ask students to discuss the following questions in groups. ·Who in our class loves laughing the most? Do you like him or her? Why or why not? ·Who in our class often makes others laugh? What does he or she usually do to make others laugh? ·Do you believe laughter can make us healthy? ·How does laughter make you feel? ·What is your way to make other people laugh? Do you think the ability to create laughter is some kind of talent? 【设计意图】联系学生生活实际,让学生谈论笑对自己、对周围人的影响,认识到笑对健康生活的重要性,帮助学生内化本单元知识,同时提升他们的语言表达性技能。 活动四:分析与判断 1. Go through the words in the box with students and make sure they understand their meanings. 2. Ask students to complete the passage using the correct forms of the words in the box. 3. Ask students to share the answers first in pairs or groups and then with the whole class. 【设计意图】该活动为选择恰当的单词填空,完成一个关于劝父亲戒烟的故事,属于词汇练习,旨在在本单元具体语境中练习词汇,提高学生使用词汇的能力。 活动五:内化与运用 1. Ask students to read the passage and understand its meaning. If necessary, help students understand any difficult sentences they may think. 2. Ask students to read the passage again and correct the mistakes. Then have them give a title to the passage. 3. Go through the questions with students and make sure they know their meanings. Do you know what a healthy lifestyle is after finishing this unit? What is the most useful thing that you have learnt in this unit? How can you use what you have learnt to improve your lifestyle? What new words and expressions have you learnt in this unit? Can you use the infinitive as the subject properly in different situations? ©Overall, I thought this unit was □cool □useful □just OK □difficult. 2.
