She was a bookworm as a primary school student and often spent what she calls “a colorful day” at the school library, reading one or two books a day, absorbed in her own world. Jiang began reading ding Qing Dynasty (1644 — 1911) author Cao Xueqin’s Dream of the Red Chamber in the second l grade, when she did not even fully understand all the characters. She also loved reading history and the first historical books she read were the Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms, stories that are more than 2,280 years old. In 1996, she wrote her first martial arts novel Modao Fengyun to entertain herself. In 1997, she bought a computer and typed in the manuscript (手稿), but with nowhere to publish, only family and friends read the book. Jiang focused on women, who were usually overshadowed and presented as simplified characters in Chinese literature, particularly important historical women. She realized that Chinese historical novels tended to focus on emperors, kings, and generals, and women often featured as vehicles, such as virtuous wives and good mothers. Among the 2, 000 ratings on Douban, a major review aggregator (聚合器) in China, nearly 70 percent of readers gave Jiang’s most famous novel four stars or more out of five. One reader, nicknamed Yinrendeponiang, who gave the novel four stars, commented that, “The book describes the life of China’s first empress dowager (女皇) , through a mix of fiction and history. It details her journey from birth to rule, and how the changes in her life influenced her, shaping her into a kind yet tricky yet tricky individual. She resists others’ control over her...This book not only informs us about her path to growth, but also shows how a woman can achieve success through her own efforts.” 4. What can we learn about Jiang from the first two paragraphs? A. She had an extremely romantic view of life. B. Her reading choices were family-influenced. C. Her hobby was comparable to men’s early on. D. She tackled complex literature at a young age. 5. Why did Jiang’s family and friends be the readers of her early works? A. To persuade her out of writing. B. To kill their time for entertainment. C. To encourage her writing enthusiasm. D. To help her find mistakes in her work. 6. What is the author’s purpose of mentioning Yinrendeponiang? A. To call on women to achieve success. B. To show his dissatisfaction with the novel. C To make comments on China’s first empress dowager. D. To demonstrate Jiang’s work is well-received on Douban. 7. Which proverb can best describe Jiang’s work? A. Knowledge is power B. Women holdup half the sky. C. One good turn deserves another. D. Constant dripping wears away the stone. D 5. C 6. D 7. 文章第一段讲到“She was a bookworm as a primary school student and often spent what she calls “a colorful day” at the school library, reading one or two books a day, absorbed in her own world.(她是一名小学生,经常在学校图书馆度过她所谓的“多彩的一天”,每天读一两本书,沉浸在自己的世界里)”以及第二段“Jiang began reading ding Qing Dynasty (1644—1911) author Cao Xueqin’s Dream of the Red Chamber in the second l grade, when she did not even fully understand all the characters.(蒋在小学二年级时开始阅读清代作家曹雪芹的名著《红楼梦》,当时她甚至还没有完全理解书中的所有人物)”可知,通过前两段我们可以了解到蒋从很小就开始研究复杂的文学。 文章第三段讲到“In 1997, she bought a computer and typed in the manuscript (手稿), but with nowhere to publish, only family and friends read the book. (1997年,她买了一台电脑并输入了手稿,但由于无处出版,只有家人和朋友阅读这本书)”,这里要注意“only”,蒋的书无法出版,没有读者,只有家人和朋友读她的手稿以资鼓励。因此蒋的家人和朋友是她早期作品的读者是为了来鼓励她的写作热情。故选C。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。文章最后一段讲到“Among the 2, 000 ratings on Douban, a major review aggregator(聚合器) in China, nearly 70 percent of readers gave Jiang’s most famous novel four stars or more out of five. One reader, nicknamed Yinrendeponiang, who gave the novel four stars (在中国主要的评论聚合网站豆瓣上的2000个评分中,近70%的读者给蒋最著名的小说打了四星或五星以上的评价。有一位读者,绰号叫Yinrendeponiang,给这部小说打了四颗星)”可知,作者提到Yinrendeponiang的目的是证明蒋的作品在豆瓣上广受好评。故选D。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。文章第四段讲到“She realized that Chinese historical novels tended to focus on emperors, kings, and generals, and women often featured as vehicles, such as virtuous wives and good mothers.( 她意识到,中国的历史小说往往侧重于帝王将相,而女性往往以贤妻良母为载体。)”以及最后一段中粉丝的评价“She resists others’ control over her...This book not only informs us about her path to growth, but also shows how a woman can achieve success through her own efforts(她抗拒别人对她的控制……这本书不仅告诉我们她的成长之路,还展示了一个女人如何通过自己的努力获得成功)”可知,蒋关注的是中国女性在历史上的地位以及女性在社会中扮演的角色,她的小说对现代女性产生深刻的影响。因此,最能描述蒋的付出的谚语是:妇女能顶半边天。故选B。 C In some parts of the world people are likely to plan for the future while in others people are more likely to live in the moment. In some societies people prefer more personal space; in others they are comfortable being in close quarters in public. There are a number of theories about where cultural differences between societies come from. In a growing number of cases, researchers have found that human culture an be shaped by key features of the environments in which people live. Ecology includes basic physical and social characteristics of the environment—such factors as how rich a place is in resources, how common infectious (传染性的) diseases are, how heavily populated a place is, and how much threat there is to human safety. Variables like temperature and the availability of water can be key ecological features. For over 200 societies, our lab at Arizona State University gathered comprehensive data on nine key features of ecology— such as rainfall, temperature, infectious disease and natural resources —and dozens of aspects of human cultural variation— including values, strength of social norms (社会规范), personality, motivation and institutional characteristics. With this information, we created the EcoCultural Dataset. Using this dataset, we were able to generate a range of estimates for just how much of human cultural variation can explained by ecology. We ran a series of statistical models looking at the relationship between our ecological variables and each of the 66 cultural outcomes we tracked. For each of the cultural outcomes, we calculated the average amount of the cultural diversity across societies that was explained by this combination of nine different ecological factors. We found that nearly 20% of cultural variation was explained by the combination of these ecological features. Importantly our statistical estimates take into account common issues in cross-cultural research. There will likely be unmeasured similarities between societies with shared historical roots and traditions. Ecology isn’t the only reason people around the world think and behave differently. But our work suggests that, at least in part, our environments shape our cultures. 8. Which best explains why people are comfortable being in close quarters in public? A. They are friendly to each other. B. They like staying in public places. C. They enjoy spending time with others. D. They live in a place with cold temperatures. 9. What do we know about the EcoCultural Dataset? A. It’s a combination of humans and nature. B. It’s a combination of ecology and culture. C. It’s a comparison between theory and practice. D. It’s a comparison between ecology and culture. 10. What did the author's lab want to find out? A. Where cultural differences come from. B. Whether ecological features affect culture. C. How strong the ecology-culture connection is. D. Why cultural differences between societies exist. 11. What is the conclusion of the author’s study? A. Shared traditions lead to cultural similarities. B. There are cultural differences between societies. C. Cultures are shaped by the environments people live in. D. Cultural differences partly come from ecological factors. D 9. B 10. C 11. 根据第三段“Variables like temperature and the availability of water can be key ecological features.(温度和水的可用性等变量可能是关键的生态特征)”以及最后一段“But our work suggests that, at least in part, our environments shape our cultures.(但我们的研究表明,至少在某种程度上,我们的环境塑造了我们的文化)”可知,生活在一个温度很低的地方最能解释为什么人们在公共场合会觉得近距离接触很舒服。 根据第四段“For over 200 societies, our lab at Arizona State University gathered comprehensive data on nine key features of ecology— such as rainfall, temperature, infectious disease and natural resources —and dozens of aspects of human cultural variation— including values, strength of social norms (社会规范), personality, motivation and institutional characteristics. With this information, we created the EcoCultural Dataset.(我们在亚利桑那州立大学的实验室收集了200多个社会的综合数据,涉及生态的九个关键特征——如降雨、温度、传染病和自然资源——以及人类文化差异的几十个方面——包括价值观、社会规范的强度、个性、动机和制度特征。有了这些信息,我们创建了生态文化数据集)”可知,生态文化数据集是生态和文化的结合。故选B。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段“Using this dataset, we were able to generate a range of estimates for just how much of human cultural variation can explained by ecology.(利用这个数据集,我们能够对人类文化差异有多少可以用生态学来解释产生一系列的估计)”可知,作者的实验室想知道生态与文化的联系有多强。 根据最后一段“Ecology isn’t the only reason people around the world think and behave differently. But our work suggests that, at least in part, our environments shape our cultures.(生态并不是世界各地人们思维和行为不同的唯一原因。但我们的研究表明,至少在某种程度上,我们的环境塑造了我们的文化)”可知,作者的研究结论是文化差异部分来自生态因素。故选D。 D Researchers say they’ve used cutting-edge gravitational wave research to cast new light on a mystery — a 2000-year-old computer, the Antikythera mechanism found in shipwreck. Well over a century after its discovery, researchers at the University of Glasgow say they’ve used statistical modeling techniques, originally designed to analyze gravitational waves — ripples in spacetime caused by major events in the universe such as two black holes combining —to suggest that the Antikythera mechanism was likely used to track the Greek lunar year. In short, it’s a fascinating collision between modern-day science and the mysteries of an ancient artifact. In a 2021 paper, researchers found that previously discovered and regularly spaced holes in a “calendar ring” were marked to describe the “motions of the sun, moon, and all five planets known in ancient Greeks and how they were displayed at the front as an ancient Greek universe.” Now, in a new study published in the Official Journal of the British Horological Institute, University of Glasgow gravitational wave researcher Graham Woan and researchassociate Joseph Bayley suggest that the ring was likely perforated (打孔)with 354 holes, which happens to be the number of days in a lunar year. The team used statistical models derived from gravitational wave research, a large-scale physics experiment designed to measure ripples in spacetime millions of light-years from Earth and Bayesian analysis, a technique using probability to quantify uncertainty based on incomplete data, to calculate the likely number of holes in the mechanism using the positions of the surviving holes and the placement of the ring’s surviving six fragments. Surprisingly, the inspiration for the study came from a YouTuber Chris Budiselic, who has been attempting to physically recreate the ancient mechanism and investigating ways to determine just how many holes it contained. “It’s a neat symmetry that we’ve adapted techniques we use to study the universe today to understand more about a mechanism that helped people keep track of the heavens nearly two millennia ago,” Woan said. “We hope that our findings about the Antikythera mechanism, although less supernaturally spectacular than those made by Indiana Jones, will help deepen our understanding of how this remarkable device was made and used by the Greeks,” Woan sadded. 12. What was the original purpose of the statistical modelingtechniques? A. To study the Antikythera mechanism. B. To investigate ancient artifacts. C. To track the Greek lunar year. D. To analyze gravitational waves. 13. How did the researchers calculate the likely number of holes in the mechanism? A. By using statistical models and Bayesian analysis. B. By observing the mechanism directly. C. By asking YouTuber Chris Budiselic. D By observing the physical recreation of the mechanism. 14. The underlined term “Bayesian analysis” in paragraph 4 refer to a technique. A. to recreate an ancient mechanism. B. to measure ripples in spacetime. C. to calculate uncertainty based on insufficient data. D. to calculate the positions of the surviving holes. 15. What is the main idea of the text? A. Modern science was ideally combined with an ancient artifact. B. The Antikythera mechanism was discovered in a shipwreck. C. The mystery of the Antikythera mechanism remains unsolved. D. Gravitational wave research revealed the Antikythera mechanismt. 12. D 13. A 14. C 15. The air popped with a mix of excitement and nervousness - a feeling I knew well. But this time was different. The audience were everywhere and this added a layer of pressure, twisting my stomach into a knot. With a whistle that broke the tense silence, the game began. The ball came straight to me. I drove forward, slipped around a defender, and lost it. On the very next play, I gave it straight away again. My confidence, once a steady flame, began to weaken. Determined not to repeat the mistake, I played it safe next time and passed it back. Barely even on target, I was losing it. I could feel others’ eyes burning into the back of my head. By halftime, the score was a frustrating 0-0. Exhausted and discouraged, I just wanted the final whistle to blow. The second half kicked off, offering a chance to turn things around. But my struggles continued. As I ran up the field, the ball found my foot again. Yet, instead of a clean pass, I mishit it straight to a defender. Defeat flooded me. I only made safe passes, desperate not to make another mistake. Then, three sharp blows. Overtime (加时赛). My heart sank. How could I possibly face another tough period, with this self-doubt weighing me down? On my way to the locker room (更衣室), my legs felt heavy like lead weights. The usual enthusiasm I had when playing was replaced by self-doubt. As I walked into the locker room, my coach came up to me. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The whistle blew for overtime, and I raced down the field, hope in my chest. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 As I walked into the locker room, my coach came up to me. “Are you OK?” he passed me a bottle of water. I nodded weakly, feeling the cool liquid slide down my throat and wash away some of the tension. He patted my shoulder, “Just stay focused. You’ve got this.” His words were like a balm to my soul, and I felt a little more confident. I took a deep breath and focused on the task ahead. The whistle blew for overtime, and I raced down the field, hope in my chest. I dashed over to the ball. I dribbled it between my feet, moving forward toward the net of the yellow team. By the time the other girls had noticed, I was positioned right in front of the net. The goalkeeper turned back quickly to guard the net as I kicked the ball hard, reaching out her gloved hand. The ball touched the tips of her fingers as it swooshed past, right into the top corner of the net. The referee blew his whistle. “Goal!” 词汇激活 行为类 ①传递:pass/hand ②轻拍:pat/tap ③猛冲:dash/rush 情绪类 ①紧张:tension/nervousness ②自信的:confident/self-assurance 【点睛】【高分句型1】I nodded weakly, feeling the cool liquid slide down my throat and wash away some of the tension. What is the author’s purpose of mentioning Yinrendeponiang? A. To call on women to achieve success. B. To show his dissatisfaction with the novel. C. To make comments on China’s first empress dowager. D. To demonstrate Jiang’s work is well-received on Douban. 7. Which proverb can best describe Jiang’s work? A. Knowledge is power B. Women holdup half the sky. C. One good turn deserves another. D. Constant dripping wears away the stone. C In some parts of the world people are likely to plan for the future, while in others people are more likely to live in the moment. Importantly, our statistical estimates take into account common issues in cross-cultural research. C How strong the ecology-culture connection is. D. Why cultural differences between societies exist. 11. What is the conclusion of the author’s study? A. Shared traditions lead to cultural similarities. B. There are cultural differences between societies. C. Cultures are shaped by the environments people live in. D. Cultural differences partly come from ecological factors. D Researchers say they’ve used cutting-edge gravitational wave research to cast new light on a mystery — a 2000-year-old computer, the Antikythera mechanism found in shipwreck. The team used statistical models derived from gravitational wave research a large-scale physics experiment designed to measure ripples in spacetime millions of light-years from Earth and Bayesian analysis, a technique using probability to quantify uncertainty based on incomplete data, to calculate the likely number of holes in the mechanism using the positions of the surviving holes and the placement of the ring’s surviving six fragments. B By observing the mechanism directly. C. By asking YouTuber Chris Budiselic. D. By observing the physical recreation of the mechanism. Knowledge is power, and the more you learn about mental health, the better the position you may be in to help those facing mental health battles. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
